On one hand that’s a hell of a stupid decision, but on the other at least good players ranking bronze is not a “mistake” made by the ranking system. I don’t really know what i’d have prefered but i feel like regarding matchmaking and the ranking system, everything they make is just making it worse …

It’s made worse by the fact that rank points in bronze are also broken. I made a thread about it that you can find on my profile history, if you’re interested in more details.

Just saw your thread it’s incredible how people who are paid for this can make such decisions, i can’t understand …
People said it here countless times, it’s incredible how out of touch they are but this … despite being only and thankfully only a minor problem it’s incredible that they made one day this decision, and all aggreed that it was what should be done …

Right? Well its funny. When it was “broken” everyone was sent to silver. And its supposed to be “fixed” now everyone is sent to bronze. Lol Absolutely broken system.
I think it has something to do with less tier work for the system to do because of very low player count. I can forgive the useless ranking if they fix the gameplay!

I’ve seen many master ranked players in bronze 1. Reason I can tell is because they are using that dumb ■■■ lancer skin. Now, I dont care what placement anyone is I am decent enough to put up a fight even if they are better than me however as people who are truely bronze 1 players and are getting steam rolled it is problematic because my team score largely affects my ranking been bouncing back and forth between bronze 1 and bronze 2 all week. Its ludacris.

I’ve hopped on for the first time on well over a month. Can say that rank is still as ■■■■■■■ ■■■■ compared to when I left it.
2 matches, 2 losses.
I’m usually mvp or second highest in the team with score and I’m decent. Got onyx and nearly diamond in this first season so yeah the system is ■■■■■■■ horrible.
Ranking is actually a joke. I was ranked bronze 1 after 2 months not playing. I am matched with master sweaties, which is fine, but losing rank points when I am already in bronze tier is kinda stupid.

TDM 5 matches played, 5 defeats. I actually played alright coming top 2in each game alas that means feck all.

Some points. To get the actual 5 games I think I was in about 12 lobbies, the Ping on a few games was200-600. I’m uk based!
Last game I got 20 kills , player on our team had 23 deaths!!!

That’s strange at least in TDM i played all my games in Europe so far, unlike Escalation or Execution where i like NEVER played in Europe at all.
But yeah idk, i suppose most people should team up if they want to win, this morning i finished a game 38-3 (i won 2-1) and i lost a round … the 2nd round i was doing something like 10-2 and we were behind in lifes and lost …
I mean here are the 2 games i did this morning, (only screened after the first round because i always forget at the end of the game), i mean those games are fun for nobody, 9 people looking me playing …
They should just simplify the rank system altogether, or scrap it. The current system just has way too many factors to consider when matchmaking and allocating points at the end of the match, that as soon as something isn’t working right, the whole system crumbles.
To think that TC (Ryan specifically) thinks that this system is great is beyond me. Truly THE worst ranking system and one of the worst matchmaking systems in the industry.

Your visual rank doesn’t match your true skill rank. They said matchmaking is done on true skill level. So while you may be facing a lot of bronze or silvers, the majority of those are also higher in true skill rank; meaning they too were onyx/diamond last season and are working their way up.
I think they started everyone at bronze to decrease the bottle neck effect. Those like you who are master will obviously rank up super fast after some games.
You are not really ranked against anyone. Your total team points should be relatively close to the others team. So while you may be playing with a silver as a master, the other team may be all gold and a diamond to balance it. With you being so good, you will be needed to help with the win.
The system isn’t perfect. But it’s better than Gears 3 where everything was truly random.
Quitting is an issue. They said they are working to make players play an X amount of social games before being allowed back into ranked. Hopefully this keeps quitters out. They also stated there are new players who play ranked that may not understand the quitting aspect.
I’d take gears 3s system over gears 5 any day.
Gears 5s system is a million miles away from “not perfect”. It’s a shambles at present.

Random placement where you can fight teams of 5 continuously and fight nothing but bots? No.
Gears 5 is not “in shambles”. Prior to the fix it was definitely horrible and I would agree (ie when the numbers given at the end were basically random).
Since the fix and launch of OP2, it seems and feels much better. Is there room for improvement? Obviously. Is it unplayable because its in shambles? No way.

Sorry, I couldn’t disagree more. There has been no “fix” to matchmaking at all. You regularly get paired with players who have never played the game before, going 2-12 whilst you’re solo and the opposition is a stack.
Ask anyone here, they’ll tell you the same thing. TC has not changed the matchmaking system since launch. The only thing that they changed was ping and matchmaking times.
I’m afraid you’re mistaken. The ranking system is still borked too. The last “fix” changed nothing.
