Official Feedback thread for Developer Playlist - Nov 17th, 2020

I have to ask since you brought up something that it seems every wall bouncer / faster moment supporter complains about bot walking. I have never and I mean never struggled killing someone who choose not to hit their A button and just walked me down. That to me tells me .That People who have a problem fighting bot walkers don’t stand a snowballs chance in hell of beating me in a fight and I bounce more than half of the community.

I think ppl aren’t getting away with murder anymore and don’t like it . Make them miss time your bounce Up a them between their shots it’s really not hard.

I’ll even give you a example on how to play

If their sitting on a wall. Waiting for you to slide at the wall their at. Slide at that wall immediately cancel your slide hard aim them as the pop up to so you hit them with a brick than bounce wide and chip them out. Their 75- 90 percent And you can take a shot because you not hurt unless you chip or hit less than half your spreed you win Text book gears.

I’m happy to see 4v4, i think it fits very well the movement and playstyle of the game. However the movements feels extremely restrictive and doesn’t fit gears 5 at all. The right thing to do in my opinion is not try to emulate an older type of gameplay that was a result of limited resources. I think gears 5 would benefit from similiar mechanics from gears 4.

Yep correct. The slow movement might’ve worked before but it just doesn’t feel any good on gears 5 & it’ll probably dwindle the fan base even more if it’s introduced permanently, same as 4v4 - maps clearly aren’t even designed for it as some are huge and everyone feels lost.

Do you know what I’d do to sort out the movement? Absolutely nothing, how’s about leaving it alone. It’s not overly fast and still fairly snappy of which makes gears, gears, no pop shot delays none of that crap, fast paced fun to pass the time, bodying people and getting bodied.

All they’ve done is slow this game down from launch and mess with the weapons…and they wonder why people are leaving for good,

Oh boy. I have only played this tuning when it was unintentionally added into ranked KOTH. And I gotta tell you, it felt NOT good at all. I had no fun playing the game and after a couple games I stopped playing and thought Gears 5 would be done for good finally. A few hours later I read on twitter that the movement was added to ranked KOTH only by mistake and it was not meant to be.

I was soooo glad and went back to Gears 5, Operation 5 and it felt awesome again, like it used to be in Op 4. I am a fan of fast phased gameplay, of gameplay on new engines and quick reactions. This dev tuning feels so heavy and stiff. The rodie run speed is way too slow, bouncing is extremely slow when you start the bounce and overall aswell, bot walking is the way to go with this movement and imo your main fan base does not want that.

I also discussed with a few friends of mine, none of them like the movement. All heavy oldschool Gears players, masters and good gnasher players which know how to have good movement in Gears.

Personally I have been playing every single Gears of War game. And from my perspective…are we back in 2008?? I mean ye Gears 1 and 2 had slow movement because the engine could not handle/support a faster phased gameplay maybe. But come on, when Gears 3 was released the movement felt, how can I say it, free, fast, without barriers. Thats what I felt in Gears 4 and 5 aswell, and still feel in Gears 5(normal tuning). AND I LOVE IT!

My point is: Do not add the developer tuning into the main game, leave the movement and the weapons as they are atm. Your game feels great and I love to play it. The Operation 5 update is a succes in my opinion and the new maps(Nexus and Regency) are feeling amazing. I am not quite sure what to think of the 4v4 yet but maybe I will get used to it.

I hope I could give some good feedback to you. I have not posted on the forums for a long time. Cya online.

I absolutely love the beta tuning! Actually feels like gears with a better skill gap. Can you guys please consider making the beta tuning playlist game mode execution instead of blitz???

Really enjoying the new tuning. Movement feels meaningful again for all playstyles, not just bouncing. Visually the game makes more sense as well. The netcode still seems to be an issue sometimes, but slowing things down has helped a lot in my opinion. I think this is a step in the right direction for movement. I also really like the tuning for the weapons in this as well. Lancer feels good as a support weapon. All of the other changes to power and secondary weapons is a welcome change as well. The only thing I’m unsure of at this point is the change to 4v4. I’m neither for or against this change really. 4v4 makes kills more meaningful and you’re much less likely to just be annihilated by a squad of lancers. On the other hand the maps feel a bit empty since most of them are pretty large, being designed with 5v5 in mind. If I had to choose between the two I would choose 4v4 since the combat has become much more satisfying and rewarding.

TL;DR - I think most of the changes made are positive and am hoping they are added to the full game soon.

I personally think the changes to movement and weapon swap are good. Weapon swap might be just a bit TOO slow, but it’s always nice to not have players be able to miss a kick over cover and still have time to switch to gnasher and shoot before the defender. Roadie run is still fast enough and wall bouncing still feels good in my opinion. I don’t really agree with all the delays. Maybe the delay to UP A, but the one added to ADS is pretty bad. I understand the attempt at balance here, but the game is a year old. I know it’s a rough title in the series, but you can’t just treat it as a game that’s in beta for its entire life cycle. TC obviously can’t and shouldn’t try to please everyone, but if there is one thing that fans agree on, it’s that TC needs to stop changing the tuning/movement every other week. Find a good middle ground and keep it consistent with that. I honestly appreciate all the hard work, it’s just been a rough road for Gears 5 since straight out of the gate at launch. I digress, I’ve ranted for way too long. Mostly positive feedback from me. Movement/weapon tuning seems good, but the delays to firing and weapon swap speed could be tweaked. Cheers, Gears!

As someone who has loved the speed and fluidity of Gears since The Coalition took over, I have to admit I really like this new dev tuning. It felt a tad jarring every time I couldn’t “air back A” or my weapon swaps took longer than I anticipated but after getting used to it I feel like it really does add to the complexity of combat.

