I don’t have an extra keyboard lying around, so if I want to use the in-game chat to communicate, I need to use the Xbox’s virtual keyboard to type out my messages. And it is slow and laggy as heck on my Xbox One S. Is there any way to make it more responsive so that writing messages doesn’t take so long? Maybe capping the FPS at like 15 while it’s up to free up processing power? It’s not like I can see the pretty graphics while I have it open.

If you think Gears is bad, you should give Division 2 a try. Game almost crashes then.
But seriously, just get a keyboard from Amazon for 7-10 bucks.
Ever since I plugged in a keyboard, I have never wanted to go back. It is so much faster and easier. Best of all, you don’t even have to pause the game to type into chat, just press “U” and type away. Sometimes that doesn’t work though so beware.

Highly unlikely that they’ll do any work on the One S at this time, keyboard or chatpad is the way to go.

I just got a series x and of all the different things i wanted to see if it improved, when it came to gears, it was the virtual keyboard. Hopefully its no more 5 second wait times to register a letter.
But… But… The Division 2 is a great game! It never crashed for me… but sometimes it is lagging for me…
The virtual keyboard is pretty flawless on the Series X. It still takes forever to actually type with the controller though, definitely gonna find a real keyboard to plug in
