Why wait? If you’re not having fun, you’re not having fun, and that’s the primary goal. Why would you care about having double XP to level up in a game you won’t be playing going forward?

The real problem is the game isn’t even fun. But that’s been touched on by the various comments in this thread. I agree with most of them. Very repetitive. No hammerburst or any other weapons to master. Same gameplay…only worse balancing. Clunky as heck sometimes. Shots disappearing from the gnasher. Bad pings. It’s extremely meh. Especially for today’s standards for a multiplayer game. Triple A game for that matter.

I’m in the same boat. Gonna have Gears 4 reinstall tonight since I’ve only got my Tour of Duty to finish for sweet ‘cheevo points and wrapping up my RAAM totem.

Finishing ToD and wrapping up your Totem? Damn you guys sure do play a lot for a game you supposedly “hate”.
I’m playing off of Games Pass so I have no monetary investment; and like said I’m playing for an achievement I’d rather not start over in a couple months when I’m about 70% of the way through. I was gonna pass on this one 100% but the Batista and Halo promotion inspired me to download it and now that I’ve played I can also give fair critique.
Gears 4 doesn’t have this problem because it’s good. Before 5 came out i still played it a lot even though I’m wings 2 and have all the characters. I played because it was fun and sweaty af. And when I say sweaty I mean literally. My heart would pound and my pits would drip. Gears 5 doesn’t do that to me. The body doesn’t lie.

Well it’s not that we hate it. We love gears of war. We hate what TC has done to it. We want it to be better. I gave it it’s fair chance. Got ToD and re-up6. I personally like having a sense of progression too. And yea gamepass.

Yeah I know what you mean. We’re die hard Gears fans. But still, the amount of hate you see here, it’s contradicted by how much people are actually playing it.
If you all really want to send a message, stop playing the game until TC addresses your issues.
Most people are happy enough just playing through it, and from going through the forums there are lots of people who appear to be willing to play pretty much anything as long as there are new cosmetics available. I gave it a fair shake but after playing gears 4 again it’s just night and day how joyless gears 5 is.
I’m officially done making pancakes for myself and no not those American ones eithers.
Personally I play the game daily, and not out of force, but fun. I know Versus has its share of issues, but there’s still a lot of game here to be played and fun to be had. I’m enjoying the crap out of Campaign, Horde, Escape, Tour of Duty, Medal challenges, and the Totem challenges. It’s a grind, but I like it. It’s satisfying to move up in ToD, it just needs better rewards. As for the store, microtransactions, etc. It doesn’t bother me. This is nothing new. It’s everywhere in gaming today. I think the prices need some adjustment (5 bucks for a blood spray…really?!), but then you see new characters for 5 bucks + boost and it’s very reasonable. Either way, I never spend money when the game offers the alternative to unlock the majority of the content through the game, and that’s what I’m doing. It might take time, but there’s no rush since character unlocks have no expiration. IMO it’s light years better than the loot box RNG system in Gears 4. It just needs to be fine tuned and offer better content.
Now if you bought Gears 5 and your sole focus is online ranked, yeah I can see that being a being problem and I don’t blame those who are complaining, especially in the EU. It’s rough.
For me I’m enjoying the good content the game offers right now. When the improvements come, great.

It’s not just about bugs. Most games have them at first and eventually get fixed. It’s the actions of T.C. they have catered to the casual community and actively alienated the sweaty community. The game has been slowed down, added aim assist and bullet magnetism to where it’s extreme, designed the maps in a way to promote rifle play as well as making rifles much stronger. Now more time than not a match is nothing but camping because you can’t make a move because you get instantly shot down with a Lancer. In gnasher fights it doesn’t matter how good you when they just sponge your perfect shot and they get the kill because it gives to them or they 2 piece you. Being good at this game doesn’t feel good. Then there’s the microtransactions. I don’t need to go into that we all know.

It’s not to say there isn’t fun to be had. I’ve had some. But 9 time out of 10 it’s not very fun. Even when I’m doing good it’s not too satisfying because I know it’s handed to me not earned.
Totally agree with you there. This generation was the first time I bought a ps4 after a long PS hiatus since ps1. Been loyal to the xbox since the 1st one but this generation they have dropped the ball. MS only care about how much their games can squeeze money from its consumers ans they don’t even hide it anymore. I’m done with xbox for good come next generation. I bought this game because I love its pve modes but honestly escape is a really boring mode and horde feels too much like gears 4, I seem to play alot of gears 4 maps and I’ve already played those for like 2 years so I got already tired of it. I’ve been playing mostly Overwatch since their Halloween started. I regret having bought this game

I think they’re trying to find a good balance but just didn’t quite nail it. Hopefully with upcoming adjustments they can please the core fans but also bring in new ones.
Yeah, I’m only interested in playing versus, mainly ranked but also social. I’ve been playing gears 4 social
the last couple of days and it’s far, far more competitive and involved than gears 5 ranked.
I’m a player who spends 75% of their time on versus and I’m like almost re-up 8, I think it’s fun, just gotta adapt.

literally just played a match, I forced my self to finish it, unbelievably boring it’s like everything you didn’t want in a gears game in a gears game.
Thank god I didn’t delete 4, my friends re-downloading 4 as well pretty much done with gears 5
