OP4 achievements are a joke - 100k kills, 50k assists, reup 40? Time to uninstall

achievements for gears have always been hard, thats it

Other than potentially Seriously 3.0 I don’t recall any that would take multiple years to achieve without dedicating an unhealthy amount of time to playing and grinding the game like Reup 40/50 in Gears 5 currently do. Is this really what you’re defending because “achievements were always hard”? Not even Gears 4 was this bad with the sole exception of the Wings grind which still only had one achievement tied to getting a Wings Reup and that was to reach the very first one after Reup 10 which was very much feasible.

ok, good point. But I think that those achievement r meant to be hard for us to feel the glory when we have it and to be proud to show this, u know?
We wouldnt be proud if was easy.
I simply dont persue the achievements for gears anymore

I did seriously 3.0 and although it was a colossal grind, at least there was variety in the gameplay needed to get onyx medals. I also got seriously 4.0 but have already written off seriously 5.0 and other achievements in this release. Similarly I have to accept that I will miss out on numerous “totem” characters because I have absolutely no desire to play escape. I am currently reup 6 and know that I will make reup 10 at best. I’ve absolutely no compulsion to go beyond that so reup 40 etc is a unicorn in my eyes. It’s disappointing that this edition of gears has reduced my desire to play by a significant margin but grinding 100k kills in one game mode is an ill conceived attempt to maintain participation in versus. And to a degree it will thanks to the coop AI bots; cos that’s where most people will be playing. Me? I will be playing other games.

I personally find too much grind sours the feel of achiev(?)ing something. Like is the case with Reup 50, most of those who are there or even above 30 just got there through excessive grinding, scripts running an XP farm or using Death From Beyond a lot every single day while getting very little sleep and outside contact while they were at it during several weeks. Not someone like me who has mostly been playing normally to enjoy the game instead of grinding. I’m merely at Reup 22 and somewhere around Level 78.

Well it’s been reported elsewhere already and a request has been made to send a ticket through the support site, so I would encourage others to go do that if they didn’t get this achievement unlocked and want it.

TDM is a snoozefest, and one crap teammate can lose the match for their team. Hence why they removed it frm ranked. They wanna tweak and play around with it to improve the gameplay.

Coming from someone with 4000/4000 on Gears 4, some of these new achievements are absolutely ridiculous. Whilst I’m not going to uninstall the game over them, I think whoever are making these really need to understand that they are adding nothing to the game and are taking away from it. These are so outlandish I have no interest in wasting my life to get them as they’re not fun.

Good achievements - Add to the game, push you to try new modes/maps, add a challenge

Bad achievements - Monotonous grinding, require ludicrous hours of playtime

You guys know having stupid achievements actually stop people even booting the game up at all? I think you need to reconsider your approach on these.

I agree the developers are making inadequate achievements for their games! and yes this topic should be raised by the whole community! achievements of type 40 prestige and others taking a ton of time discourage the desire to play games in the series. I know at least 10 people who did not buy part 5 when they saw achievements to it. Those for whom achievements are not important should understand that there are people who play games only to achieve achievements, you can blame those who are engaged in obtaining achievements, say that this is stupid, but it is a fact! And this is the content that some players pay close attention to Attention. Question: why not make adequate achievements? those people who do not need them will not sit for hours in your game, and those who knocked out previous games in the series will not buy and play the next ones, since they do not want to spend half their life on one or two games with inappropriate content.
P.s. not only do developers make inadequate achievements and still do not follow their early projects, all requests from players to fulfill their promise in part 4 of the series and make it possible to create skins for achievements: I Like Em Crispy and Better Than Bacon were ignored . And I know at least 3 people who will not buy 4 parts because of this.
In conclusion, I will say the series has enormous potential. Everyone makes mistakes, but there is always a chance to fix them. in the same 4 parts, the opportunity to get 100% in 600 hours was reduced to 300 hours and this is a breakthrough. Now some do not buy the game because they are waiting for further achievements, many were immediately scared by the achievement of a serious 5.0 chapter 1 and everyone is waiting for what a serious 5.0 chapter 2 will be. I have a big request to the developers: stop scoffing at your players! keep your promises regarding early projects! review the policy of creating achievements, make more achievements of passing on the master, etc. than prestige and other achievements that drag out the process!
Everyone who read and supported a special thanks.

Couldn’t agree more with the majority of what’s being said in this thread. As someone who has 100% every Gears game up to Gears 5, I think this is where I call it quits. These achievements show a complete and utter lack of understanding of what achievements should be or why many players boot up the game. I realize that the majority of players couldn’t care less, but these achievements add literally NOTHING to the game and only serve as unobtainable grinds that seemingly serve no purpose other than to torture achievement hunters. Imagining someone along the line accidentally adding an extra 0 or two to these achievements seems more likely to me than multiple people agreeing to add this nonsense. In what world is 100,000 kills reasonable when 10,000 would have been a more than sufficient grind. Oh how a once might franchise has fallen…

I’m saying this as an MD. Don’t let achievements or meaningless gamerscore dictate the way you play games, because it’ll suck the enjoyment (the reason you should be playing) right out of it at some point. Achievements have become another tool, like e.g DLC, to abuse people with OCD. If you can’t unlock them, just say ‘F it’ to yourself and move on.

Somebody did the math on trueachievements. It will take 2.7 years of 150 kills per day to get the damage required. Something to that effect. I cant be bothered with the math

Yeah heard about it, also if you get 10 kills a day it takes you a nice 27 years. And then there is the “aim” if you wanna do it kinda fast 300 kills everyday wil take you 10 months. Even if private works and you can script it to max effectiveness. It is about 350 hours just for kills. And the you have to script for assists somehow as well. Adding a other 175 hours. It wants all your idle time apparently.

First of all, I paid Gears 5 and I have full rights to complete it…

I enjoy reading the arguments “just don’t care about achievements, play for fun”. The fact of the matter is that a lot of people do play for achievements and these types of achievements are ruining the game for people and driving people away. There isn’t one person who looks at the 100,000 kills in versus or reup 50 achievement (coming eventually) and says I’m going to get this game now. Or, I’m going to keep grinding for that it sounds fun. Only takes players away

Playing for achievements without having fun in a video game is highly illogical. This isn’t meant to sound cocky. It’s just really strange to me. But I guess speak up About it if you feel that way.

Regardless of how logical it sounds, it happens. Some people also enjoy getting achievements and completing things. Called completionist. I try for achievements but also move on from the ridiculous achievements that require too much grind (seriously 1.0, 3.0 and these new versus ones and the reup 40 plus achievements because I am not spending literally every second of my free time for multiple years playing something in a way I don’t enjoy the game. It is a psychological thing and if you don’t feel it then you probably won’t understand it ( not trying to belittle anyone)

That is true, but there are people like that.

And whilst I wont uninstall because of these achievements, the unnecessary grinding that people have to do to get stuff is crazy. That doesn’t stop at achievements, this goes to skill cards, re-ups and Gears coins. It adds up.

I just laugh when TC said they wanted to make game feel less of a grind and then they add these, completely contradicting themselves.

Achievements can extend the lifecycle of the game, and TC have completely got it wrong in that regard.

You didn’t belittle me, it’s cool. Like I said, speak up about it. I just don’t agree. I believe the achievements like the insanely hard ones (or in this case, time consuming) legitimatize achievement collecting in general, but I also don’t believe achievements are to be collected or hunted for in absence of fun so I don’t do it. Keep doing you.
