I have the opposite opinion. Casan is annoying to the point where I consider muting the volume.
Vermelo is… OK, the Onyx filter helps, but nowhere near as good as the original Onyx. I’d hate to hear Keegan’s voice too, former Onyx or not. He’s his own character.

I never knew a gears character to hold 2 ranks… the cog gear vermelo is also the onyx guard vermelo.
Maybe instead of TC taking the lazy way, they could’ve at the very least, reused the male onyx voice from 3 and maybe used the female onyx from judgment. Then they could’ve had 2 separate identities, instead of 4 skins being shared on ONE character.
You may not see a problem with stuff like this, but maybe you don’t play enough horde or escape to see the problem then. (I’ll,give you a hint… you can’t use the same character twice in those modes, so it would be ideal for the majority of us who like to use various faceless cogs in those game modes and not see the big red “already in use” message upon starting a match).

They should of returned with THEIR ORIGINAL GOW3 and GOWJ voices instead of the Gears 4 and 5 Cog Gear voices.

I completely agree. I even said this same exact thing a few responses ago.
Honestly, I just don’t get why they went from the gears 4 system to this one where skins are shared across characters like this. Yea the skin system in 4 was too cluttered and needed to be condensed like 5’s, but they went too far with it. I think this new skin system is great when you wanna change Marcus or baird’s skin to an alternate one, but when they applied that system to characters that don’t need alternate skins (like the onyx guard being an alternate for the cog gear)m it ruins it completely!
Putting aside the fact that they don’t allow duplicates in escape or horde, there’s no reason we should’ve been limited this much with these characters. We should’ve had separate slots for a male and female cog, and the same with the onyx guard. I wouldn’t care if I had to rank all of em up separately, I just want access to this stuff so you can actually see more than one cog or onyx guard in horde. Even seeing old leaked footage/screenshots of the character menu showed the male and female cogs had separate character slots.
But I digress… the gears 3 onyx guard sounded great and said the funniest stuff… the classic “your moms a classy lady!” line still cracks me up to this day! I know they wanted to keep the same voice for all alternate cog skins, but they had all the old voice lines they could’ve used instead of the new stuff that sounds dumb.
Idk… I’m just unhappy with a lot of these decisions TC have made. There was no reason to change great voice work like this or make onyx guards an alternate skin instead of its own character. I could’ve even handled the male/female skins sharing one character, but throwing the onyx guard as an alternate for the basic cog gear is so silly that all I got out of their decision to do that is that they don’t understand gears. So many wrong creative decisions have been made in 5 and idk how much worse it’ll get moving forward. I don’t feel confident it’ll get better.

MikelTheLastOne, i get that he still looks good and all, but the complaint is about how TC is doing a Halo 5 with the art design.
In the original gears by Epic Games, the onyx guard looked better than the normal soldiers and they were considered “Best of the best”. It was a cool thing about them.
In TC’s version of Gears, you start to see few by few the art changed and the armor doesn’t look properly made. The onyx guard was supposed to be that “I kiss my mothers a$$ with that mouth” attitude and were relentless like the hunters.
TC made them look like guards instead of elite soldiers, even as far as making them skins instead of adding them in. If Epic Games could work on gears right now, they’d know TC ■■■■■■ up their designs and say “Hey, quit changing that armor.” And “Put the Gnasher’s competition Sawed-off back in.”.
And here I thought “Hmm… GOW seems to be doing better than halo after all these years”, well I was wrong and hate myself for it.
I wish TC had Epic Games care for the franchise, besides… at this point TC will start getting memes about Aaron griffin hating them, lol.
But no seriously, The Coalition is mentioned in the Gears 3 campaign before you meet griffin.

It really says something when Gears Tactics brings back the OG Onyx Guard armor back and has a many other armors for you to use like Tai’s Gears 2 armor, Marcus’s Gears 1 & 2 armor, the old COG armor and Baird’s Judgement armor and this game was done by Splash Damage https://www.artstation.com/artwork/k4YRn2

You might wanna think about what you said for a second. Tactics brings back the old Onyx Guard armor, but it’s also a prequel set during the Locust War when the “new” Onyx Guard armor wasn’t a thing yet.
The original Onyx Guard armor will always be better than that trash new design, they even made it better in Tactics with the Legendary tier you can get

May be, but it makes perfect sense, without any sort of consideration to how player reacted to the new Onyx Guard design, that a prequel set in the Locust War uses old Onyx armor, does it not?
I personally find the new helmet slightly better looking than the old though. Mostly because it doesn’t just have this strange looking long flat bit sticking out so much. For the rest, kinda whatever to me. I think both are ok.
That’s a pretty stupid reason to like the new helmet over the old one. That “flat” thing on the back of it’s helmet is also on Clayton’s helmet as well, does that instantly make his helmet bad? hell no and the “flat” thing is based on medieval helmets that have that.
Yet in the games they were always just laughing stock and/or arrgoant ■■■■■,

They gave him out for free for at least 2 weeks. All you had to do was get 750 kills in Horde which is like 1 match.

I meant the front portion of it which I don’t like the look of on the Onyx Guards, by the nose. But whatever.
