Hi, I want to reply with a answer I have already given to somebody on this thread. Personally I feel a difference in speed, I notice that I can no longer move anywhere near as fast as I used to, but I am saying that is a good thing because we were able to move too fast.

What would your thoughts on this? Do I have a point or am I wrong? Personally I feel a huge difference because I used to push the movement speed to the limit of what it was capable of doing.

I myself have pushed the 650uu to the point where I can bounce through the lasers on Exhibit and only put me 2pt injured because I was pushing the wall bounce to it’s limits. It’s at these extremes where you’re going to notice just how fast it is.

As I said, I didn’t feel a difference unless I was sliding max distance to max distance and really looking for it so keeping it at 650 over 600 will make no difference to me. I only suggested slowing the slide speed down further in the Dev play list to get an idea of it really slowing down for most players.

I don’t think the slide speed is the issue with the game. This is what TC want us to test and you are in a better position then me to test it.

I can’t find the Exhibit clip but it was identical to this (link at the end), it was too fast for the game to keep up, I started bouncing backwards and the camera was looking at my character’s face. That’s how you know that the game is letting you move too quickly.

I know I was playing on PC, I know that I was using KBM, I know that is what allowed me to move this way BUT I was utilising a part of the game that is legitimate and other people can use too, there would be nothing stopping a player in your game doing this. This is what 650uu allowed for, this is what is too fast. Most people don’t do this though so that’s why most people don’t see too much of a change on their end, but I assure you that going from a speed like this, down to a speed that most people consider to be “normal” is very noticable and it’s the fact that people who move like this are being slowed down is where people are going to notice the overall speed of the game drop, even if they don’t feel it in their own movement.

In a sense it’s the same way that I personally felt no change on my end when Adhesion was removed because I turned my Aim Assist off manually already (I normally play controller 99.99% of the time), when TC removed Adhesion I felt ZERO change on my end but I noticed it was a good change because other players were no longer able to benefit from that assist when playing against me. It’s the exact same here with movement, if people weren’t pushing the game that fast then they’ll notice almost no change now on their end, but the people who they’re playing against may not be able to move as quick as they once could. I hope that makes sense?

Sir. Ive been playing gears since E day. It is thee only reason why i have an xbox and is literally thee only game i play .
I have fallen jedi,red dead 2 and only played 10 min in.
I am an og geara player and i like the faster movement. Gears 3 is actually the least amount of time i played out of the whole franchise ( we arnt counting garbage az z JUDGEMENT. 7 days if tht)

Honestly. The movement its at now is slow af imo. Op.2 was almost perfect. At the time the only time,the only thing people were asking for was new content ( mainly maps)
I truly so not understand why people want more delays, cooldowns and slower movement. No one can convince me that it makes the game better.
I dont understand how slowing the game down makes people think and say " now you can think about your movement more precisely " its the opposite imo.
As it stands now, you can easily down anyone that mindlessly bounces. Boucing already gets you killed in this game. And people want it even slower. I just dont get it.

I would like to know if its pc players that are in favor for the slower movement or console.
I play on console and like i said. Its slow af.
In op.2 the game felt very fluid.
People are complaining about these UP As are acting like they dont know how to do it themselves. Up As are still going to happen no matter how slow the game is.
People act like that how they die every time. Its easy enough to avoid an up A. Just go wide. This is coming from someone that has probably died more from UP A s than killed with it.

I dont even feel this so called speed boost as it is. It just feels fluid.

They already nerfed all the starting weapons
To slow this game down will literally just make it exactly what it was before the actives were removed. The game will just be slower.

You should be able to heal while wallbouncing.

With the slide speed decreasing it makes even less sense that the shooter isnt responsible in preventing the bouncer from healing.

Why is the development team so hell bent on babying newcomers I don’t see any other game changing the way it’s play style is just because I’m new to it. Wall bouncing is what makes gears what it is and this slow movement ruins the game it shouldn’t matter how fast someone can bounce if they practiced and got good then it shouldn’t be taken away cause someone else is lacking. Wall bouncing and shotguns is what gears grew on and now it’s like your making the lancer stupid OP and killing what built the game what it is in the first place. Never thought I’d have to move on from my favorite Xbox game to something else.

Yeah you are make prefect sense, so you are you in favor of the slide speed being kept at 600?
It sounds like I need to play a few more games of the Dev list and concentrate on others players moments rather then my own, though there may only be a few that can move at this speed.

