Playable Swarm / Locust Characters in Horde

You already said that as did I, I still think its a bad idea. (Infact, those skins were bad ideas, majority hates them, so for me its an invalid argument you’re making there) “They added those ■■■■ skins into the game that have nothing to do with gears why can’t we have more ■■■■ ideas?” smh

Sorry you couldn’t sway me.

#Beastmode2.0 don’t hate on the hash tag, everyone and their nan wants beastmode back.

Entitled! Hilarious, I’m just voicing my opinion and thoughts on this silly idea I call it silly because that’s what I think of it. (I can do that)

If the fact you can’t play as locust in horde is stopping you from having fun then you already aren’t having fun, so I’ll use that uno reverse card and ask you how that’s my problem? When things are fine for a lot of people and are still having fun without this idea implemented.

Who said I’m not having fun? I enjoy the game a good deal, I simply would enjoy it more if I were able to use all my skins in PvE.

In the end, I will continue to enjoy this game whether they add Locust skins to PvE or not, because I’m not some entitled creep who thinks the devs have to cater to my every whim.

“uno reverse card” Good lord, you sound so cringy, I feel gross for just having conversed with you.

You’re being extremely hostile considering I have simply voiced my opinion and do not agree with this idea.

You can! All cog skins are available to play in pve once you have unlocked them.

Not as cringy as the idea of fighting alongside swarm in a gamemode that dedicates itself to fighting a horde of swarm enemies :joy:

Hmm, I may have not communicated as clearly as I would prefer. My issue was less with you saying you dislike the idea of adding Locust skins to horde and escape, and more with you trying to insist that everyone has to back your “beastmode/overrun bandwagon”, that’s what annoyed me most.
You can say you dislike an idea I like as much as you want, that’s fine, but don’t try to tell me what ideas I should like,

Also, fighting alongside Locust, or even swarm, against the swarm, wouldn’t be cringy, it would be silly.
Silly, and ridiculous, but we already have grandmas, terminators, super soldiers from different dimensions, and WWE fighters in horde, so it’s already silly and ridiculous. If TC hadn’t already shoved all this silly guff into the game, I might be more inclined to agree with you.

I agree with this last comment.

This was completely unnecessary, however. Once you devolve into name calling no amount of rationality is going to sway your opposition.

I’d rather more people get to put in their two cents before this thread gets shut down.

Its something I wouldn’t mind, I’m all for character customisation. I didn’t used to be, but times change.

But I do think its one of those things on the, “Nice to have, but not really needed” list. I think the attention for Horde/Escape should be on providing more events, putting events into private Horde, and adding yet more mutators, letting mutators be freely chosen in private Horde.

Again, it would be something that would be nice to have, but I would rather TC focus their efforts elsewhere at this point in time.

A lot of people would have you believe the same thing about the series being taken over by TC and that’s an equally garbage argument. Change that neither fixes nor breaks anything is nothing to be fearful of.

How about I clarify something. I’m only pushing for this in THIS game, if they opted for this idea instead of a Swarm side PvE mode in Gears 6 then I’d be seeing a problem. I had the same sort of mindset as you around the time they decoupled characters from classes. I liked the idea that certain characters did certain things, it gave me more incentive to not play the same character constantly and as you stated before “they’re just character skins…”
But not everyone was playable and that irked some people, understandably. I was still of the belief that a million similar character-locked classes would be better than five or six classes with character customization, but then OP5 rolled around and I was pleasantly surprised.
I’ll leave you with this: just try to keep an open mind regarding changes that you can’t control yourself.

I prefer decoupled classes though, all I’m saying is we have factions for a reason AND there is a difference …regardless of whether you give them blue or red lights or not…

Maybe we should just scrap factions entirely then so versus gets the same treatment hmmm? (Sarcasm) Locust n cog together in versus YAY! Reminds me a lot of judgement! When they decided that faction looks don’t matter and they made every character cog, maybe we should just remove every cog character this time and have monster types ONLY, because factions don’t matter apparently.

Right now since this idea isn’t in game (Thankfully) I’m inclined to agree with this statement and at least we see eye to eye there, I’m not gonna ■■■■ on TC because current updates have been decent and they are at trying.

So you’re pro this idea out of spite? Don’t take it out on me then, many many players would rather the silly skins stayed out as would I, no need to send this series downhill any further.

I’m not telling you or anyone to do or like anything, if you don’t like beastmode or overrun then that’s fine, if you do… then why are we arguing? It was just a suggestion to one of TCs previously created problems.

Also beastmode could be a solution to this issue, you never know with TC judging by how they handled horde in Gears 5, they may add customization to the humanoid playables in beastmode… who knows :man_shrugging: it wouldn’t be so far fetched.

Okay, but that wasn’t the point.

