Play an engineer if you want to build

It’s frustrating that anyone can buy and upgrade things. It becomes worse everytime the game gos on sale and new players pick it up. Because everyone can build and upgrade they think that they should. I don’t have a solid group I play with so I’m with random alot. On multiple occasions I will have my base set up and we will be doing fine. Next thing I know we have enemies pouring in so I go to check, we now have level 3 or 4 fences, when they should be level 2s. I loved horde back when the game came out because only engineers could upgrade the fortifications. They changed that a few operations back and now I dread trying to play my favorite classes because I know someone is gonna screw with me. I have tried my best to just deal with it but with this Jingle Juvie event it has become harder to ignore other classes engineering. I’m trying my best to set up a base and I look over and a combat medic has 4 sentries. If you want to build play the engineer. It really is that simple and I wish The Coalition would fix the issue. I know there are others that will disagree with me, but from an engineer main(first heroic venom was the enforcer) horde was better when only engineers could build and upgrade everything.

Idiots will always find a way to ruin things. The fab and engineering being available for everyone was a good change.

^how did that happen? So far I only managed to keep 4 sentries running with Del. Even Baird struggles to get 4 and keep them alive.

Also, an USB-Keyboard to communicate with others goes a long way.

Play on higher difficulties with higher cards (I guess clock runs or surge are popular on escape) then kick players that aren’t a minimum of level 18 or something, it helps out a little bit, and don’t be a dictator, communicate with your teammates what you don’t like them doing politely and try to work something out.

You just gotta host your own private lobby it’s the best way to ensure you get skilled players that know what they are doing and will play their class. I only play in private horde lobbies now so I can control what goes on in my game. I got tired of people wasting money on weapons and sentries(well sentries in general) in the first few waves or low leveled class players joining high level lobbies that they stand no chance in. Just make your own or even join another person’s private find people in the lobby you think play to your style and start playing with them more often if it’s your lobby kick the players being ■■■■.

So many complain about everyone being able to build because you get that 1 in 10 player who abuses the privilege.
Well guess what?
For every 1 great engineer, there are 10 who suck.

Ok usually don’t play as engineer even hosting my lobby because that issue, randoms buying even if they see I’m engineer. If I’m that class and I see someone upgrading my previous locker, I kick him instantly with no regrets.
Terrible idea opening fortifications for everyone, that’s why I’m using other classes on public matches and no depend of engineers like Demolitions upgrading ammo regeneration perk and switching between explosives and ballistic damage or melee classes that almost never shoots their weapons.
With my remaining friends who still play this game this issue doesn’t exist because the tiny reason they know how to play their respective role, so they don’t do stupid things, the synergy is awesome combining classes, something I rarely see on public lobbies without a dictatorial try hard owner host or squad members.

I don’t play engineer so I usually stick half my power in the fabricator and of course use some on myself. In later rounds if we have an actual engineer I might buy a repair tool and help fill sentries at the end or start of rounds. Since I’m not an engineer what’s wrong with stronger fences? Isn’t that better?

back when you had to pick certain character to be an engineer I get frustrated when someone would pick an engineer and not actually build anything and/or put the fabricator is stupid place. Like “hey let’s put it where we are exposed on all 4 sides that’s smart.”

The ability to build as any class is a good thing, the annoying thing is when you place something and someone else starts adjusting it as if ‘you’ the ‘engineer’ didn’t think about the placement  would serve anyone right for playing in public lobbies though, you won’t get this issue in private lobbies… :eyes: So stick to private lobbies if you want well behaved players, furthermore if you yourself are hosting.

Custom is the only way if you wanna be serious about it all, unless you get lucky with randoms

The level 1 and 2 barriers (spikes and barbed wire) - the enemies will just try to walk through and get slowed down.

The level 3 and 4 barriers (electric and laser fence) the enemies will get stopped, then they will attack the barrier itself. - The attacks will most often destroy these barriers meaning that the enemies will pour into the base and will be a more expensive repair.

I wouldn’t say it’s a terrible idea to unlock fortifications for all. It has its pros and cons. I think overall it’s a good thing because it doesn’t force you to ALWAYS need an engineer on higher difficulties. The downside obviously is that so many people out their are morons and don’t know to handle that kind of freedom.

I think you’d have the best luck in custom lobbies. There’s in general more etiquette there. I’d also encourage people to be mindful if others are trying to use the text chat feature. Someone could be asking for a weapon locker to be upgraded and not get any response so they think the engineer doesn’t know what they’re doing and is clueless.

This is a frustrating thing with randoms, I definitely agree with the feeling

But everyone able to buy their own thing is a good change. There have been times where engineers would never buy a locker. Etc

However it sucks when people are extremely impatient and go rogue, building everything else wherever they want.

Usually I just start doing my own thing once I see selfish play on jingle juvies.

Most times people don’t care what you say in the chat anyways. (I always try to communicate anyways in case the people have brains)

Like all games there’s always the brainless, zero IQ people that think they know better. (Or the people who only like playing one way)

I play as a blademaster who does not spend and once I see few level 3 sentries I upgrade them and they are mine muwahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I don’t think it works that way anymore

Think it stopped working like that in OP 4.
It only shifts ownership if the person leaves… I think

I’m pretty sure you’re right because I’ve tried to pay attention to that situation many times and that’s the conclusion I had.

I have been saying this since Op 4 came out. Funny thing about it is, you find out who the real voices are in here, the people that get the game changed to their needs, and not for the games needs.

Worse still, the people that have had the game changed did not need to, because all they are asking for is Gears of War 4 Horde style Fabricator in Gears 5 Horde. Simple solution would have been to play Gears of War 4 Horde. But, you find out who are the true Heroes in here, once they start complaining about your complaining.

Further to that, the sarcastic comments are amazing, and it all comes back to above.

I always thought that some sort of system should have been put in place where if there is an Engineer on the field, the Fabricator is locked to all but the Engineer. Again the Heroes find some excuse why this is bad, and mostly to their own selfish needs.
It is like why play an Engineer, when all we have to do is cry hard enough, The Coalition will open up the Fabricator so all can build. Problem solved. Only it is not, because now you have an Engineer that is only usable when you are in a fixed team, which some of us do not have, or can not create.

In the mean time, the biggest issue can be solved simply by playing Gears of War 4 Horde, which i might add has a better Skill Card system.

I loved Gears 5 Horde when it first came out, right up until Op 4 came out, ruined my game completely. my favourite character ruined by cry babies, whingers and idiots not understanding that Gears of War 4 Horde has everything they need.

The intelligence of some people, it is mind boggling, and that is putting it mildly.

I stopped playing with people and randoms especially, i now play on with Bots, they seem more intelligent, even on a bad day.

Good luck to you, i do think you will need it. And, if you are like me, you can not get in to playing another character, then you will definately need the luck.

Which one?

Engineer. Like the Post suggests.

And, this is my personal opinion, for my personal playstyle, with the Engineer.

Wall of text on engineering and whiners?
