Operation 7 - Known Issues

Please review the below list of known issues following the release of Operation 7 on 18th May 2021 and follow the recommended action.

If you have experienced an issue not listed above or already mentioned in a reply below.
Please reply with a brief summary of the issue (please keep it civil, review the Guidelines) and you should log a support ticket with screenshot(s) or a video (may have to be a YouTube video link) so the Devs can reproduce it and locate the cause, to (hopefully) be able to issue a fix in a future update.

List of Issues

Store

  • Purchases going through, but content not appearing unlocked in-game, error message.
  • Unable to purchase an item, trying multiple times results in being charged multiple times.
    [If a purchase fails, do not try purchasing again without restarting the game to see if the item has appeared and first checking if currency has been deducted (Iron, Gears Coins, or Money).]

  • When clicking on a store item (PC), the new page doesn’t require a new button press in order to buy something

Cosmetic

  • Missing Character skin cards.
    [This is usually a short term server load issue, restarting the game or Xbox once servers have settled will see them return normally. ]
  • Sam and Hannah Cole have large hands in versus.
  • Captain Hoffman using Marcus’ lines for grunts, executions with chainsaw/retro charge.
  • Prescott has no grunts or chainsaw/retro charge execution sounds.
  • Marcus leg armor when crouching
  • Hana says “DeeBee DR-1” as if Spotting when killing a DR-1.

  • Character Heads do not look around cover, are stuck in position (Jinn-Bot, UIR Cosmonaut, Theron variants, flame Grenadier)
  • CS Swarm Hunter clipping on right thigh.
  • Anya’s First Minister and Civilian skins still have oversized hands when playing them in versus, in Horde and Escape they are normal.
  • Regenerating Ukkon spoken dialogue does not have the metal filter the grunts do.

General

  • Server Allocation failed
    [This is usually a short term server load issue, restarting the game or try again later]
  • Omen indicating more damage taken.
  • In-game chat not working for some players, even with it enabled in options for both players.

  • On PC, during the post-match report, the buttons at the bottom(back, vote, skip) can no longer be clicked with the mouse
  • Countdown timer in lobbies before a match starts do not always appear as soon as you press to start (X by default on Xbox), it may not appear for several seconds close to the countdown being complete or un-cancelable.
  • Accessing the “Menu/Start” Menu and sections of Store, Customize, Stats, News, Help or Options while in a Squad/lobby upon closing you will not be able to see the lobby, only the Main Menu, and be unable to change your class, character, cards, etc. [This requires the host to boot you from the lobby and rejoin]
  • Accepting an invite from another player takes an excessively long time to process, with “Processing Invite” visible for ages, in the background you may see the game put you into the squad but you still cannot see the game lobby, change your class and cards (if PvE), character skin or weapon skins. This occurs on Xbox One X and Series X, so is not an OG Xbox One issue, loading from game to lobby is as fast on a Series X as you’d expect.

Versus

  • Suddenly lost a huge amount of Gears Coins / Received more Gears Coins than expected for Ranked Rewards
    [This is a visual bug indicating far greater Gears Coins awarded than should have been, restarting the game/playing a match/spending Gears Coins will correct the display to the actual amount of Gears Coins you have]
  • Missing Season 6 Ranked rewards
    [If you have received partial rewards, keep restarting your game until you no longer receive any more. If you have not received any yet, this is being worked on currently]
  • Leaderboards showing incorrect stats
    [Select Weekly for most accurate stats, it’s being worked on]
  • New Map Ephyra not appearing in map selection
  • OSOK: Explosive Heads event not counting towards Versus Events Chamption and Victories Tour Medals.
  • Imulsion on Nexus map in the OSOK: Exploding Heads event is white instead usual yellow.
    [This due to having the new Movie Poster filter enabled for the event :slight_smile: ]
  • No bots in Quickplay Elimination and Objective
    [We’re in the process of fixing the bots for Quickplay Elimination and Objective]
  • Incorrect skins on teams (Cog skins appearing on Swarm and visa versa)
  • Searching for Control Competitive match still lists King of the Hill.
  • Ribbons Special Delivery (Killed an enemy with a bag-n-tag.) doesn’t award, Leave It All On The Field (Entered the final possible round with a tie score in an Escalation match) appears in-game but not post-game results or updates in ribbons tab of stats web page, Make it Rain (Killed 5 enemies with the Lancer GL Grenade in a Versus match) no longer counting.

