Random horde poll #2

You realize that Mac usually has a perk that regens ammo for his Boltok, right? Lahni isn’t exactly viable in PH either.

Escape is a really bad example when there’s certain characters that break the ammo-ecnonmy entirely to the point where you don’t know what to do with all the ammo.

And as long as you know what you’re doing you’ll never run out of ammo with any class. Sure, some classes need a locker eventually but if you constantly run out of ammo something’s wrong with your team.

Leaving all that aside, the bleeding Boltok isn’t exactly Macs go to weapon in Horde - Master. Enemies won’t bleed out and Bullet Chain allows for some hefty damage with the Longshot.

  1. Sure, why not? Could be a “toggable” mutator like in campaign to either increase/decrease points (that’s how it should’ve been from the start tbh).

  2. Idk, haven’t played for a while. Unless they patched their Ultimate duration “bug”, Jack is still extremely powerful (I posted a dedicated thread here about it). With the new skill cards, even more than that.

  3. I assume? What about Tactician though? Rocking those basically infinite Boomshots can be kinda fun. (again, haven’t played for a while)

  4. Out of your options, option B is definitely the worst. If you want to make it even worse, add some freezing enemies since those insta-kill you instead of downing you.

  5. I don’t care about this mutator, never did.

  6. I haven’t fought the Wakaatu in Horde yet so I can’t judge it. The worst enemies are (in open fields) the Kestrel (if you want to add Sentinels, then those too) followed by a Swarmak and then a Matriarch. With a good team that knows what they’re doing, it’s really just the flyer that are an issue.

  7. Icebound is even worse in my opinion. Vasgar is quite alright. You can easily setup on either side on the elevated parts of the map.

If you use the fab to cut off the back stairs access all enemies are forced onto the catwalk… Then you just need to worry about flyers, which is an issue on any map, i guess…

But if you wont do that, yeah, i guess it is an annoying map…

I beat it with today’s modifiers first try in the spawn(because I was not interested at all cheesing the tower) with Gunner, Infiltrator, Mechanic, Marksman and Robotics Expert. It’s more down to teammates and possibly also classes present in match, I would think.

Nope, if you actually throw them in front of Juvies they usally get killed while walking through them and Scions/Wardens can’t do anything while walking through them + the initial explosion immediately gets rid of Sentinel/Guardian shields.

What card would that be?

Why would you ever shock-tag a Juvie if he’s already in melee-range?

You mean the one that is frags-only?

You don’t know how to cheese the final wave at the helipad I assume?

It says it’s frags only but I’ve had surprisingly effective results throwing a bunch of shocks or incendiaries at Scions and other bigger enemies with the class, though being uncertain if that was just a result of the extra grenade capacity.

Haven’t tested further because I only played the promos on Jingle Juvies in Horde for the most part so I wouldn’t have to bother with them further after they got to level 20.

It applies to shocks and to a lesser degree incendiaries too. The initial blast radius when the shock goes off is bigger but the AoE is still the same. The damage of the shock field is stronger though. Incendiaries just do more damage when they blow up on their target (from what I have observed.)

You know the little room in the far back, right side? Tag 1-2 nades in there and sit in the coverpiece in the middle of the room when the door is closing.

None of the above. Gears 2 / Horde 1.0 FTW.

I heard about that just recently. Obviously with that glitch, Icebound becomes a joke.

  1. Yes, generally teams don’t wipe because they haven’t got enough ammo, they generally wipe due to bad set-ups; bad player decisions; poor card set-ups; not knowing their class very well etc.

  2. No, but they have reduced in popularity largely due to power taps and the generally boring playstyle people want from Jacks on higher difficulties. Other than that, Jack is highly reliant on the Ult for the more offensive playstyle, and generally people find it more difficult because having a Jack is taking away from another person doing damage, and you are more reliant on a good set-up from the Engineer.

  3. I don’t think so? I actually don’t really know what the most beloved class is, there are some people like more than others though.

  4. B. Health is one of the biggest sources of difficulty in the mode, take off the health and in most scenarios for incon it is easier comparatively than taking off, say power drain for example. More health and regen and vampire with Reflective Shields for Drones, and Shielded Scions? Nah. I’d rather not deal with that.

  5. No, although I do think that it should be placed last for public lobby searching. I know the reasoning of why it is one of the first mutators as explained by people at TC, but I feel like its taking away a benefit for the few.

  6. Depends on the Map, but generally, I’d say either A or E.

  7. Its a difficult map but no, I think the most difficult in my experience is either Pahanu or Icebound. Vasgar is rough to set-up on but once you have your base set up it isn’t really that difficult. I suppose I could say that for the vast majority of maps though. But it is one of the more difficult maps.

But less health also means less Ult-recharge?

But in most cases the Damage-increase through Ults neglects the additional enemy-hp.

Horde with randoms isn’t a good indicator for anything. Playing with randoms is like Russian roulette with 5 bullets in the chamber and still hoping you’ll survive.

But Jack would benefite from Gambit?

1: Yes

2: No

3: Yes. Marksman is the most versatile and devastating class in skilled hands in both Horde and Escape.

Don’t care about 4-6.

7: I don’t know about absolutely the most difficult, but I hate playing on Abyss. It’s a terrible experience. The map would be better off removed from the game, and that’s the first time I’ve thought that in Gears history.

Mechanic and Robotics have increased Shock damage from DB damage card. Robotics also has Parting Gift card which does increased +100% damage on tagged enemy, but almost nobody uses that.

True, that would be a downside.

However, I would rather take the Ultimate recharge decrease that comes with the reduced enemy health. Most ultimate cooldowns are quick enough anyway or have cards/perks which speed this up. That’s what I prefer though.

A factor to be aware of certainly.
