Operation 3: Gridiron

I just watched the actual trailer and at about 2:21 it shows a more comprehensive list of rewards - there’s 44 rewards compared to the 34 in the screenshot image.

So given that there’s 43 ranks in the TOD, unless they change and increase it, the numbers don’t match so I presume that these images are not purely just rank related, but probably include some of the medal rewards too.

There’s not much new in these images except there’s a few weapon sets from the Niles range; a couple more executions and also a Hot Rod skin variant for JACK. There’s only one rank banner shown too.

The 3 months would be fine if the updates were on par with gears 3 dlc. But nope we wait 3 months for 2 maps and ones a remake.

As for weekly updates. Yeah we should be having hot fixes every week or so.

So long as they finally add in XP/medal progression in private bot matches, I’m happy. The wording makes it seem like they are but it’s honestly appalling they left it out of Gears 4 entirely and didn’t even think to add it to “the most accessible Gears game ever”. No reason not to have it, no defense for its exclusion, and certainly no reason to not fix it.

I told people before, this “hero” thing is just pulled put of nowhere. TC claims it is to add individuality to characters but for 99% of them it really just doesn’t make sense with what the character is like.

And really, for the most part, there is no “hero” feel either. It’s literally just bonuses to certain weapons with most characters, or melee bonuses. It’s just poorly implemented imo.

Yep. It’s just getting stupid at this point.

Why not have a selection of Ults for each sub class?

Like tanks can do those selections or offensive can do this. I mean in what world is JD stronger than his dad or Cole, Clayton? I mean really.

I have tried all I could to help this game and now they just completely ruined it for me.

Yeah. It doesn’t reflect the vast majority of characters at all and it feels like TC are just arbitrarily building skillsets etc.

But then again, from what I know the majority of GOW characters in canon are quite generic in terms of combat aren’t they? Del and Baird obviously have some mechanical expertise, along with Dizzy being a rig driver; and Paduk and Bernie are known for being snipers/recon, but aside from that there isn’t really anything else is there? Tai was known to be a stealthy hunter type so maybe a scout? But everyone else in canon seem to be fairly jack-of-all-trades.

This is probably going to get me absolutely flamed, but I am super excited for a taunt and thorns type build.

I finally get to be Jeff from Gears 3, except hopefully more useful.

Ascendance states for Kait to prefer lin range engagements with her picking an EMBAR as the next best weapon to a Longshot. Heck, she even starts with a damn Longshot in both Gears 4 and 5 in Act 1. But she just gets a close combat role slapped on with a cloaking ability. The justification? “She was out in the wilds in Campaign.”… even though they literally go as far as then hinting at JD and Del surviving in the Deadlands as part of their COG training, so it literally holds no weight. Her role isn’t even “Scout” proper when you’re not doing recon activities. The closest is going on a stabbing spree amidst the enemies when you have Cloak active.

And I would generally expect a soldier in a military to be capable of handling and adapting to a variety of situations, but it doesn’t mean combat preferences don’t exist.

I don’t think this whole approach is working very well anyway. I mean, we’re playing a shooter here, but TC isn’t even designing certain characters with offensive purposes in mind at all(Lizzie is one of the characters who gets no damage bonuses at all, currently) and their atrocious enemy balance just makes the “Tank” aspect of that role nearly fully redundant when you still get put in the ground extremely quickly no matter your damage reductions. Not even Lizzie’s Stim is 100% foolproof. And all it takes to bring the Silverback down is some of the ridiculous Drone Elites or two Mulchers, depending on difficulty and active modifiers.

There isn’t even real individuality when almost everything you see when players are not JD or Kait is Tri-Shot or more rarely Salvo spamming. Even on the mid difficulty levels. And while this is a different issue entirely that is also perhaps personal, JDs almost always seem to take it as their devoted task to try killing nearly every single enemy they can reach on the map, even when it makes the other offensive roles basically redundant. Why would I play Kait if it wasn’t to KILL enemies?

I really would wish I could say I expect TCs “balance pass” for Horde to make it that not everyone is basically just a support tool for JD/Kait/Fahz/Keegan/very maybe Marcus, but I really don’t…

Same here. I’d look forwards to both character play styles and Clayton has to be useful somehow.

The 90% Freeze Res would be useful from against Freezing Snipers or Freezing Grenadiers like on Ice Queen and The Hunters.

The deflection bleed is an interesting concept but don’t know how effective yet.

Detour doesn’t have freezing Snipers. That’s Ice Queen.

He may hold some use against the ridiculous freezing Mulchers on The Line, however.

I can see Clayton being useful in Escape especially if his ultimate recharge is quick because it could potentially deal damage to the enemy without using any guns orr ammo. He’d be a very different kind of a “tank” to Mac. In my head, I think he might even synygise well with Mac.

Yeah and I’m interested in how Clayton plays out in solo hives, since his Ult recharge super fast when alone. Lizzie sucks in this department where needs team mates.

I’m really, really hoping TC shifted their resources to building more maps at least a month ago. OP3 looks solid, and I’m very excited to unlock the new skins (Myrrah skin variants?!?!) but the lack of maps could be a killer for tons ppl, myself included. This community is on the edge, and I honestly don’t think this game can survive another 3 - 4 months for new maps.

Like, ■■■■, I’ve started voting for maps I never play like Icebound and Bunker. That’s how sick I am of all the other maps.

Tc last remake of canals was…alright.
Other than that its one of the best g1 maps, so it returning is ok in my book.