  • “Win a 2v2 Gnashers Versus Match”/“Complete a Free-For-All Versus Match” Daily Objectives are not counting in Custom Versus like other Versus Daily Objectives.
  • Damage in Versus challenge, 3 star: Decreased from 70,000 to 30,000 not taken affect.
  • If a user quits in competitve mode no score will be registered on the leaderboard for any participant.

PvE

  • All 5 card slots are missing and can’t assign cards
    [This is usually a short term server load issue, restarting the game or try again later]
  • Not receiving post-match results
    [Likely server load at the time, rewards will have been added but not visible, restarting game may help]
  • Cards are all locked/greyed out and can’t be equipped.
  • Some cards have reverted to Level 1 with minimal duplicates.
    [The AutoScrap process at start of Operation 7 is not yet complete, keep restarting your game until cards return at previous levels.]
  • Cards are un-assigned on all classes.
    [Manually re-equip your skill cards for each class]
  • Some cards have reverted to Level 1 with minimal duplicates.
  • Aim assist against Deebees corrects shots towards body instead of head where player was aiming on intermediate, experienced and advanced difficulties with aim assist on.
  • Slugger grenade resupply doesn’t replenish without keeping at least one grenade in inventory. [Not clear if a bug yet]
  • Bastion applying a shield to an enemy in the chainsaw death animation become immune and survive.
  • Sluggar’s bullet penetration not working.
  • Marksman passive not working
  • Mutators section blank in Horde/Escape Lobby
    [This will usually appear after a minute for most, but some aren’t seeing it at all]
  • Two or more Mechanics activating their Ultimates will cancel each other out, same as with Marksman previously.
  • Damage resistance cards appear not to be working
    [This is likely a symptom of the general Omen issue]

  • Mechanic’s Turret Ultimate causes a brief freeze of game for all players when summoned.
  • Mechanic’s Turret Ultimate doesn’t bleed unless player is off the turret after firing.
  • Palace Guard’s immune to Flash grenade and Pilot’s Hammer card
  • STATS section in-game showing 0H 00M Time played and 0/# for Hives/Maps completed, 0/90 collectibles incomplete campaign stats.
  • Healing skill cards or passives do not take effect if player’s own heal regeneration begins.
  • Going DBNO while on the Mechanic’s turret, once revived, the turret no longer fires. Or reviving a teammate and getting back on the turret also prevents it firing. This also occurs with Turrets on The Abyss.
  • Long flinch when near a Snatcher or Carrier as it explodes, unable to move, detrimental to melee class characters.
  • Slugger’s grenade resupply perk not applying to Shock grenades.
  • When the roster in a lobby changes in the last few seconds of the countdown, controls are locked (PC), preventing changing your class, skin, cards, etc should you wish to after the new player has joined with their class and setup.
  • Infiltrator’s bleed damage little or no effect when doing half to full damage with a shot.
  • Duplicates for a Level 6 card are not Auto-Scrapped, or don’t receive the Gears Coins for it if it is.
    [Make a note of duplicates on Level 6 cards and your current Gears Coins amount, then fully restart the game, so you see the Coalition logo as the game is loading up. Once logged in again back at the main menu, you will now have the duplicates scrapped and the Gears Coins awarded.]

  • Sires are able to grab players out of silverbacks, from both back and front of the silverback.
  • Tactician Speed Loader card no longer gives active rounds
  • Marksmen ultimate after being extended with critical hits several times can stop displaying X-Ray targets even though ultimate ability has not yet expired.
  • Striker’s bleed damage decreased dramatically and not 130% as indicated on card.