Competitive and cooperative are two different things, and I’m only suggesting this be togglable for those that want it (you’d have to host a private game, it wouldn’t be in public). If you don’t like it that’s fine the chances you’d come across it in my best case scenario are slimmer than you may think.
Furthermore I could ask you what you think of Swarm/Locust and Lambent fighting on the same side when they were fighting first. The Lambent drove the Locust to the surface which initiated your sacred faction fighting

By your own logic it would be far-fetched because we have mixing of factions already.

That isn’t spite, it’s making the most of a situation.

Anyway, as you said you were voicing your opinion and this got a little blown out of proportion. I was just making a joke with

I did not intend to come off as needlessly combative or gang up on you.

Edit: I guess I should address this as well.

It sounded harsh and maybe I should rephrase it to:
If something so minor ruins an experience for you then is it really minor?
It’s a minor change, yes and maybe that was some of the issue for you. However it’s not so minor for the people that want it, I’m more passionate about being RAAM in Horde than I care to admit.
Again my proposal is a togglable option for private games so I can have my niche fun with my friends.

Enlighten me???

They’re all monsters and my point still stands, since gears 1 its always been about humans vs monsters, there has to be a line…else we get wwe characters, terminators and luchador oscar and colourblast crap as if that’s ok…

I was talking to @Lorialstraz

Neither do/did I and this still stands, we are all talking about a game and series we both love and play.

I agree with something toggable that’s fine, not something by default, if anything private lobbies in all gametypes need more options and customization in general, mutators and enemy types etc

I think shufflebutt knew you were talking to me, in which case they are correct, my position is more of a “making the best of a bad situation” type deal than anything spite motivated.

Basically, TC already made the multiplayer aspect of these games goofy and senseless, so since they already removed any even remotely serious atmosphere from PvE, the least they could do is let us use our favorite skin, regardless of what it is, in PvE.

But lets be honest with ourselves… do we want the gears games going forward to be goofy and senseless or do we want it to return to its more serious roots? I know what I would pick and do we want it to go a certain way any further?

Because if we want it a certain way we need to voice this accordingly, not encourage the opposite of what we might want futher.

I agree with your sentiment, but I’m also a realist, and at this point, TC has made it clear they have no intention of stopping their tomfoolery.
And they have no intention of stopping, because it makes them too much money. I don’t know why, or how, or even who the peeps are who keep buying all this weird stuff, but regardless, TC will never stop, no matter what we say or do.

Thankfully it’s just a video game, but even so, it makes me sad.

Well we agree then and I can only say I’m sorry if things got out of hand and I can only wish things will get better for gears… :pensive:

And I’d like to say I’m sorry as well, I think I read more into your words than you intended, and insulting you was uncalled for. I think we’ve all had a pretty rough year as of late and it’s causing us to lose our respective tempers a little more easily than usual.

I’d like to wrap this up by saying this, back in the days when I played Gears of War 3, I’d have never supported the idea of using Locust skins in horde, unless it was some sort of special variant where everyone was a locust and you were fighting lambent. Because back then, even though the overarching plot for these games has always been kinda silly, the game still took itself seriously, it had a certain amount of dignity, which it has since lost.

Plus we had beast mode back then, which was quite possibly my favorite game mode, though I never did manage to unlock the savage Theron skin.

My position is this, when the game cared about things making sense, I cared too, but now that it has stopped, I just don’t see the point.

Thank you for discussing this with me, you’ve actually helped me to gain a better understanding of my own feelings towards this franchise, and I appreciate that.

Peace. :v:

I mean if you say so. Maybe TC should hire you and put you in charge of this then if it is just small and simple.

Maybe so

I would honestly love to be able to use Swarm/Locust in PvE, whether it’s Beast, Swarm Vs. AI or just allowing the skins to be usable in Horde or Escape. I very rarely get a chance to play swarm/Locust in versus because RNG gives me COG most of the time. I really only have the choice in the matter when it comes to FFA and Private Matches. Horde and Escape ain’t cannon. And with new game plus demonstrating a Play as Swarm modifier. It really wouldn’t hurt. We don’t need new voice lines for like spotting or between waves dialogue. Anyone who is paying attention would be able to tell the difference between enemy swarm and allied Swarm. I know this isn’t a priority for TC. But to all of those people who are bashing people for being creative, you are just plain A$$holes. We aren’t ordering or asking TC to do this. It’s basically an idea to put in an “Idea Box”

Just my 2 cents, but id like to be able to use specific locust at least. My main is the gunner with a mulcher. Trishots ok, but overheats too fast for my taste, but the mulcher doesnt fit aesthetically with the deebee heavy. Im probably one of few, but i like using specific characters with specific styles of play, and being able to use a scion with the mulcher would be pretty sweet imo
