I wonder if it will be available in Co-op v AI at the very least?
I can see the reason for shrinking TDM to a 2 team stack of full team of 4 players because it’s life dependent & they don’t want people on team to be wasting lives for the whole team and you can’t respawn all the time like KOTH, but to move KOTH to 4v4, doesn’t make sense one bit ; the focus of KOTH is capturing and securing the hill and with the many map sizes 5v5 is perfect fit
Agreed. Out of the new game modes they’ve introduced I at least thought Gridiron was a step in the right direction. If Execution was to not exist then this was the perfect replacement. I just don’t understand at all.
Then wouldnt it make sense to keep a party of friends or at least players you trust to not do that rather then leave it to fate under two random jacka**es?
GridIron was really enjoyed for Operation 4 only reason being is because of the ranked system overhaul update that was done in OP 4, now with OP 5 coming out , there’s better changes to the GP system as a whole but yet they now remove Gridiron from ranked, smh
yeah i agree with ya,i think they are thinking in the sense of the 2v2s, most 2v2s players are great together and they’d like that for TDM so one person won’t waste life for whole team, but i definitely agree with u , team based game with full squad is great to play since everyone can communicate
I think on paper these ideas based around the movement of the game are great. Finally starting to see the game move in a better direction. I believe people who are complaining about slower movement / slide speed need to try it first. We been playing the advanced warfare of gears for way to many years. Which has allowed for broken gameplay mechanics which has ruined what gears is at its core . A methodical game which you out think and outplay your opponent. Not just relying on movement or power moves such as the up A /wrapshot . I Would go as far as to say there needs to be a longer delay to when you can shoot your next shot with the shotgun. That’s how you layer you skill level not speeding the game up to a blaring speed that you can’t even see how you died half the time. As I close I want to say you will always be able to make someone miss with a well timed bounce. It’s been happening since gow 1 No matter what the speed is.
bro i have sooooooo much friends that played only PvE and they fell in love with Gridiron when i showed them it, they all play it on ranked, it’s great mode for single life elimination, i think keeping it in ranked is great, why remove it baffles me, i already have many peeps that i usually play with angry as hell because of this move, i truly hope they add back Gridiron in ranked, i know some people who used to play back in the day prefer Execution over Gridiron but that all changed as time went along, they admired the variations of play whether it be sneaky touchdowns, great denials at end of round or plain out eliminations & i’m sure many can agree Gridiron brings sooo much wow moments in Gears
I keep repeating myself, but I just don’t understand why people play Gears to play TDM and KOTH. You just don’t have those “wow moments” in TDM and KOTH. Those two game modes are killing Gears.
I was very sceptical about Gridiron at first. I came back on the game with OP4, I gave it a try. And I just loved it. That simple flag really brings something fresh and good to the game.
That time when I denied a touchdown and won the round with a EMBAR double kill trick shot from the middle of the map is easily my best Gears 5 moment.
Those two game modes are actually keeping the game alive, though.
I’m on PC and the game don’t seem to be in a good spot. On Steam a “dead” game like Titanfall 2 has 10 times more players than Gears 5. How’s the Xbox playerbase ? I could buy a Series S just to play good Gears.
If you’re asking if 3v3 showcases more individual skill? Yes it does. Would that be best for a team based mode? No, in my opinion.
Here is an example of my point/logic:
What’s the best way to showcase individual skill? 1v1, right? So the closer you are to 1v1, the closer you are to having individual skill be the main factor. But, Gears is a team based game, so obviously there has to be a balance of team skill and solo skill playing a factor in the match. This is why I think 4v4 has a better balance of showcasing team skill and solo skill than 5v5. I also think 4v4 allows for more CQC gameplay (core gears), especially in koth. If every lane isn’t covered by a lancer, then pushes happen more often resulting in more true 1v1 or 1v2 fights. So if anything, the action in 4v4 is more intense and personal than 5v5, which is what Gears should be imo.
The Xbox crowd is definitely more lively for Gears at the moment.
Your play time is meaningless here…calm down.
It also depends on how you are getting those lfg teams put together.
Tdm…you clutch and on your last life kill the last few people on the other team to won…
Koth…you hold off a team for a win with a few points between you and them. It creates an intense moment that can last 5 minutes because nobody is getting the edge to win.
You will always have those moments in every game type .
The idea you don’t think you don’t have those moments is absurd. I’ve lost numerous koth games just like this and it was great.
People want fast paced, multiple life games with more people to fight against.
Oh yes anybody can be excited with anything. But I’m talking about Gears of War. It’s not thoughts and ideas. I do play the game.
People want to run across the map without thinking and fast respawns. Teamplay is difficult. I get it. I always thought that Call of Duty was a great game for that.
So the reasons TC gave were for changing KOTH to 4v4 are
Faster Matchmaking
5v5 is chaotic,
4v4 would make each kill more impactful , would feel like less speed run to the ring, would slow the pace down, there would be less people on the server, bring out better gameplay. When you respawn you’d have more understanding of barriers around you and how to approach it…
What’s everyone view on their feedback regarding change to KOTH?
Oh I thought you where talking about assassins creed.
Lol without thinking.
Clearly you don’t play this game
Yeah but it also means that Power Weapons=Win far more than what they used to, so now if you lose battle for a Power Weapon your chances of victory are lowered a good deal.
There are of course benefits to it, but still a huge change to the formula that has impacts far greater then what might be apparent now.
Edit: It’ll have ripple effects that will impact everything from balance (weapons will have less ammo in them to compensate for less players) to map design (surely a 4v4/5v5 map are made completely different right?)
Yeah feels fairly popular on Xbox but still no doubt well below what it should be