Horde

  • Lambent are not feared by nearby executions, unless it is a Lambent executed, or by the Fear Ultimate.
  • Lambent not visible in Fahz’s X-Ray Ultimate.
  • Atrium map in Frenzy event kicking players out to Main menu, [Due to not having the Campaign installed for the Relic weapons]
  • Backfill Bots can sometimes die and never return.
  • Snatchers are immune to Slugger and Strike Ultimates.
  • Custom Lobby Filter not listing Classic Horde (12 or 50) matches, but are present when unfiltered.
  • Unable to smelt pistols, such as Boltoks dropped by Bolters.

  • Audio issues with enemies, unable to hear, e.g. Juvie, Poppers, Sires, Matriarch, Wakaatu.
    On River, player COG tags may spawn on the roof of houses, if they died in the upstairs area, these are then unable to be retrieved during the wave.
  • Firing one shot and holding the second at the end of a wave will result in being unable to fire the second shot or switch weapons until the interval between waves begins, causing the second shot to fire regardless.
  • Mercy staircases cause clipping of characters and can get players stuck in position.

Escape

  • The Trap Hive door between the last Supply Room in the first half and the Safe Room is no longer closed by default and closes when a player passes through it.
  • Using mouse and keyboard (PC?), at the start of a hive out of a pod, mouse pointer still on screen for a few seconds preventing directing movement with WASD keys.

  • Dieing while shutting the gates, then reaching them again in further attempts will cause the sound to trigger even before the gates are closing and they’re very loud. It gets louder with every attempt, effectively overlapping with eachother.
  • Dieing after the gates are shut (or dieing in the progress and waiting for the gates to be shut on the dead screen before reloading the Act) will cause everybody to start in the saferoom with 0 progress towards the Ultimate. (Afaik you also lose any heavy weapon you joined with into the saferoom from the previous act, they just vanish)
  • Getting grabbed by a Pouncer on the LZ while the gates are shut will result in dieing instantly (no defending possible). You can even time it perfectly and push the Pouncer away just after the gates are shut, it will still result in a fail eventhough you’re standing there. (Probably only applies to single player alive on LZ)
  • Attempting the same hive for several hours seems to cause some memory issues. Eventually the enemies do not load properly, you can not see them but they shoot you. You can also not see your own shots but they do fire. It will in addition to that cause massive frame-drops AND server lag (yes the icon at the bottom left appears briefly every once in a while and your actions like bouncing to walls cancel or revert to your previous location). It starts happening briefly after 1h and gets worse and worse the longer you play. After 4h it’s that bad that enemies literally deload but still shoot you (you just can’t see it). I assume consoles just can’t handle it that long and close the game but on PC you can stretch it much further.

Leaderboards showing incorrect stats

Note: While you can view the weekly leaderboard to see the correct stats.

This affects the Global and Seasonal leaderboards, we are hoping to release a fix in the next two weeks which will restore the correct data to these leaderboards.

New Map Ephyra not appearing in map selection

Note: This has now been hotfixed, and you should see it in competitive playlists.

OSOK: Explosive Heads event not counting towards Versus Events Chamption and Victories Tour Medals.

No bots in Quickplay Elimination and Objective

If i could add another few character bugs to the list, Jinn-bot, UIR cosmonaut, and All Theron Variants heads simply just do not work at all, don’t look around cover and are stuck looking at You the player when on cover, been like that since the first Theron in OP 3(also Flame Grenadier for got about that one)

I don’t see it listed, so I will add :

Mechanic’s Turret ultimate causes a temporary freeze of the entire game when summoned. Can be very much a nuisance in the wrong situation or for a CQC class out in the field.

And the CS Swarm Hunter has clipping on the right thigh. But that’s another thing you usually wouldn’t notice during gameplay unless you specifically stop and look out for it.

