I said from the very beginning that Gears never PLAYED like a horror game. I’ve made it extremely clear I’m talking about game play. Cutscenes and color palettes are irrelevant to my point.
I’ve only played with friends or by searching the lobby browser, so this is news to me.
Why though… why not give people the opportunity to vote? I am certain less people would quite right away.
No idea. Apparently their excuse in Gears 4 was something about it taking too much work to get map voting into Horde lobbies(don’t quote me on that, I’m not certain if this was said any longer). Even though it existed in Ranked lobbies already. Not sure why it’s not in 5.
I’m tired of getting original maps that you have designed the way you wanted only to get altered because people complain and want different things. I think icebound should have never been touched. That’s how you designed the map so if they don’t like it then let them complain and not vote for it. And if you do make changes then leave the original map design alone in customs and don’t change to new deign.

The removed covered on top of the bases and also closed the windows in the center map looking over the ice. Dumb little things that the people can’t handle so they have to have change lol
“The consumer is always right,” except for when they’re wrong. And what if the changes to the map were changes TC were planning to make anyways? Lots of games nowadays make changes to their maps, trying to make them better.
And I was talking about aethetics/Vibe of the Game… That is what impressed me when i first saw Gears of War
Did you play Icebound before and after?
Before it was just people camping up at two opposing towers all game (boltoks made this problem worse) but now you can counter it due to the opening in the side.
The reality is that maps should be well designed from the start, no need for changes.
I have to say though for KOTH it’s pretty bad, i’ve never been lancered so much in my life.
I have only seen the map once in a TDM it seemed too flat to me. Same thing with Allfathers. Again I have only gotten to play it one time and didn’t get to run the map in full but, I have a feeling these maps were set up more for the new game mode ( though oddly they never rotated in for Gridiron).
In the older games I seem to remember maps using more vertical space. More hills and stairs. I definitely
remember moree tight spaces to fight in and not as open settings.
I 100% agree that the map needs to be darker. Having these clear sight-lines across the map just makes for a Markza/Lancer game… Which considering both of those weapons receiving buffs maybe that’s what they were going for. Regardless, it makes for boring crossing matches that aren’t remotely entertaining. Honestly, after this update it looked like a lot of darker maps appeared brighter. The first time we loaded Exhibit everyone instantly noticed that. Pahanu legitimately appears as if it should have been darker. Between the foliage and the multiple fires that was clearly intended at one point.
I believe that the issue hear is simply that there is too much cover that only protects from one direction. This also adds to the crossing game. I believe that adding a couple of corners on cover would prevent this. In addition to making it darker we may actually have a decent map… until those changes are made though prepared for the stacks crossing the living hell out of you.
Gears 1 ranked matches did not have friendly fire. That and weapon switching is set to “no.”
I might be wrong but wasn’t friendly fire on warzone.

This isnt call of dookie and thts exactly what tht map trys to intend us to play like.
Aesthetically. Its pretty gorgous but aside from tht. It sucks. The lay out in general. Its wide open with little sections tht have rocks/ledges.
Honesty. It looks pretty lazy. It really does. And 7 months later and tht1 new map we get. Almost 0 effort. Aside from visuals. But again. The lay out is pure dookie
Beautiful looking map, small complain on the center area because the swarm sometimes can he hard to see because of the redish light. But overall… disastrous gameplay, one match was enought to realize why it sucks.
Lancer camper fest, small covers, no power weapons … (current markza is useless and doesnt work good here, and flash granades… really?) Even the mulcher is useless because the map is huge and it loses power with distance. KOTH was a painful, boring and slow experience.
Guess it would work for gridiron or FFA matches, or events with torque bow/sniper only, but outside of those game types, its awful. Gave it a try and I dont want to play on this map ever again lol.
In front of the ruins/platform area there’s some bushes. You can take cover along the outer wall amd hide in them. Just don’t try that ■■■■ in Horde.
That is flora though, not fauna. Unless they mean “position-obscuring fauna” is the various animal bones and skulls lying around, I’m not seeing it.
Terrible map for koth disgusting lancer fest with disgusting cover that leaves you open to lancer fire cos it is diagonal wtf whos dumb idea was this

Some guy got was trash talking me cos he was killing me with the lancer the game is horrible and the speech box needs to go cos it pisses you off more im already raging cos of being lancered down like 50+ times and seeing trash talk doesnt help
