I’ll check that out when i get home, i was referring to gamescore on scoreboard during matches, not everall stats , good that you brought that up , they can check into that if it’s not updating overall stats

to be honest this one doesn’t feel like a ranking rather than a progression system with a cap

with this system in place, a player doesn’t get measured for their actual skill level, rather moved through a scale after completing a series of mini quests

before going into specifics, we should address two of the main gripes with the game itself:

  • to always start at bronze at the start of any operation

mixing high and low skill players is what already happened in previous ops and was bad. Starting from scratch everytime means real bronze/silver/gold players get absolutely destroyed by those with consolidated diamond/masters performances resulting in frustration for everyone especially with a slow progression like the newly introduced one
returning players who wants to resume their gears experience would hit another wall as soon as the operation starts, we shouldn’t want that in general.
In my opinion, a player must keep some value from the previous seasonal ranking during matchmaking while still not interfering with rewards

  • stacks

we know playing with friends is fun, more than going solo but a full team with comms would always throw everything out of the window in terms of balance
even a 2 stack could be problematic, still I won’t suggest solo and team queue as population and ranks might not be enough to feed both

the point system as a whole might work better with a few adjustment
previous scoring system measured (then mashed into a whole number) various aspects of a player’s performance during a match
it is now summarized to 3 specific items which cannot represent the full package (elims, caps, breaks).
koth is a complex game mode in which there’s multiple propaedeutical items to the ultimate goal of capping more rings/points than the enemy

I’ve already debated the fact that we need more items to stack up points while still not losing the eliminations value:
ultimately, if your enemies are busy respawning, there’s less on the map to contest a ring capture or going for a break.
kill count could use some diminishing returns, past a certain amount, the more you land, the less score stacks. This is of course to prevent points farming and should be applied in general to everything.

still, we must account for support roles, controlling a ring means someone has to stay back, pinning while marking and damaging the enemies for someone else to complete the kill and cap.
An assist could be assigned if an enemy is hit/marked from afar but still killed from someone within the ring
we should separate assists from kills, 2 different table items with different values. Beware to not force support players into rushing because assists may not be worth the time and effort.

early rotation should account for something if the ring is succesfully capped afterwards: we already have a ‘next’ indicator, if a player stays in the proximity of the area then proceeds to capture there should be at least a 1.5x multiplier

power weapons are another item we should see, picking them up or protecting them (ie killing the foes that are in the pickup animation) should reward something as it’s part of the package to control them

so to summarize my idea the table could look like:

kills (logarythm progression / diminishing returns)
assists (half kills value - logarythm progression / diminishing returns)
caps (a number that is compared to the max unique caps landed in game)
breaks (a number that is compared to the max unique breaks landed in game)
rotations (compared to max first ring caps as soon as they’re available)
power weapon pickup or denial

of course the weight of everything as well as points thresholds should be changed accordingly

Trying again today for a gridiron ranked match. Been searching for 30mins on fast matchmaking. Researching every 5 mins. In a party of 3 all gold ranks & all from uk.
Getting close to given up until this is fixed.

Preach. Dude on here in another thread actually had the audacity to argue that 40 kills and 2 caps deserves MVP over 90 kills with 1 cap:

Like what do you mean just? What do you think those players would be doing with those 90 lives if I wasn’t out there slaying them? Take away that killer and suddenly taking (and especially holding) the hill becomes way harder.

I guess just getting 90 kills is easier than stepping onto a cleared out hill for a few seconds now, according to these people and the GP cap on eliminations.

I think there’s this misconception out there that slayers are dumbasses who don’t realize there’s an objective but in reality most of us are probably “just” hunting down enemies to keep pressure off our team so they can take/hold the hill easier.

Gnahser inconsistency is bigger than before

Here’s the thing YOU don’t seem to realize… In that scenario you become the SUPPORT player. You support the people that are actively holding the objective. And what have I heard from this community over & over again? “Support players do not come out on top”

We thank you for your good work clearing out the enemies, however, that’s you doing what you’re supposed to be doing to help the TEAM win.