I felt the same when the Adhesion was removed and like yourself I had switched off Aim Assist as soon as TC made it available.

I really appreciate this constructive conversation, it’s a lot better then game chat :laughing:

This slow down feels just about right, heading towards the right point where you have to 'think while in battle. Wall bounce cancelling needs looked at and 'stopping power of gnasher slightly improved so if you get 1st shot in you have the advantage in close quarter battles imo. Keep up the improvement please :+1:

Thank you, but although I was happy to have managed to do it, I think it’s a really bad thing to have been able to do. The guy who I killed had no chance as I could get along that entire walkway in a fraction of a second.

Totally, it’ll still allow for a good paced game without allowing for what I just showed you, I don’t want to see it drop lower than 600uu though because I think that will start slowing EVERYONE down, rather than just the people who were moving like what I just showed you, I don’t think that’d be a good thing becuase I don’t think that the average player’s speed was ever the issue, I think it was people who were pushing it in ways like I just showed you.

I know I can’t speak for anyone else but I think that MOST people who give feedback never really say that something needs nerfing because they are doing something that’s bad for the game, most people complain because somebody else can do something that’s bad for the game. In this case I am saying that I can do something bad for the game, I know others can too and that’s why I feel a drop to 600uu is best for everyone, whereas if I were being selfish I would be wanting it to remain at 650uu so that I can keep an advantage.

I watched your clip and I don’t believe that it’s “too fast” tbh. A good player would be able to poke damage you twice and get you down at that speed. (I know I could)

Well as I have explained already, I enjoy talking about the topic and that’s the point of a topic based Forum, to discuss the topic (who’d have thought it?). Had you asked just that i’d have left it at that because that’s all of an answer that you even need, but you didn’t.

So to answer the rest of your comment (which I would have left out otherwise). I manage a Gears of War group of over 19,000 people (The biggest Gears fan page on the platform that we use) who have a strong dislike of many factors of this game, I get messages and tags daily on various social platforms from many people asking me to check something, answer something, to ask the developers something or to pass on their collective concerns and / or opinions. Many people don’t like to take the time to give full and constructive feedback, but as I enjoy the topic, I do it based on both my own and their behalf. Therefore I try to put more detail and thought into my comments, I can however understand your confusion though given that you probably don’t find yourself needing to do this with your 45 Xbox followers. I’m not sure if this number is just a reflection of you as a community member or if it’s your own interesting attempt at social distancing. Would I have said that had you not tried to be smart? 100% no.

No problem, i’ll give it a like for you, but actually yeah, I actually do think I know an awful lot about what I am talking about now that you mention it.

This thread is for the developers to understand the community, it’s literally for detailed discussions of opinions, if you’d prefer to see short and to the point posts, I think you might enjoy Twitter a bit more. Complaining about a long Forum post on a Forum is like going into a library and complaining that you need to read a book to understand a story.

I’m not sure why I would make a different post to discuss this topic when the developers themselves said that it’s helpful for them for all of the feedback in relation to this topic to be in 1 place.

I really like the slide speed in the beta. This is another big improvement to the core gameplay in my opinion. The pacing of the game just feels a lot better and I can still move fast and evade no problem. It seems dev is finally on the right track over the past couple weeks. Next please look into lowering gib and poke.

Not quite sure how I feel about the slip speed change. Doesn’t feel much different, but a good player will learn to adapt to most situations anyways. . I will say this though the new cover slip speed feels abit like how it felt normally when my frames would drop mid game play. I do not like that feeling. really sluggish. One thing I do not want TC to do though is slow the game down or change it so much that it will deter good players from making moves . Gears of War as always been an high skill aggressive game…the game in its current state is easy enough. I truly miss the days in gears when skill and a skill gap meant something. I am loving the fact adhesion was removed, but movement was in my opinion was at its best during 2.2 or w/e update.

After playing more of this playlist, I am starting to like this movement style more and more. You can still play your play style efficiently even with this drop.

This targets (IMO) a small portion of the community who abuses wall bounce mechanics. You can argue that this is catering to noobs or whatever, but I would argue that nobody enjoys playing against that play style (truly abusing the wall bounce/cancel)

Because you can still efficiently bounce and be fluid, I am for this.

The speed seems fine either way to me. I am just wondering however, why you decided to trash your reload system that you implemented in GOW4? And if you’re sticking with that decision, get rid of the cooldown bar and the ability to reload with a full clip. They serve no purpose anymore…
