I’m not arguing about your general ideas but I think exhibit is a lot better than bulletmarsh. I still hate bulletmarsh. I don’t hate exhibit.

Hey,
To give some context, I am primarily a Counter-Strike player. A game with no progression whatsoever and nothing to do other than get good at the game. Doing so is extreamly rewarding, as the game is crafted in such a way that in the vast majority of cases, the most skilled player wins. There are few feelings as gratifying as winning situations that 500 hours of practise ago, you could have never won.

Now the reason that this doesn’t work for gears is that the gameplay doesn’t reward anything. I’m in the EU, hence I rarely have below 120 ping in gears 5. If you have any experience with playing on a ping like this, you will know that competitive play is not possible. Your gnasher may or may not fire when you tell it to… The person you fired at may or may not be where they are shown on your monitor, etc…

This is in addition to a long list of gameplay changes that remove skill from the game, though none of these overshadow the ping issues. Anyway, hope that cleared up why I would want a progression system of some sort, as there is no incentive to play for fun in the games current state.

Because some of us still have hope for it being good one day. I give it til January, but I won’t be actively playing til then once my grind is over (which is soon).

RAAM had to be purchased in Gears 3. Yeah, he came with a side story, but this isn’t a first.

Ok,bai

Truth be told - research can back me in this - distance related ping being around 100-120 does not influence the outcome much if any at all.

This is because distance ping is stable, and 100ms can be overcome by reactionspeed.

If however you are close to the servers and have such a ping it’s due to your ISP and causes you to have an unstable and as such unreliable game.

There’s much more to it than blindly staring at ping. I personally can confirm this too. Ive played mlg halo with a team from the US. I’d only ever have low ping during lan tournaments

Whilst it is generally true that the lower, the, better, there’s many factors. And 100-150 ms shouldn’t hold back your performance in any way if it’s solely distance ping

If I may bring my personal experience from being placed on US servers(while being located in the EU)… it really didn’t do much. There was a very minor delay in shots registering at times but it would often be negligible as far as the difference went so long as the connection remained stable. Would be around 90-120 depending on which server it was. However, if ping went around the 200+ mark, it would become very noticeable there was a delay to actions, shots registering, etc,. Though this only is a ping I would achieve on Asian or Australian servers… where I either don’t go or get placed anyway. Point being, 100-120 ping is still playable. Not ideal, yes, but playable.

If this is true then why can I predict which player will finish MVP in every pre game lobby soley based on ping?

You can’t. In a match filled with people with 7-25ms there is literally no difference whatsoever. A 100ms wont change that either, unless he has the ms whilst being close to the servers. Then he’s f’d.

I don’t think you read my point. I said I can predict which player will win each match in a pre game lobby purely based off ping. If ping has no impact on the game why can I predict this?

I read your point and replied to it.

You didn’t you just said something about everyone being 7-25ms no difference to 100 being no different to that? If you think 30 ping plays the same as 120 you’ve either never played gears of war or you live in the US and sit in top of the servers and have never played at over 100 ping

Read my comment.

That’s your answer.

Yes I read it, it is absolute nonsense.

This answers your comment on

If you think 30 ping plays the same as 120 you’ve either never played gears of war or you live in the US and sit in top of the servers and have never played at over 100 ping

Don’t blame ping for playing bad.

If there is no issue, then why have TC already acknowledge that there is a ping issue for EU players that they are trying to ā€˜fix’ why fix something if it isn’t a problem?

I’ll await your YouTube video where you do 50 matches and pre-emtively predict who gets the mvp based on the ping.