Palace Guards keep moving after getting hit by a flashbang.

One problem I had: had kait’s blood resonance at 2/3 cards. Got a card in a match. Tried to upgrade, animation played but nothing happened, stayed at 3/3. Tried upgrading again, nothing happened. Fearful of losing coins I stopped, leaving it at 3/3. After restarting game it was at 2/3 again, as if the match where I earned the card never happened.

Not sure if the team is aware of this issue but the “Stats” page is showing me 0.00% on most “Modes” Escape/Horde/Versus . It’s also saying I didn’t complete any “Escape master” Map’s when Ive done them on Master several time’s. Is the team aware of this stats page bug in-game. It also says 99.99% DLC with time played 0:00. Stat’s page in-game seem’s to be messed up. Just bringing this to your attention. 0 time played in most mode’s and I have logged 47+ Day’s on Gears 5.

As in the Feedback thread.

On PC, when using Mouse and Keyboard at the start of the hive when you come out of the pod.
The Mouse pointer will stay for a few seconds, you can run straight forward or dodge straight forward but not use the wasd keys to move.
After a few seconds the pointer will go away and you can move normally.
With a controller it works.

Not a big deal but in hives like venom run it costs you a few valuable seconds.

Are you aware of the Infiltrator bleed bug with the Laceration card? If not I have a gallery of clips where I get odd bleed values on enemies (the most common being the 3000 damage with the initial shot and 275 bleed damage).

About The Horde Tile Event, it sometimes locks player’s Everything, which cannot move ( Cannot change the Character & Class & Cards) after some players Join.

This one isn’t really caused by OP7 because it’s been in the game since launch but I’m so desperate in trying to get it heard so it can finally get fixed as my support ticket on it apparently got ignored or never reached anyone.

Some sources of external healing from skill cards or passives do not work at all when a player is already regenerating their health normally. This is especially noticeable by a Jack in Horde trying to heal beam someone with Regen Penalty enabled.

If you heal beam someone before their own health regen kicks in, it’s fine, as seen in here: https://streamable.com/4onbun
Meanwhile if you heal beam someone while they’re already regenerating health on their own, this happens instead (pay attention to their health bar): https://streamable.com/o92qgn

I demonstrated the issue on AI Soldiers but it’s 100% reproducible every time on players in a normal match as well. I also think most skill cards that give health after certain actions or even passives can be affected by this.

God I hope they fix Marcus’s leg armor and the Theron’s they already fixed vold RAAM and anyone who’s has the same armor as Marcus doesn’t bend by the shins.

Can you get a clearer image please, and I presume you’ve submitted a ticket for this and included a clear image?

To elaborate more clearly, the consequences are below:

  1. The count down time for the Horde Tile Event is 60 seconds.

  2. During the count down, we may have other players matchmaking and joining here. Therefore, the count down time will increase 30 seconds once you have players joining in.

  3. However, mostly, the System will Lock you everything including Class Change & Characters Change in the Last 5 seconds because it’s going to presume Nobody join and Prepare to start the Game, but I had some players joining in the last 2~3 seconds.

  4. The system is a bit slow that the count down still increase 30 seconds, but the system is having the pre-loading Map Screen, and I can’t change Everything & see Anything (only the Background of Op7, I can’t see what Classes the new players play after they join) . so I just only able to watch the count down time remaining 30 seconds, and go to Load the Map.

These are the pictures I have right now but if they aren’t clear I can take some later and yes I’ve submitted a ticket but it was a while ago.

Yes I’ve noticed this but another issue with the Turret is it also seems to not bleed unless the player is off the turret after firing.

It shows the 675 base damage with bleed damage indicator (like the red raindrop symbol) but not ACTUALLY bleeding the enemy until the user gets off the turret. Not to mention whether the turret actually bleeds the proper 30% per tick - which is hard to tell bc there’s no damage numbers from the bleeding itself. Look into this?