Stick with it. It’s preseason. I was having lots of success solo queue and when I partied up it wasn’t going so well. Some of these stacks are unorthodox(TDM), after talking about it with @Metal_Gear_Mo we found great success last night. I’ve been on a stack where we been rolled bad by randoms and I’ve been with Randoms where I’ve rolled stacks. Even @Metal_Gear_Mo was thinking to himself he forgot how to play this dam game. Stick with it bro. Your just in a slump like we were. Matchmaking is alot more competitive than it was with previous rank system Imo.

I’ve played enough to know I don’t enjoy it.

The new system isn’t rewarding enough to make me want to continue playing the team modes.

I’m playing well, but I’m getting bad luck with randoms . As I said before, it’s literally easier for me to win an FFA than it is a KOTH match right now. But I’m enjoying FFA, so it’s not all bad. If they make changes or I can find a stack, I’ll come back to KOTH.

I guess I wouldn’t use the term “competitive” when it’s me and 3-4 people who don’t speak my language vs. a 5 man with comms.

But I do know in the higher levels there do seem to be more comp matches based on what I’ve watched on Twitch, so that’s a good thing.

It’s just after 7pm in the UK and I have been queueing for 10 minutes for a Ranked FFA match. Didn’t think it would take this long! Still haven’t played a single match on this mode. Got quick matches in 2 Vs 2 Gnasher though.

Is that your GT? Nothing comes up.

Nah, I changed it. I’ll send you an add.

Ok I had a question on a different thread, that funny enough wasn’t moved here… but I’ll try it again…

Idk where to post… good as any lol I’m trying to find out how we even lose points anyway. I obviously just started even messing with Ranked, been playing Guardian obviously
I’m confused where the deductions come in though, hasn’t happened to me yet, obviously just started so im Bronze 2 in Gridiron after 4 games… ironically perfect balance cause I went 2-2 for the 4 games lol

Regardless I know we have an entry cost at later tiers which obviously means you lose those points if you don’t at least perform good enough to get that back… but that surely can’t be it, right? How would you ever derank from Bronze 3 to Bronze 2 if you had a horrible stran of bad luck and performances that should warrant that happening. That’s all I’m trying to figure out lol earning points is clear and obvious… but not losing, other than entry cost.

You can’t derank in Bronze. Maybe there is a GP penalty for quitting. Anyone can make it to silver just with play time alone. How fast you get to silver depends on you and if your winning or not.

Then idk if I’m a fan of the new system lol… I like it working and being clear and obvious… but if entry fee is all you can lose… sounds a little TOO generous to me. There’s gotta be a fine line.

Stuck in Silver 2, and don’t go up anymore… :pensive:

Lol… Then you’re one of the few people that feel like this, especially with the higher ranks REQUIRING you to win to even clear the entry cost.

Not really because once you get higher your win total only offsets entry in Onyx 3. 150 for win 150 entry. So personal performance with a win is your only way to climb. I believe it’s 175 to enter in Diamond not quit sure. So even if you win your losing 50gp unless you perform. Max GP to gain is 100. When lobbies are all match made by highest rank of player on one team. Your not getting carried after a certain point your going to plateu. Bronze is bronze and nothing else. Entry level.

Update. Just hit D1 Solo queue. Beat a stack Diamond and Onyx lobby. Even though we one 2-0 Top GP was 84. I don’t know if it was lag or hit detection. A couple times a half of clip of Lancer didn’t give me a eliminations. Even though it was only one match. Elims were alot harder to come by.

imo how to improve the ranking system

  • Remove point caps on things such as eliminations. everything should give points as it did before, cap the amount of GP per match to 100 for anything you do that way you dont get punished for slaying instead of capping rings or getting touchdowns.

  • Remove the GP counter from the screen or allow it to be toggled

  • Dont base the match mvp off GP but instead points, a losing team MVP that has more points than the winning team mvp deserves recognition

  • Give points for downs, and revives in all modes.

  • Give end of match bonus points for most kills, best team player ect

  • Add an Execution/Warzone playlist back to ranked where you can vote on what mode to play like in gears 2.

  • Subtract points for deaths and or rounds lost.

  • Somehow cap the amount of players allowed in diamond/masters to a percentage if someone hits masters and stops playing they should lose the rank but still keep the rewards.

A step in the right direction, although it is too easy to get masters. i dont have much time to play and ive already hit Gold 3 in Gridiron in a week. Also debuff the lancer and the gnasher poke range.

Its impossible to find matches, come on. And needing to pay to play just make people rethink if they want to enter ranked
