Ranked Preseason Feedback

Don’t like the Ranking system GP for KOTH. More adjustments are needed for GP or entry fee needs to be lowered. Go by score also.
At first I like the system now since GP has been reduced to 1 the Grind is ridiculous even worse for solo play.
Just look at look at the entry fee and everything as a whole it’s not hard to figure out what is wrong.

Just felt like it.

People were having a great time with the original gp point system.

Then a couple pro’s & wannabes cried that is was too easy to climb.

Now we have this atrocious system where it’s practically like the old system. You win 4-5 straight & 1 loss erases that.

At least in the old system I would not lose points for being the best on the losing team or lose enough points for 2 games.

But yeah both are bad.

Some Pros suck at the game. I have beaten a few of them along with their lovers online more than once in ranked koth. lol that’s why they lose there Master all the time and want to grind up again.

They are gluttons for punishment that’s why they ask TC to make the ranking harder. They like to hid in their little scrims and only desire to get embarrassed by each other and not randoms because they can pull the at least I got beat by a pro card hahaha

Exactly.

Just because they get beat by “randoms” they feel entitled to change the system.

They can’t cope with someone who doesn’t want to be pro beating them.

They cry the loudest too. As if they speak for the community.

The ranking system still stinks. Although I do find it more bearable since they changed elims to 1 point. Still hope they just get rid of elims and bring kills back tho.

Ranked gridiron is very hard to find matches?? This wasn’t a problem before operation 4…

I agree 100% they cry the most and they are a minority in this game but TC will cater to them no matter what!!

Let’s cater to people who make thousands off TC just to play but not the people who pay for their merchandise, pro skins, watch esports & don’t make a single penny from playing…

Crazy how upside down this is.

Ranked has a few problems that need to be addressed .

  1. It is absolutely impossible to play solo queue, particularly at higher ranks. This has been somewhat of a problem in the past, but with this new system it seems especially bad. I understand they are also working on something to make it better for solo queuers. Good for them.

  2. Why should eliminations be worth the same points as a full kill? If I DBNO someone on my own and my teammate comes over and finishes them, we each get the same amount of points for that kill. That makes absolutely no sense.

  3. Connection issues/Quitters. Playing a 4v5 just about guarantees a defeat. It’s one thing if people are quitting, but what about people having server connection issues? They get booted, lose their entry cost, and severely hurt their team.

  4. The GP cap feels low. It quickly becomes impossible bring your rank up as a solo player. In fact, you can very easily go down after a great game at the higher ranks. Basically, the ranking system is too dependent on team play and not personal performance. I get that there has to be a balance to prevent people from farming/camping/etc., but you ought to be able to go up or at least break even if you play significantly better than your opponents.

  5. I missed ranked TDM. I guess it’s coming back but I can’t play it with my friends. Almost always get three of us together but we won’t be able to queue under the new TDM rules.

One of TC talking points was incentive to stay in a match when you have a quitter. Earn some GP back. With the change made to GP there really is not a incentive to stay and play. More adjustments to caps are needed. Bring back the score and just award GP. If this issue isn’t address you just threw away all your progress. Why do you want to always shoot yourself in the foot for?

Making the grind longer is not going to keep your player base. It’s only going to frustrate players. Bring back placement matches, bunching everyone in bronze again for regular season is not going to help one bit.

I like the premise of the new system and it’s straightforwardness. But it needs some fine tuning. Here is my feedback from my time playing Ranked KOH (currently Gold tier) ,

  • I’d like to see the caps raised or eliminated and GP cost lowered on GOLD Tier at least. No matter how well you perform in a ranked KOH match in Gold you can’t rank up unless you win. And that is too often influenced by quitters lately.

-The GP cost from Silver to Gold doubles, then goes up incrementally from there. Why such a large jump? I propose taking GP cost for Gold down to 100. Silver tier was easy and I breezed through that. Because even if we lost or we had a quitter I’d perform well enough to gain rank or stay even at worst. Gold is turning into a serious grind due to the high cost of matches and rampant quitting.

-80 Eliminations is too low a cap. Raise it significantly or eliminate it altogether. Also 10 point cap for CAPS and BREAKS is too low. It’s KOH. It’s not uncommon to see people with 15-20 caps or more. Raise that to 20-25. It’s the whole point of the game, yet they are disincentivizing it. Hard to figure that one. The overly stingy caps negate a good chunk of your performance if you do well, which again, makes it a major grind to rank up. In the last ranking system, even in a loss I could gain rank if I played really well. I feel like they are taking part of your match statistics and essentially throwing them in the garbage, as you gain nothing form them at a certain cap limit.

  • I think 5-7 Placement matches could be a good idea instead of starting everyone at Bronze.

  • TC should seriously consider factoring in some sort of reduction in penalty when a teammate quits. We can all attest to this scenario where we are winning a match only to have a teammate quit and thereby miss out on an otherwise easy win. It’s a rampant issue and it’s making it next to impossible for many people to rank up. So instead of losing 70-80 points maybe you lose 35-40?

