Official Feedback thread for Developer Playlist - adhesion and active reload changes

The active reload changes are coming into horde Daniel. Jamie mentioned this on stream

They only care about their own pocket. It just so happened that nobody except this small community needs this game, so they are sometimes forced to please us =(

TC spending a whole month to test the playlist is a bit long imo, if I had to guess I’d say TC is definitely interested in how popular the playlist is over time, they wonder if the setting could hold any sort of sustained popularity over time… Bring your friends, your family, your dog, your neighbor, erybody you can to beta playlist.

A very long time ago closer to launch.

That logic that “iTs oNlY 24 hOuRs OlD” doesn’t work because the implementation of a playlist in game doesn’t mean the changes people want are a lock to happen.

Just because a thread went up and the playlist went live doesn’t mean TC is off the hook for months of non contact and communication.

And I’ve gave feedback. Give us TDM in this playlist, What’s the point of changing the active reload and making it more difficult to get an active reload if you get no pay off for doing so.

“YoU rElOaD qUiCkEr”

Well that’s great, give us the old active reload so it’s easier to get an active reload.

They took away the active rounds great, give us back the old reload system since it’s faster to get a reload.

REALLY? I remember having actives much later than that. At least until OP3. I’m gonna go look back at some older game play.
EDIT: yea I guess they did. I kinda have a vague recollection of the update to remove gnasher active dmg in the first OP. I also have such specific memories of doing actives and getting the flashing bullets that indicate dmg. I guess my brain is getting the versus UI mixed up with the horde UI. I feel like it was a hallucination or fever dream rn :joy:

Gnasher is perfect, movement felt a bit sticky but not sure if that was a connection issue or what.

I played a match last night and the movement was very sticky. Mind you I play without aim assist anyway so there wasn’t really any change for me in this playlist. @xxxGAUNTLETxxx told me the other day that movement seemed better for him so I’m interested to hear what he’s seeing now. For me, it’s still bad.

TC will destroy the game with changes like that! There is a story about Active reloading. Respect the story of Gears of War! Focus on interesting news like more maps, because the game is repetitive and boring. Constant gameplay changes demonstrate the fragility of the game, and are disheartening. Former fans are abandoning the game for this reasons!!!

@mjrdecision

The 8 player min to start, may want to check that, just had 2 matches in a row start with 6 or less players

Only other complaint I have is how the higher the ping, the harder to kill an opponent it is. But that’s an existing issue, nothing new in this playlist

Day 3:

played about 20-25 matches, so in total played about 50 or so matches in my estimates.

Lancer is wonderful, its a bit harder to use and because people don’t just run around with actives all day crossing is less of an issue, I think this helps multiple maps play better, District/Icebound middle ring (you know the one) seems to feature a lot less crossing (there is still crossing of course, just less so)

Gnasher plays pretty much the same imo, maybe a really insignificant increase to the difficulty curve, but I doubt these changes would matter too much to CQC.

I think that removing adhesion in general makes Pickups worse, any of them with accuracy being a requirement is hurt because you won’t get as many free kills, or aim assisted kills, but I doubt it’ll be a significant difference, like maybe weapons like Longshot/Markza/etc. will have a 5% reduction to kills, something sorta noticeable but not too impactful.

The novelty of the playlist has sort of waned at this point, I’ve played against some really tough opponents today and I’ve also played against far worse opponents skill wise, so my thoughts I feel aren’t too biased.

I will be playing some more but I’m done with the playlist for today (I’m all geared out for today :slight_smile: ) overall I really appreciate it, I also enjoy it a lot because from my perspective its sort of what KOTH should play like, so feels natural but its also not the most exciting playlist lol.

I want ask something, ¿why I can only report the people who I have added as a friends and who I don’t have added I Must ■■■ for that, Wouldn’t be better if it could be reported even if it was not added to your friends?.

Thanks.

You are right!!!

Boy, does the game play so much better with all these changes.

I’ve been playing w/ aim adhesion off since like Jan so not much has changed for me in regards to gunplay but I can tell there’s a notable difference with those who evidently haven’t :eyes:.

Active changes seem alright, definitely less lasering going on by sole or a couple individuals. Team fire is still effective of course, expected-- I think the lancer is in a great spot.

Honestly without adhesion the launch lancer w/ recoil and all would probably be fine here too, wish more people got to experience that before they started tweaking everything but I digress…

Some problems, I guess: I’m not really that partial to KOTH or the core weapon placements (Buzzsaw, Mace etc) but for a test, whatever. I was also getting some weird delays on some actions but i’m just going to assume those were network issues for now

A+ tuning, IMO.

TC is killing the game. Focus on interesing changes:
•Remove flashbangs;
•News maps;
•Redo old maps;
•Gnasher has 8 shots;
•Return the old ranking system;
•Respect the story, keep active Reload;
•Return the old respawn system on Escalation.

TC’s logic for making it KOTH was that it was the most popular playlist and so if they made it KOTH more people would come and test it, worked for me :sweat_smile:

Whats the story behind active reloading?

these changes are not working for me.
for once, in gears 5 the lancer was actually useful and now that the damage bonus is removed, lancer is back to being useless. gnasher shots aren’t registering and i felt clunkier when moving . now that the active reload has changed, what’s the point of even mastering it anymore if there are no more bonuses to it. it’s useless now.

I’ve been playing gears since '06 but gears 5 has been the most engaging for me because i felt effective when using any weapons. I’ve played gears 5 more than any other gears because of its accessibility, including aim assist. now we’re reverting back to only gnashers, making everything else outside of granades and explosive weapons, useless.
at this point, it is only catering to the small number of hardcore players. if these changes move forward, i won’t have a place in gears 5 anymore which sucks because i love this game.