I fully believe that wall-bouncing, Up A’s and Back A’s SHOULD always be a part of Gears multiplayer, but they shouldn’t be the answers to every situation and right now all too often they are. I think this new tuning makes strafing, utilizing cover and fighting with your team more important in more situations and that is a good thing. It feels like Gears!

Nerfing the movement and slide speed is exactly what this game needed - now you actually have to put thought into playing the game the right way.

I will say that I would suggest removing the shot delay when sliding into and firing over cover. Also, increase the strafe speed and decrease gib range (mitigate ‘bot walking’).

Otherwise, the beta tuning is excellent.

Where are these settings available to play right now? Thanksgibbing?

So much positivity about this insanely slow movement. You do realise by supporting it you’ll sign this games death warrant for the majority?

You’ll all soon know all about it when it’s applied and you change your mind.

Movement is too slow. If you reduce it even further I’m out. Too much change with gameplay for some unknown internal polling.

Hi!

To me it is - okeyish? , it sort of remembers the classic Gears although it is cool to see the air back A is nerfed along with the Up A, (although Up A was easy to counterattack tho) i would just suggest to increase a bit the speed of weapon swap.

It might be worth to pay attention to the reaction of the people when it was implemented accidentally at the beginning of the operation,it is still quite 50/50 kind of, from streamers, content creators and pro players. I can understand why.

I guess it is just matter of the actual gaming trend, fast pace gaming is a common standard, with the actual 4v4 in certain maps the matches are too long and with the new update could be quite longer too (it is hard to measure in the dev playlist as it is casual)
If i am honest i like the current tuning i would add the nerf to the Up A’s and Back A’s

Some people say it feels like gears 2…good…but also gaming has change.

It is also another learning curve, so be careful

Maybe this could be a competetive tuning?

man, i feel like doomsday is upon us. i got the series x a few days ago and the game feels perfect. it might be the best ever version of gears gameplay in my opinion.

i have always complained about feeing sluggish and unresponsive at times but it hasn’t felt like that at all since i got the new console.

and now TC is going to take this away from us.

We didn’t buy 120hz monitors, new console and whatnot to play a slower game.

i watched Avexys’ feedback video and he is like the only person who understands that this isn’t one sided…

I just don’t see the general population of the game liking this new tuning as much as the “talking heads” and i feel like TC doesn’t know this.

:frowning:

Go to a custom match and set it to dev tuning. The dev tuning playlist will be back to replace thankgibbing on Tuesday

Yeah, i wonder where the info is get, i think generally the people liked the tuning of mid op 4, for me it is good cause is a bit more comfortable when switching games.
i have not seen too many streamers or content creators playing the beta… Then who is giving feedback?
Yet, when at the beginning at op5 when it was deployed accidentally ppl complain of the new tuning hmmmm

I hope that the changes in the movement and the gnasher do not arrive, the movement is super slow and the gnasher is much more inconsistent than the current one, the truth is I do not understand why every so often the tunings are changing

Facts, everyone whos enjoying this Movment is Braindead and not a real Gears Fan in my opinion.

Hi, today I played the 09/12/20 beta tuning and when I played it I noticed that with this beta the game became boring and repetitive. In the following points I will say why you should NOT put these changes to the multiplayer gears

  1. The change of weapons is very slow and you have to remember that Gears lovers like that adrenaline rush of switching between a Lancer and Gnasher. Although with this change the game will fall on the campers and the players will not leave a cover for fear that by changing a weapon they will sell an enemy and kill them
  2. Since they made the decision to lower the damage of the lancer now it has become useless and with this Beta Tuning it is a lancer that with half a cartridge of bullets kills an enemy. The lancer is fundamental in Gears because there are players that although they play in a direct and aggressive way, there are players that prefer to play as support and with this beta tuning the lancer is more insertable than ever, this is Gears of war and it is not Gears of Gnasher
  3. The speed in Beta tuning feels like a Gears Anniversary and it gets boring

RECOMMENDATIONS TO IMPROVE THE GAME

  1. (In this one it will be spoken the damage and the cadence of the lancer) In
gow 4 when emptying the magazine is 4.25 sec and the damage when killing an enemy is 11 bullets
Gow5 When emptying the magazine is 4.62 sec and the damage when killing an enemy is 13 bullets
Gow5 beta tuning When emptying the magazine is 4.62 and the damage when killing an enemy is 16 bullets
While in Gow 5 and Gow 4 the difference in killing an enemy is not much, the cadence of the gun does make a difference since it takes time for the bullets to leave the barrel of the spear.
  2. We want a shotgun that doesn’t make 99% when we shoot the enemy right in the face, we want a gnasher like the one in Gow 4 THIS WILL MAKE THE COMMUNITY HAPPY
  3. When launching into a cover it is very slow and this is understood that the change was made by the new players, but it is time for the new players to get used to increasing the speed
  4. PLEASE do not increase the time to switch between weapons is too slow and as mentioned above this will encourage the camper
  5. 5V5 in King of the Hill, this is necessary because being 4v4 and a player is out of the game there is a huge difference between the players being 5v5 will increase the speed of the game and fluidity

I have noticed these changes in the community because I am part of several Facebook groups and in reddit they also talk about these changes and I would like you to take into account these points because the Gears saga has been in my life since I played the first Gears, and these changes will benefit Gow 5 a lot

I see u put effort into these ideas but they will fall on deaf ears tc doesn’t care about anything that goes against what they like this is constructive feedback but they won’t even consider it they said in their most recent stream “from what we see everyone is enjoying the beta tuning” which is clearly lies because post like this are happening there is a large amount of the fanbase who don’t like the tuning probably more that don’t than do but they don’t care enough to reevaluate it