  • I haven’t run into many 5 stacks in Gold. Sometimes a 2-3 stack but very frequent from my experience. The last two 5 stacks we played , we destroyed them so maybe it’s different in Diamond? I’m not opposed to playing stacks occasionally but I’d rather play solo’s as that’s what I typically play. Maybe in KOH they do a 3 stack limit?

FFA is the only mode that does it right GP wise…
what I mean is KOTH you never feel rewarded after silver
the win bonus should be at least 200 GP.
I have seen diamond players dragging on the game because you can’t get enough GP straight up

I love the concept of the new ranking system but this preseason has honestly been the most unenjoyable ranked experience I’ve ever had in any Gears game.

Won about 8 KOTH games, dropped one game, and had one game cancel out which then took away 170 points.

To sum it up, started the day at Diamond 3, ended up in Diamond 2 after having a “winning day” In any other game you’re definitely not dropping to a lower rank after winning 8 games and dropping one. @TC_Sera I hope you guys are reading this thread. The community doesn’t like the most recent change and there is more to be done to the system. The idea is great but the delivery currently it’s not working at all. Don’t need to expound as many before have stated already what is wrong with it. Biggest issue is that it doesn’t help solos at all and stacks are the only ones with masters. Not to mention there are players not so good at the game getting carried to masters. It’s not fair to the players that are actually good at the game.

Please listen to the community on this one and not the “select few”

BTW, never got those points back that I lost for having a lobby dissolve

I’ve been masters in all the previous operations by playing solo (I was global 68 on op 3). The rank system back then actually took into account if you were doing good or not. Now, playing rank in operation 4 solo is impossible. I’ve been stuck in silver and gold for the entire preseason, always up against ex-masters and having teammates who seem to be barely figuring out the controls. It doesn’t even matter if you max out your elims, caps, and breaks gp, because it will always be lower than the match cost, leaving you in an endless loop of ranking and deranking.

“just find a team” it’s hard when everyone is looking for onyx+ and won’t believe you when you tell them you used to be masters and/or don’t invite you because you are a pc player.

Screw this new rank system.

Trash the Rankeds system. I don’t understand who asked for the “Gear Ponits” to be lowered due to low, who benefits? The cost of entering the games remains the same, and that only makes it more frustrating to go up. And worst of all, the coldness of the system when a player leaves the game leaving his team at a disadvantage with almost a certain defeat. It is a complete stupid to have eliminated the possibility of returning to the games, since there is no compensation to the players affected by the departure of a player … they leave, you lose the game and they lower you, (not to mention that many of the exits are by failure of the horrible servers). Another bad thing is the fact of having a limit of Gear Points per game and that as you do them it is more difficult to get more, because from 90 you already have to do a thousand casualties so that they give you a point that in the end will be worth the same at the time of entering and that they charge you or that you lose and take them away. What happens if we combine these two factors of the limit of Gear Points and the exit of players? Well, there is almost no joke to continue playing or fighting for something in the game when your points are going to go away anyway. And if in any case you continued playing well, you could only get to make 100 miserable points so that (in my case being Onice) you lose 50 points, and that assuming that the game lasts so long. Just now I just lost a game due to the departure of a player, we were about to win, but the disadvantage was clear. I broke my back fighting the first two rounds reaching 97 points, to know that in the third I would lose and only aspired to 3 more points. I played for almost half an hour with one less player to lose in the end and on top of that they won’t let me reach 100 because for that I have to make another 50 casualties, right? They only waste time to the players, because also, if you leave the game because you know that you are going to lose and there is no point, the game punishes you. Obviously this only benefits TC, so that we play their game longer. I am already very upset, and I am less and less attracted to play, I have stopped doing it often for those reasons and I am glad that many friends of mine are also leaving it, because the truth is that what they do is horrible. And if this is not fixed by the last update, for sure I will leave the game and I strongly believe in many other players as well.

Yes, for sure. 130 GP to enter a gold match is steep. 150 GP for the win barely makes up your entry fee. Very lame. Even with stats adding to the total, when you stomp another team you end up with maybe 70 GP after a dominating performance!? Doesn’t feel right. I hope TC is getting the message that the system needs some tweaking.

All the point you make are valid and good and express the problems with the current Rank system. I enjoy playing but truth be told , my motivation to rank up is pretty much nonexistent at this point. The stingy caps , GP costs ( GOLD and up) and frequent quitting are making it near impossible at this point.

To be clear , I like the idea of the new ranking system but it really needs some adjustments. Without those adjustments I think it’s going to drive a lot of players away. There are too many things stacked against the player . The easiest way to say this is that Wins are rewarded less and Losses are penalized more .

Example: GOLD KOH Ranked. Last night we stomp a team and end up with 60-70 GP. This feels stingy. It’s not even enough GP to cover the cost of HALF a Gold match?! Cmon. Conversely , if you have a quitter or get stomped you might lose 100 GP or more.

I hope this feedback can help make the rank system a little fairer and responsive to the community.

I am not sure still why we changed the ranking system so much in the first place?

We had an accurate representation of performance with the old scoring system. This included revives, assists, kills, downs, breaks, caps, everything!

The problem was that the ranking system ignored every part of it and made its own judgement and couldn’t understand what a 4 v 5 was.

My preference: go back to the old system and make the scoreboard reflect the ranking system.
