Official Feedback thread for Developer Playlist - adhesion and active reload changes

I for one have had this adhesion desabled since the option was available so no change for me. But the active should not be touched. The Lancer has been nerfed to a point where its fine there’s nothing wrong with it. That’s the point for the mini game (the reward). Why are we even considering removing it? If you want this so badly this should be a separate play list for those players not those of us who have been playing since day one and see no problem with the active reload.

Finally we are at a point in Gears 5 feels right.

True skill in gears is back !!

This has been an amazing update with everyone who has been a long gears fan happy, the reloads feel so familiar now and that’s perfect the Lancer still feels slightly OP but its better than normal and allows players who use the Lancer to still have hope.

The assistance and adhesion removal is perfect, now you can push into fights and somewhat feel that the true skill is back in Gears of war. The gnasher feels solid now and you can have some great battles now and know that the better player won the fight.

If Gears 5 is your first gears game then this will likely not suit you but we have advised people that we played with to stick at it and you will adapt quickly with it.

Thank you TC for this update, its going to be very hard to return to ranked after this, i hope its a swift change due to the positive response its receiving.

Can you please make weapon switch punishable again. Players being able to switch between weapons freely on reaction in cqc is way too strong.

All good changes. Certainly feels like older Gears like the playlist info said.
The only concern I have is for the precision weapons, as now they’re harder to use. With adhesion, I hit headshots with most of my shots, now with adhesion removed I missed most of my shots completely. It could be something I would need to get used to but I’m not entirely sure.
Worst case I suggest keeping a less strong version of adhesion on precision weapons only (boltok included).

Edit: Additional Thoughts - Adhesion on has thrown off my tracking and the shotgun is harder to use now. Also, the adhesion now being off is just a learning curve I’ll have to adapt to, not necessarily a negative. As well as changing my playstyle and finding a balance for my sensitivity settings that’s all I think my learning curve would have to address. I think the game will be in a much better place with adhesion removed and the shotgun back to 8 shells than it is currently.
Aside from adhesion off on the gnasher and precision weapons, my tracking on other weapons such as the snub and lancer are in a good place and it feels more natural as opposed to having adhesion on.
I also suggest treating quickplay as the more casual pvp area and ranked as the more competitive. Specifically in this instance, a good example would be having adhesion off in Ranked and adhesion on in all quickplay modes.
Also again, the worst case scenario where adhesion is kept in PVP, look at the strength of the adhesion and make it weaker.

Only played a few games, aiming definitely felt more manual which is much better, Reload threw me off initially but I’m not against it.

The active reload is too fast. It’s like you have to miss the reload on purpose to land on perfect active.

Personally I love the gnasher how it is now and how it’s been since the last update. Great range and damage. You guys can’t cater to everyone’s complaining. There will always be people who don’t like things. The gnasher has been changed so much already that it’s unfair. This is the best gnasher we have ever got rite now and I would hate to see you ruin it again. And I’m talking about the base game not the beta playlist.

Yep, it’s harder to hit headshots with it gone (namely sweep shots).

If you’ve played past games you’re probably going to experience some growing pains adapting to the G5 reticle(s) as well, if you haven’t had it off all this time.

If they just brought the one-shot down range, they wouldn’t have to constantly toy with the gib-range. All those 86% situations would probably just end in a down.

That’d also be a slight nerf to aggressive//head down play, since they’d be that much less likely to sponge a shot.

The game certainly has a lot better pacing. Thats how it felt with the way my 6 or 7 games went anyway.

When the next Xbox comes out will players now have to play pc players!? They cannot disable cross play anymore correct!?

I’ve played roughly about a hour on this new playlist and the changes are a BIG positive, the gnasher feels better and adds more skill to land shots. I was in more gnasher duels and felt rewarding when I killed them, the active reload it better I like the change feels better and natural. Thank you for doing this I can see myself playing alot more gears 5.

The movement is a lot better and I love the active reload now (Gears 1 style) but the sponge is insane.
87% and 84% are all over the place.

Hello,

I suggest to remove single stick, theres no sense that almost everybody can wallbounce with it, n the glitch configuration for classic alternate when u can remap the buttons n ve an adventage. Thats all, thanks.

Going to make this simple and its my opinion
[Things I dont like]
Changing the active timing again isn’t it for me i would rather not have to learn the timing again for no reason. I think the changes could be made to the active’s without changing the timing for them but I will adapt if need be obv not that big of a deal.

As for flashbangs i feel not the entire team should spawn with them in koth would be a better alternative than giving them back to everyone.

[Things I REALLY dont like]
The movement system currently in the game feels smooth and non restrictive. In the test server playlist it feels restrictive and something just feels off. I have spoke to multiple friend and we all agree that it just feels off and would be happy if it didn’t come to the live game.

[Things I like]
The change with bullet adhesion or whatever was said is good in my book imo the aim assist in this game is way too strong and things like “bullet adhesion” shouldn’t be there in the first place. (I play with aim assist off so its this is a plus)

Played 4 matches so far. While no bots made for some unfair matchups. The verses here feels more fun than anything I’ve experienced so far in G5.

Not saying this is perfect, but definitely on the right track.

Didn’t play well for me at all. Not sure if just needed to get used to it. But the lancer seems more powerful than the lancer in the other playlists.

The gnasher sometimes does not shoot for me. I wish TC would consider decreasing delays. Not responsive enough imho.

I agree on the Gib range but don’t you feel like it wouldn’t work unless we had a 8 shot Gnasher?

In my point of view, the lancer is fine, it just needs a little more damage and a change of sight, since when it comes to shooting it opens a lot. For the shotgun the damage is perfect, it only needs to be eight bullets since it is very frustrating to have to reload in each encounter. With the assistance of targeted in my opinion this perfect one feels that there is no assistance. And Tc trust you that they can improve the game, and one tip to attract more people is to shut down the gears of war 4 servers so that people feel compelled to come back.
