Revamp characters GIVE US CLASSES

all signs point to them simply running out of time before launch. the huge list of bugs logged, QoL fixes and features missing show this.

one that drives me up the wall is that duplicate character warning window.

I for my self prefer heroes more, but is it perfect? Nope! The new system was specifically designed with extensibility in mind.

TC built a weak base for the new system, it was unfortunately glitched and faulty in certain scenarios. What I don’t like the most atm, is that they kinda killed off certain characters off the spot by replacing them with new ones who have more tangible skills.

Let me be more specific, Marcus, that should’ve his own bleeding card, tri-shot more damage, or long lasting stim has nothing of that sort, he is the frailest of them all now due to the current glitchy state.

Kait is good against all but the Kestrel(kind of) and Swarmak. The latter being due to the EXTREME amount of health the boss has. Matriarch is more a matter of being able to get behind and being able to shoot undisturbed. And maybe Guardians/Sentinels are a problem for her, due to their shield. But there is still reliance on JD overall. Or people just want him too much because of the ridiculous damage he deals, especially once you’ve maxed out or leveled Razor Hail to a certain point on him.

But still, I do agree this Horde is not balanced well. A lot of it requires on having different characters(eg Kait and Jack with Jack perma healbeaming Kait until the wave is over or he can fetch weapons for the Forge, or Marcus combining his ult with a Fahz for headshots) working together which is extremely absent in even Custom matches. Playing Kait on higher difficulties(esp with the extra damage modifier) without having a Jack healing you all the time is really annoying, especially once you’ve passed wave 30. She deals less damage while being restricted to mostly close range and kind of mid range with the Overkill and Gnasher, and relies on having a Jack using faster healing, and possibly healing distance, to be able to keep firing effectively. In 5 Horde, not even blind firing your weapons works to keep you safe. They still hit you anyway. Almost every time I have played her on Insane and upwards, I was outdamaged by JD due to his range advantage at some point beyond the early waves, didn’t get healed by Jack much unless he was reviving players from range, and after wave 30 would have real problems getting any hits or reliable damage in without having to expose myself a lot and unnecessarily. Just isn’t fun. But while I like doing explosives, the way JD plays out often feels very mindless even using a varied set of weapons over only 4 Lancer GLs. Kait is somewhat less worse on that regard. You at least have to do more than point in the general direction of an enemy to hit them with your Very tries”

Meanwhile, once JD has a locker, he literally needs no one else to do as much damage as he possibly can, from any range. I’ve had the argument that he’s way too OP countered by him not being useful in close quarters, but he’s not if you have any clue how you should use an explosive weapon when enemies are closer to you, doesn’t require perma healing from Jack and can deal damage at pretty much any range all the while having even higher damage potential than Kait, or anyone else on the team.

It certainly shows…I really hope Gears of War 6 gets an actual polishing before release, dealing with a rushed product is just frustrating.

If skills are going to be permanently tied to characters, then I hope dupes become a possibility.

Ideally I would love for skill cards to be shared among all characters so you can have more customization options for class loadouts while also maintaining character choice freedom.

I replied to @N0DEZER0 about this and it would take way more development time to do classes for all characters, or revamp the system, than lock the abilities to specific characters. Apparently matchmaking may solve this issue so a player who has chosen the same character as you won’t be put into your lobby

What about del and Jd one of them dies in the campaign but their both in horde? Also what about Sarah Connor, kat and emile they aren’t even gears characters?

I agree with this. Most of my enjoyment in horde from the Gears 2, 3, and 4 was not only killing grubs with friends and having a good time, but also having the freedom of playing as any character I want. If I can’t have that same freedom in Gears 5’s horde because of some duplicate restriction then it’s dead to me.

4 wasnt great…but it had choice…could also manipulate cards so u didnt have to play pubs…on 5 u would not know who a decent player was…cause anyone can spam jd n kait…aint rocket science🤣

I dont care how long it takes to redesign or unbind chracters just fkn do i will deal with the conscqences of gears 6 development time later

TC has elected a slow version of fortnite battle royal. Every Tour of duty 1-2 new maps will be unlocked and 2 characters with ablity with horde. You will get a new tour to unlock fancy character and weapon skin. They can’t change that it’s in place so. Every 60 days get 2 new characters that kinda feel or maybe more. By the time First year past you will have 12 and prob 30-36 differnt skins. It’s a slow process by TC wants the game to run that way sadly like most MMO style base games. After 2-3 years you would have 24-36 characters or skins. So let say some join gears 5 3 years later they probably get all the skins. Meh. It will work out! You can don’t have to just play Gears 5 only. There are other games to play in between. I shuffle 4-5 games through a 40 hour work week. Take it slow …

Chill man, a lot of us wish it was as free as previous ones. But realistically the hero variants are what TC has built this mode around so maybe a role queue + Hero Lock is in order.

Believe me I hate being restricted to a few characters since they all mechanically play the same. It’s not like Overwatch where every character is unique in their controls and abilities.

Don’t say that too loudly or we’ll see it with a 3,000 iron price tag.

I want me a Sniper Kait hero with the same Ultimate, but skill cards that synergize stealth with a sniper role.

Increased damage on shots/attacks while in stealth. Stealth still breaks upon firing.

Stealth engages from cover after X seconds and breaks upon attacking/shooting or leaving cover.

Extended slide/ cover-to-cover distance.

Reduced pistol kick and/or other pistol cards.

Bleed damage on active Talon reloads.

Critical kills recharge Ultimate/Stealth

Damage Resistance when roadie running/bayonet charging
AND/OR
Damage Resistance to long range attacks.

Increased damage to wounded targets.

Standard precision weapon skills.

Who was this horde variant aimed at?..definitely not the players who already played the game b4…its a pity they wont put classic mode in…n let cod players ect piss about with what tc created for them🤔

First off, some things to say/ask.

  1. Your idea of Kait’s stealth seems more like a passive, rather than an ultimate ability, given it activating when you go into cover. Which would make more sense if shots still broke it. If it was an ultimate I’d rather take something that its duration would be reduced by X number of seconds per shot, or have that as the Legendary skill.

  2. Why no skill that amplifies headshot damage? Unless I’m mistaken Fahz doesn’t have a skill that actually increases the damage of headshots specifically, but just precision weapons.

Damage reductions seem a little pointless on anything above Elite right now tbh. Enemies do so much damage they effectively negate almost all the damage reducing and/or health boost skills/perks you may have. So I don’t know how adding those, especially against opponents with long range weapons like Hunters, Snipers or Sniper Elites which are always an automatic one shot down(Snipers at any point, Hunters after wave 30 at least on Master), is really going to be of any use outside of lower difficulties.
