Ryan Cleven is leaving TC & Gears for good

If this tendency of firing people continues at THE COALITION I think MIcrosoft at the end its going to hire @TC_Clown @Omen_LP, @GhostofDelta2 , @T0NY_HAYABUSA , @ll_R_E_D_l, @Link23809 and I man to create a new vision for Gears man . .

Without a doubt we can do better than Gears 5 man . I have faith in the talent of people with passion.

Firing people? That’s not what’s happening here. With Rod, it was a willing decision of him to take an opportunity to make a new experience - how to ship a Diablo game. Everything that transpired around the matter goes to indicate there was no bad blood or anything forceful occurring to push Rod to do that. He just left cause he felt like it.

I’m not familiar with what happened to Otto, whichever role he covered, but from what I heard it also was a willing decision to look for different career opportunities at another developer. And Cleven, well, as is stated, it is because of personal matters going on which made him drop his position.

But none of them were fired so I don’t see why you’re taking those cases out of all things as pointers to the situation of the game.

I’ve never been fired thank God… however I do know that in large companies whenever you are fired , the company asks you to establish a memo stating that for personal reasons you are going to X place or Y place , or that you are sad to leave the project and instead focus your energy into something else… however the fact of the matter is that you got fired and in order to not to create bad Public Relations image they force you to say that. .

It’s pretty common practice in almost every major IT company in the world…

Rod and now Ryan. It’s a real issue.

For Honor, started great but then lost their Creative Director one year in and the community agreed it wasn’t the same afterwards.
Rainbow Six Siege recently shifted studios and community reception to newer seasons has been less than ecstatic.
Anthem shifted many developers.
Heads at Bungie & 343 left Halo, made Destiny instead.
Leads on MW left and made Titanfall instead.

Lots of failed games had warning signs like this. Part of me hopes it may not be the same for Gears.
But with two big names jumping ship, even this early on (Not even a year) it kind of shakes expectations for the future, especially since Rod was the face of the game at E3 and other events and now he’s out too.

That’s what happened when you destroy a series of a great game. Microsoft must have realized that , but that’s what happens when you dont take suggestion for your community and loyal fan base. I’m glad they are leaving because this at least gives gears 5/6 some chance of being salvaged from what has happened thus far.

Also i’m not sure why you are saying that but titanfall was ■■■■■■■ amazing and by no means a failure.

In the context, I was talking about how after the devs left the games got worse. Halo and MW got worse, but Titanfall and Destiny were better. Titanfall 2 is my most played Game on Xbox next to Gears 4, Siege and For Honor.

Gears is now trash and won’t ever recover.

The less people who play Gears, the less understand what made the series fun. Ryan and TC attempted to understand but in the end, they wanted to make their own Gears and it hurt them in the end.

New guy(s) won’t understand the game or franchise like they used to and so each new party will try to make it their own thinking they’ll inject new blood and attract new players, but they won’t.

Gears isn’t itself anymore and hasn’t been for awhile. New players, new developers and new ideas but no understanding of Gears.

GG Gears, get off host.

It’s possible, one of my friends is a diehard for Halo and said the same after Halo 5 but is now telling me he might Pre-Order Infinite.

I never thought I’d enjoy call of duty ever again and hey–I have a lot of fun in Modern Warfare.

People thought you couldn’t outdo the original Star Wars movies and hey look—well no actually that’s not a good example.

But I hope you see my point. There’s still a chance, not with Gears 5; maybe not even with Gears 6. But in our family of Gearheads, white and mexican— Hope Runs Deep. And we just gotta Hope.

HOPE

Maybe MS will take up CliffyB’s offer, lol…

All these senior people leaving… Not a good thing…

Just keep the GoW4 servers running, TC, that’s all I want…

True but Halo is Halo and MW is CoD…

Gears is Gears, it’s in a rough spot that the shear name alone can’t save it you know?

I miss when Gears could draw

I don’t understand that? Are you saying that Gears is harder to recreate than the other two?

I wish him the best of luck. I don’t hate the devs putting work in, I hate the product that I’m given. Maybe that’s still hurtful since it is something these guys obviously put a lot of work into the game but I really do hate how Gears has gone. Some good changes in this update but I really haven’t liked the direction this series has gone since The Coalition has taken the reins. The only thing that really does keep me to the multiplayer is that 4 and 5 are the only Gears games with the more fluid cover system at +60 fps. I would be playing the ■■■■ out of 3 if that got remastered or just ported with greater performance. I also miss the dark and chunky gore of the previous games. The gore felt more meaty, 4 and 5 feels more like the bodies are blood balloons that explode.

Just want to point out that before the release of the game there where 12 seniors that had left the building.

Some I understood why. But I know that people tend to leave do to frustration of structure and communication within the company. Higher ups tend to not understand the game… Because they are not gamers themselves. They will ignore inhouse critisim and tend to look down on their costumers.
And this will take a toll on your psyche as a game developer.

Many leave the industry and never comes back. Avrage time in game dev is 4 years… just saying.
