PvE is starting to be as toxic as PvP

You say that as if the chances to make that 50 aren’t better when forging more weapons

I just make lobbies and let everyone do whatever. Most of the people that join aren’t meta characters and we still win a masters 1-50 proving that the meta doesn’t mean a damn thing. You could even win without en engineer and its arguably more fun.

As for your claims to PVE getting more love than PVP that’s just not true. Maybe in this and the next operation yeah sure. But the OPs before have been more PVP based and TC even admitted to dropping the ball when it came to PVE.
Hell there’s a whole bus of characters people can’t use in PVE because they have to wait three more months until the PVE modes turn into what they’ve should’ve been in the first place. And you’re forgetting that the horde specific maps and escape maps are all made using tiles that TC have admitted (once more) to feeling samey or boring and out of the maps released for horde only one of them actually offers a fun experience.

I can wait, even though horde has gotten stale for me since the characters I wanna use aren’t around rn and the ones I’m stuck with (except a few) are just kinda boring. But the way TC is going about releasing information is still crap no matter which way you slice it. They either don’t say anything about what’s coming at all or give out the same answer every time to the point where it drives people nuts.

All they have to do is give everyone a progress update on how things are going and most will be fine with that. But they won’t do that and instead just do what I said in the above paragraph so it’s no wonder everyone’s pissed or impatient.

Engineers are a huge quality of life improvement for any team, having barriers set up to keep little guys away from you, having a few overclocked lockers, not having to buy a repair tool yourself and bare the super slow repair times for non engineers… Although in a frenzy its sorta irrelevant in a 1-50 Engineers make life so much easier.

Although Engineers definitely aren’t necessary, I am always extremely grateful for having one on my team

I’ve found there are two types of engineers. One wants to top the board with cheap kills (using our loot to do so) and the other wants to set it up for team win. The first often likes to clutter the base (making it a pain to move around when there is heat) and also likes to place an array of sentries and traps on the front. The other mostly builds and maintains barriers, a locker here and there, one or two sentries placed at the fallback - for flyers, and as decoys and extra guns in dire need if the front gets overun. The first engineer tops the board all right, for awhile, while the big hitters other than maybe fahz kinda mosey. The entry ways are clogged with sentry and trap spam blocking sightlines, firelanes, and movement. Then wave eight hits and all hell breaks loose, the matriarch, or snatcher destroys the fronts and everyone’s left to run around like chicken with it’s head cut off because there is no fall back, and the team wipes.

Three of four frenzy matches last night, were like that, on inconvievable pub.

The last match i played we had no engineer. But i was gifted a fabulous team. We had a very good jack (thank god), an astonishing cog gear, and two grenadiers JD and keegan. I was the cover girl. I was the number one damage dealer with 1.8million. Thats Kait if she has access to the front. Thats what she does. No news there. Keegan blew out 800k, JD 660K, but the cog gear put up an amazing million and i’m dumbfounded as to how. I would have liked to seen what that cat was doing round after round but i was on the left holding it down with the occasional helping hand while the others handled the middle and the right. So i wasn’t able to see what he was up to. There were plenty of crazy bits certainly, and lots of heroics on everyone’s part, but we won the day - on dam - set up in the hellhole - with just an array of barriers, one shared weapons locker, good teamwork - and no ‘me, me, me’ engineer.

Nah, PVE has always been like this. Some players are basically control-freaks who want to micromanage what other people do.

But equally there are players who do things which annoy team mates, especially the host. Sometimes it’s down to idiocy. Other times it’s down to lack of, or poor communication. This can range from building things as a non-engineer and without asking the engineer (or host), especially in the early stages when money is tight. Moving fortifications without communicating why (sometimes it’s as simple as moving something because it blocks a sightline). Or just being selfish and taking other people’s weapons, or emptying their weapon locker.

Also in the lobby browser, there are so many people who can’t or won’t read the lobby title. I mean, if the host asks for a specific character, then don’t be surprised to get kicked if you refuse to comply. By all means make a case for a different character, but ultimately it’s not your lobby.

