How does removing aim assist and active from lancer count as a buff?

It doesn’t. But are we sure there’s been no changes to weapon balance in the new playlist?

I’ve read that on the dev streams they’re alluding to an upcoming weapon balance update. Just speculating but to me it seems like it will get buffed. Especially if they’re increasing the gnasher clip.

I’m digging this tuning. No adhesion makes me feel more in control while aiming and no active Lancers means more team fire to hold lanes instead of just one person with an active. Please add this to all pvp modes.

Jamie pretty much said that would be the final change to the lancer, iirc something like “it’ll be nice working on other stuff besides the lancer” sounds to me like the lancer won’t be changed too much after the changes in the playlist are implemented. That being said the lancer could definitely recieve indirect buffs, like Jamie (TC dev btw, in case you didn’t know) said the next thing they were going to test is movement, specifically they were thinking about slowing down how fast players can slide into cover, now that would definitely buff the lancer indirectly methinks.

I also don’t agree with you about flashes, nevermind the fact it’ll be a nerfed version (half of previous flashes AoE) the flashbang was a great tool for punishing campers/setups, smokes were effective as well but having that option is always helpful imo.

assuming the changes as shown in the beta playlist will come full circle into GOW5 in OP4, I see the lancer playing a much less important role going forward, although it’ll still have its uses it won’t be the ridiculous volley of bullets that you used to witness, where all 5 enemies would just spray into the hill.

regardless of how you feel about it I do intend to playtest these changes for myself a lot more, so if you’re ever on my dude just invite me (I’m assuming you already added me right?)

The odd thing about the playlist is that the flashbangs/8shot gnasher aren’t in it, like they know they want to put that stuff into OP4, why not just put them into that playlist? Probably the only thing that is odd about it.

Hmm. The weapons feels great without adhesion i see people hitting me less and less no cheap and wild shots anymore. I don’t know about removing damage boost on lancer speed rate should stay increased otherwise the active system feels unrewarding and pointless. (Feedback from above average player i know how to reaction shot, wallbounce, slapshot and lefty flip)

For sure man i always enjoy playing with you. It’s a heck of a lot better playing with competent teammates lol.

As for flashbangs, if they’re not as powerful that’s good. With them being load out options i worry about the spamming of flashes. Having them as pickups seems good to me because they can still play a role but you don’t have the potential for multiple players spamming them.idk I’m just stingy with these things :laughing:

Yeah I liked the new sniper reticle until adhesion was removed, now it seems more of a hinderance for sure.

That’s the goal. In this test, an active only confers a slight advantage of speed in a tense situation, not a wholesale dominating position.

Well said. I had been looking for the best way to celebrate and appreciate that they’re giving players a chance to have input and to listen to their feedback.
That is something that will help a lot.
I know that the enthusiasm is artificially high because we’ve been neglected for so long but you do attract more flies with honey.

According to Jamie, the 8 shot would require a title update because you’re changing the content of the game (more shells on UI, increasing clip) while these changes are client side. He didn’t talk about the flashbangs but I assume that would require a title update as well as they’re becoming a loadout option again.
Personally, I think this game will be in its best place with these changes, the flash and gnasher changes and the cover slide speed change.

I would like to give an opinion on the movement and reaction of the characters, for example in gears 3 the character reacts very quickly when running or sticking to a wall, here I feel that it takes a little bit of that, and another thing that I loved was that in gears 3,2 and 1 the running gave a path of vertigo by the movement of the camera, for example in 3 that feeling was great apart from the fact that the character ran a little faster

The changes feel awesome!! I Love the fact that we are no equal and no one has de advantage of aim assist! Thanks so much! Keep it up please!

Playlist Update.

We made the following changes to the Developer Playlist:

  • Increased the round score to 240
  • Increased minimum number of players to begin a match to 8
  • Removed the Active Reload cooldown on the Lancer and Snub

Awesome. Ran into a few 1v4 and 1v5 matches last night. 8 person minimum will help keep focus on the content of the changes and limit the unfairness of off balance teams.

It’s old school feel and it’s the muscle memory of og players plus you get ur reload off a tad faster i believe

Dana can you tell us more about health regen stopping when you wallbounce and if it’s something you’re planning to remove I felt penalize just for using a skill that requires even years to master
