It’s not meant to replace the sniper. It’s plenty powerful at range.
Maybe you…uh…miss, lol.

I still think lancer need no recoil at all. I really not a fan of what they did with rifles in G5.
Markza was good before the nerf. Now it’s so difficult to aim/track the enemy on high sensitivity.
Hummerburst still feels pretty strange to me.
Claw is simly like a toy and looks good only with actives.
I like only Retro and Lancer GL and Enforcer looks good to me.
I dont know what they did, but shots impact is broken to me, a half of weapons are good, another half are not so good.
For example Trishot feels meaty, Mulcher feels like a toy.
Sorry, that i’m not talking about a balance aspect, but about shots impact, the weapons feeling.
You want a recoilless lancer?
…
Really?

We will just have to agree to disagree. This is also coming from someone who hates the 100% gnasher fights. I would prefer there to be more Lancers on the field than gnashers. In my opinion gnashers should only come out when you are able to sneak up on someone for a gib,
As someone whos a beast with the boltok (just ask @TC_Clown, @Krylon_Blue and other that play with me) the boltok is trash in Gears 5 compared to 4 especially at longer ranges.
I get that some people completely hate the gnasher but its not just about gnasher fights. Adding more rounds and a faster active is gonna make it almost impossible to move around maps especially on 5’s maps which seem to be more tailored for the lancer/longer ranged weapons in the first place
Oh I agree. In Gears 4 it was the other snipe.
It’s in a good place in 5. Hate to see the change.
Anyone who asserts it takes 5 shots to down someone isn’t using it correctly.
Nyet, Boltok’s a mid-range beast and especially when going for headshots. I don’t think the nerf will be too heavy.
Don’t forget claw players too lol
Only changes I feel pretty iffy about are the Snub Fire Rate buffs and Lancer active cooldown buffs. Lancer felt like it was in an okay spot and with the weapon swap speed buffs, switching to snub would be even less of a problem. So the mag size wasn’t much if an emissue but lets see how 10 more rounds do for it.
but its meant to be a longer ranged pistol the drop off is insane now
Would rather wait and see how it plays out before forming judgment on most of these changes.
But I’ve wanted faster weapon switching for a long time so pleased about that even if it’s only a little. Really hope the bug introduced with the last update where you shoot and no bullets come out straight after switching has been fixed.
Takin it back to Gears 2 lmao
Not across Gridlock though.
Boltolk spawn to boltok spawn on District is sufficient distance for a handgun, and deadly at that range it is.
To me recoil was good on paper, i like for example G3 Hummerburst recoil or current Retro recoil, but lancer looks off to me. It was meaty and enjoyable to use in older games, but now it’s like a toy without a feeling that shots are connected to somebody you shoot.
Honestly, i don’t know is recoil a problem or something else, but as i said half of guns are not meaty anymore and feels like a toys.
Pve tunings are supposed to be separate, but this isn’t always the case.
I’ve been playing through all the games, only big differences for the Lancer have been mag size, mag capacity and crosshair bloom starting in Gears 3.
And I guess sound effects for it if you wanna judge between 1 and 2.
That’s where Smoke grenades, suprising fire, and teamwork comes into play. Teamwork should always win a match

Smoke has so much utility, I love it. I kinda miss it downing and stunning enemies but it’s admittedly silly for it to do so.
Maybe you miss:
Totally. Making an accurate statement about the number of shots to down somebody at max range is a real sign I don’t know how to use the weapon.
By the way, does somebody asked TC about vertical sensitivity adjustment option?
I really want it to be, because to me vertical sensitivity is a little bit high.
Well damn it’s looking like a Gears 1-3 Boltok.
Do legs take less damage?
