Only played it one time on TDM and it was the worst experience Iāve had on this game. Trying to get close to the enemy was futile, as Iād just get killed by someone chilling in the grass or cross lancered leading to an instant death. The markza didnāt help at all since it was nerfed AGAIN. So, to avoid wasting respawns we had to play conservative AF, resulting in a match so boring I was ready to say ā ā ā ā it, and just turn my Xbox off mid game.
Four months weāve been waiting for new maps, and all we get is ā ā ā ā ā ā ā Canals and ā ā ā ā ā ā ā Bunker 2.0.
Canals isnāt really fun anymore, itās a good map, just over played through Gears 4.
Iāve only played Pahanu on KOTH - pretty intense matches!
Lol for real I hate that map so much I rather play bunker lol shoot me lol plus everything about op3 sux and hate the new movement and tuning and hate how they took Guardian mode of rank why are they dum Lol take escalation off nobody cares for it and there new mode gridiron is a fail
Still havenāt managed to get a match on the new map, but i am not looking forward to it.
It looks way, way, too open and seems to bring back the worst issue from g4 maps. Every bit of cover seems to be far too far away to be useful or encourage any bouncing.
With every one saying its a lancer fest AND tc promoting it having great lancering points it ceetainly sound like it will be painful to play.
TC really, really, really, need to sit down with community and get some advice on WHY older maps worked and what things they are missing, Especially to go over why we donāt want lots of strong places to lancer from.
Unless your idea of a fun game is to lancer for 30 minutes straight. Bad map design makes it almost impossible to approach certain rings due to cross fire and inadequate cover.
Maybe in other modes itās bearable but I already predict this map to get vetoed along with Bunker & Vasgar for KOTH play.
But at least we have the other ānewā map Cana⦠Oh wait 
Lol, I agree that bunker and vasgar are pretty wack.
This Pahanu was pretty cool though. Yes, it was pretty lancery, but there are a lot of objects to hide behind (including the grass)
Peeps just gotta learn to lancer and help teammates out.
I really think one thing that would help this game is to enable friendly fire.
That way, everyone just canāt āspray and prayā at the hill, or throw grenades/dropshot and instant clear out.
In Rankedāto a lesser extent, maybe have FF be 50%, or maybe 75%ā¦but impossible to kill? Like have it down Teammates, because you know thereās always that one teammate that frags the Ring while youāre the only one in it Lancering at the enemy across the map.

I just always look back to Gears 1. A classic, and besides āhostā back then, it really had no issues!
It had friendly fire on, which made you be extra careful of your gnasher shots, lancer shots, throwing grenades etc.
Your input is really interesting though, that 50% or 75% damage could be something to try out!
Thereās no place for friendly fire in a Gears game. Iāll end up downing my whole team constantly in all the chaos
I believe itās the way Siege does it, where a gun that deals 20 DMG to an enemy deals 10-15 to friendlies, unless itās a headshot. But in Siege you get āReverse Friendly Fire,ā if you kill a teammate which means any DMG done to Teammates is reflected to you so be careful.
I think if it was Down-only, itād at least make you watch your corners and pay attention to your own team every once and a while. Other than explosives I donāt see it being an issue unless when youāre in Gnasher fights you shoot at everything and in that case youāre probably not winning your Gnasher fights.

Gears started with friendly fire, and Iām only assuming they took it out to make less skilled players happy.
Halo has friendly fire on, and itās a crucial part of the game! (Gears 1 had FF, and is the best gears to date!)

Haha werd - but just in terms of skill gap, and aiming the shotty, and how blindfire was so crucial.
I really think FF (especially with explosives) should be on - how is it fair that they can throw a grenade, and only kill the enemies?
We already have it in Escape.
Just makes you more careful. Not sure exactly but it seems to be a percentage of the damage.
I guess FF is up for debate lol Im not a fan of it. I play KOTH and itās far too chaotic to have to worry about FF especially when giving cover fire to team mates.
But letās bring it back to the OP - Pahanus is just a BAD KOTH map isnāt it?? After the newness has worn off, like another post says, itās pretty much Bunker 2.0. But in the Jungle.
Its like Vasgar in green.
Bad spawns, its like the exhibit spawns before they got fixed.
Too it easy to get surrounded by lancers.
The highgrass is negated by marks
Vasgar blows Pahanu out the water (pun not intended)
I think Bunker is the only other map that can compare in terms of poor design decisions, the difference being that Bunker looks like garbage (forever ruining it from being good imo) whereas Pahanu is a work of art comparatively. One map has potential, one doesnāt.
For those of you that think Pahanu is simply too big, Allfathers is also a huge map but the difference is that only like 3/4 of the map is actually used in MP. Pahanu would work ok assuming you give enough incentive to players to move (power weapons and smart hills for example) and have countermeasures for people just hiding/camping the whole match.
Pahanu should be deleted from the game. I would trade it for night time training grounds
Vasgar and Pahanu has the same kind of base. Mid point and circular rotation. I have not played Pahanu enough 3 times. To say, I do sense the same kind of design thoughs on them. however
Pahanu should benefit from more surounding covers like in Mercy, the smaller pavillion style of cover. Because now players can spot across the map and cross with lancers. Due to most covers only covering one side.
