Official Feedback thread for Developer Playlist - adhesion and active reload changes

Personally everything feels better, but I would still like the option to have my active bar in the middle of the gun (with the Gnasher atleast)

Also for future Beta Playlists can you please include Different modes in it (at least TDM as well) each mode plays very different and as someone who doesnt play KoTH a lot I cant really see how well these changes translate into different modes

Hi TC,
Can we look at introducing sliding mechanics (even without cover) while roadie running in PVP? Lancer damage on person sliding should be less. Gnasher damage can still be same depending on where they land shot.
This can counter some of crossing done by 5 stack teams.

Sounds like a good trade off to me. I miss the gears 1 gnasher

I agree. If they are going to remove the adhesive nature of the bullets, tune back the reticle bloom.

Finally got to put a couple hours into the beta. Than I played one rank match. I can truly say I won’t be playing rank anymore and if the population isn’t there for the beta lobby I’m probably just not gonna playing Gears untill op4 or whenever this new tuning is implemented. :+1:TC.

There is always gears 4 and ultimate edition lol but seriously if they tweak a few things to the changes, it needs to be a universal change. It will help the game a lot.

Much better, I noticed less experienced players werent ā€œluckingā€ as much. Won a lot more trades, this is a great step towards making the game really fantastic.

For me is almost perfect, the perfect reload square shouldn’t be at as much on left side, i would move it 10-15 pixels to right side.

I sometimes play OG gears trilogy and this active reload gives me feel that it is almost a copy of what we got in earlier games.

I just played 4 matched and those changes were great.

It would be nice to move Dev playlist to main verse menu I think more people would find it.

Why change reload speed it’s just ruined my muscle memory , why change this when no one asked for it ? This is why people get frustrated with tc . They change stuff no one wants changing :joy:

It’s called a revert! My friend and I were very pleased the old reloads returned. I hated the new timing, old timing felt like a glove!

After playing the Dev Playlist for a couple hours, the changes felt good. The return of the old active system on the load out guns felt good. I wish they would be implemented onto all weapons, and remove the ability to just try for perfect active, after perfect active. The removal of adhesion felt good on the lancer, it felt very balanced. The gnasher felt a bit odd, I’m sure it’s due to the removal of adhesion, I’m now missing shots I’m used to hitting. All in all I think these are good changes.

Side note, I know it was stated that the classic omen would not return for Gears 5, I honestly think that is a mistake and the team should reconsider. If it was added back I’m sure most if not everyone would switch back to it. It just feels cleaner not having all the red restrictioning your vision, and while I think the simple omen was a step in the right direction unless there is going to be some sort of opacity slider added it still feels like too much.

Tested Beta:tuning preview

1pc (ping > 100) + 9xbox (pings 40 to 70).
Still as bad for me (pc) or worse (aim assist on and off)
It will be surely another added benefit for Xbox players.

What I noticed (beta and normal pvp) is that when there are ping gaps (+20) between the different players, my character is a real bullets sponge (killed quickly and at far distances) as well as a marshmallow whose movements slow down when an opponent is near or aims at me.

This week, I played and lost 10 sessions (because more than 50 ping gaps between each player) before finding one where the ping gaps were consistent (+ - 10) … Won and the last one of the week.

The end of the OP3 will be for me the stop of pvp when I will have obtained the success Grind season. Sorry that it has been postponed because I have to wait to go on holiday hoping that I won’t get sick like for the op1 and 2.

It would be more urgent to have more content (maps with evolving environment such as icebound or avalanche, reclaimed windflare and harbor haze in gow4), more consistency in the drop-rate of the skill cards in horde, access to the old weekly skins in the personalization menu … because I know that ping and lag issues are not new and will never be fixed.

played about 20 matches, I ended up playing with folks from my friendlist, I think the experience was pretty positive but keep in mind A) was a stacked af team vs randos and B) everybody there had tons of experience in GOW5 MP before so in some way you could say the changes would be harsher or more noticeable for them.

Lancer isn’t the spray and pray weapon it is in regular, you have to actually be accurate for a change to down people, I suspect that if this were to become a staple in ranked that lancer fire in particular would take a nosedive, especially considering the return of the 8-shot gnasher, thus maps probably would play far better as camping in one spot doesn’t become as valid, TDM in particular would see a huge improvement gameplay wise.

I do think that people will just immediately start spreading conspiracy theories about what’s changed and what hasn’t, I also suspect tons of people will hate it as they can’t get kills as easily as they once did, so TC would hear far more complaints about ā€œeating shotsā€ and the like.

In terms of how this would impact the ranking system I would expect that almost everybody would play much worse at higher levels, so the skillgap would increase making the climb to Masters a more challenging prospect for many. I say this knowing full well that the ranking system will change soon.

I do intend to play more of the playlist, hopefully against better opponents, I wanna see how I fair against sweats.

Edit: Forgot to express my thanks to the TC devs for letting us test stuff out, just a really fun and engaging way to gain feedback from fans.