And too many people who are low level wanting to be carried on master difficulty. This is a particular thing in Escape and it frustrates hosts no end.

Says who? Casuals?

Tried too many times, never works.

When we are not playing we’re friends here  , however I do agree that when we play we tried to see who is the smartest . but it doesnt mean we’re toxic by all means.

To each his/her own. If someone starts a lobby let them make whatever rules they want. I host Master Escape runs all the time and couldn’t care less if you are a level 1 Del/Kat (both characters have no use in Escape at all) or an 18 Cole. Each person has his/her own definition of fun and that’s what it’s all about. For some people fun means taking things very seriously, for others it means doing whatever they feel like in the moment. Discussions like this are helpful to remind everyone of this.

You know I meant Kat, not Kait, lol.

You never know.

Fair enough. Btw, has anyone had any discussions about characters that are the most effective with bleed damage? I think Kait is, by far, the character that can do the most bleed out of anyone. She is an absolute beast in Escape (I don’t play much horde but I imagine she’s very effective there as well)!

lol… I joined an overload speed run last night, as paduk… We start… Baird offers Kait his overkill; she takes it, but gives him back the gnasher… He runs after her, offering the gnasher back… she replies with a “I don’t believe in the gnasher”…

I send a msg saying “I would love to get your retro” (for executions, for Paduk, right).

She replies with a

“I would love it if you ate my a$$”

I left… I don’t expect that game went to Victory…

I engineer a lot on master. I am finding as much as I want to be no 2 version you state I am finding it increasingly difficult now people have got used to perks. I am having runs where people ask for lockers first then fences. Fine, I build the lockers. Then once they have their own personal locker they start perking. Seriously twice yesterday I couldn’t even get more one locker to level 3 before we died on Overload because no one was depositing. Keegans are notoriously bad for this now. Also marcus, I was told that I didn’t know how to speedrun if I didn’t understand that Marcus had to perk straight away.

People have become incredibly greedy with resources now the game has got easier with marcus and certain cards have made people want to perk asap for kills. Like Claytons Salvo or mulcher spamming or keegans boomshot spam.

I’m hoping this settles down when Marcus is nuked because he’s creating the least enjoyable game since I started. Requests to not kill anyone or even shoot until the point Marcus can ULT skip every wave. People are trying to enjoy some form of game by perking up.

Only about 10 weeks left to suffer Marcus.

Ok, to be fair. Keegan and Clayton are two characters where they each have a perk which makes a WORLD of difference, but ONLY at level 10.

Explosive resupply and Chaingun ammo regen are both nothing more than annoyances until you get them to level 10. And, again, to be fair, once I get those to level 10, as either of those characters, I don’t need anything else, the whole game, from the engineer. Ok, ONE locker slot - for a single salvo for Keegan and for a cryo for Clayton…

So those characters, the perk should really just go from 0 to 10,because nothing in the middle makes any significant difference… But once you get to 10, whoa…

Lahni used to be, but she got nerfed 6 feet into the ground.

Lmmffaaoooooooo

Lahni was my favorite character until Op4. If you stack brawler with venom blade I think her bleed is actually higher now but her damage resistance in venom went from 50% to 32% so she is much less effective.

Kait got sorta nerfed a couple months back but she’s still very strong in Horde. I find her to be much more powerful in Escape though, since execution rules aren’t in effect and enemies can just bleed to death. But dude, Blood Resonance and Laceration with Gnasher Proficiency all at level 6, then you add in an Overkill? She’s literally the bleed goddess. Her biggest weakness in Horde is when you get into the later waves (30+) and everything turns into a long range shootout. She then has to transform from a shotgunner to a cloaked stealth killer. But she’s still incredibly valuable.

One of the guys here did some testing on Lahni’s bleed on Master difficulty and found that the extra bleed is pretty small with the Brawler card equipped compared to without it. I recall the difference in time it takes to bleed out an enemy was about half a second when used on Elite variants. I expect the difference is larger for big enemies, but their advice was basically Brawler isn’t as important unless you absolutely need the enemy to die straight away without relying on bleed, like Juvies on the Warren.
