Official Feedback thread for Developer Playlist - adhesion and active reload changes

I 100% approve these changes, all of them (especially the aim assist change)… the game just feels more satisfying and in my opinion now it makes wallbouncing or just strafing to avoid shots more effective and I appreciate this thing A LOT. Sure now sniping will be harder but I am fine with that, before was to easy to land headshots.
As some people spoke before in these thread, I can’t wait for this change to come to other modes… btw I will stick to this playlist for the time being lol

GOOD JOB TC

I say eliminations are okay because it makes the fact that kill stealing happens less annoying. The game still differentiates between kills and eliminations in the stats section of the menus.

There’s only one tuning in this game. The only difference is Aim Assist is turned off in competitive play.

It’s intended for people with disabilities, hence the screen centering. It’s not intended for people who are able-bodied looking for an advantage.

Show ranks too i want to know whos on my team … I dont want a empty bag of doritos a used condom a penny an a dirty tissue on my team

Thanks 4 this I played about 8 matches and I like it and was good but then latter in the day I went to rank and had some trouble going back the regular mechanics.

I think that it is just sad that every time I get on this game something is getting reworked. Just leave the weapons alone so it forces people to get out of their heads about gnasher only battles. An active lancer is something that you just should pick and choose when to fire back and or run. With that not being a fear anymore it has me worried that now the game is just going to be so bad afterwards.

how about a “steals” column on the score board?

joking aside we didn’t need Elims before and it wasn’t hard to see who was doing the stealing. players would get called out for that in previous games too.

and what happens if they are on your team? going to quit? ruin everyone’s time?

turning your nose up at less skilled players is why all this stuff is hidden in the first place.

I played 2 matches and it was 1 round KOTH. I was getting a feel for the gameplay and started to improve but I dislike playing Stacked teams lol :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Might give it another try tonight.Hoping for the best and like that TC is trying to fix gameplay.

Just played some… Love this!

Please implement across all pvp modes.

I’m so glad that you are finally looking into the reload system. Your on the right track with making them faster, but how about getting rid of the ridiculously long penalty for missing an active all together? I love Gears and always will, but we do not have Fortnight or cod player bases, and I believe it’s largely due to this “active reload system.” I’ve been playing gears since 1, and I’ve always hated that stupid mini game. You’re alienating new gamers from wanting to play Gears at all. I cant tell you how many times I’ve tried to get people to like gears, but when the they get killed, cause reloading without active, takes waaaayyyy too long, they get pissed and say it isn’t for them. So I show them the active reload system, but that takes time, experience, and practice! It’s not a very friendly system to newbies. Hell it took me up until the end of Gears 3 to really start to nail that active even during a fight! I’m good at it, but due to faulty controllers that have a habit of double tapping when they go bad, and the occasional hiccup on my part, I still hate and curse that active reload system to this day!! You should make it that, not only the reloading timer is faster, but the punishment for missing it, shouldn’t be long either. I think it would take the Gears franchise super far and make way more accessible to a wider audience if you didn’t just shorten the punishment for missing the active, but if you you took punishment away all together!! It’s just not fun. At the end of the day, “videogames” that aren’t fun, aren’t going to be played.

There’s still some kind of assisting going on. When I would jump into cover I still get hit. Did TC really nerf the aim assist completely? Scenario I pop shot, then slide into cover, I’m already in cover then boom I got downed. Kill feed showed bullets hit when my character completely dodged the bullets. Same with Hammerburst. kill feed still indicates some type of assisting going on. Bullets shouldn’t follow characters that are roadie running or dodging. A player should calculate movements not have the bullet magnify towards players. I’ve only been playing the beta since TC introduced it. I don’t play ranked anymore because what’s the point? When the beta says auto aim is off for everybody.

Ok. The whole team doesn’t have auto aim anymore. So they aren’t landing shots. Leading to everybody pressing B. Tell me. If your aiming and landing all your shots then all of a sudden two players hit with a melee. Your down. Does it feel like Gears or more like CoD or Halo? No skill required just press B.

Hey,

It’s hard to say what happened in your situation without seeing it sorry, but by the sounds of it I feel like you’re describing latency (ping).

There’s are so many potential factors that could cause the issue but i’m confident in saying it’s a connection issue and not Aim Assist in the case of what you’re describing. Maybe me even using the word “issue” is unfair, maybe it’s more of a side effect of online gaming.

When we’re playing, it’s easy to believe that what we’re seeing on our screen is true, we expect it to feel like LAN when in reality it isn’t. The server is the host so the server is accurate, the closer to 0ms ping a player is, the more accurate their device is simulating the game based on what everyone is doing in that match. I don’t want to go and explain networking and servers in an Aim Assist thread but I think you’re noticing something whereby on your screen you’re in cover, on your opponent’s screen you’re not yet in cover and this is due to latency. The server needs to determine which outcome will be true, in your case the server decided that the shots landing were true so it hit you with damage. It’s really hard to explain in a short paragraph sorry.

As for the kill feed, I am assuming you meant kill cam? If so, just disable it. They never work and they aren’t accurate.

To answer what you started by asking me.

There IS still aim assist in the beta gamemode. Gears’ Aim Assist is built up of 3 mechanics, Friction, Adhesion and Magnetism. This mode only disables Adhesion, meaning 2/3 parts of the Aim Assist is still active.

Adhesion - The camera will track your target for you
Friction - The reticle will slow down when over a target
Magnetism - Missed shots will still be pulled in to the target

I don’t know what you have seen of the issue but it’s something that has been complained about by the community for a very long time, recently a well known YouTuber by the name of mX Rawr published a video whereby he shows the very issues that we’re hoping to see this beta remove. In the video he shows videos made by both myself and another YouTuber called Chase.

Here’s Rawr’s video showing the issues

Professional player, Domez also made a video on Twitter highlighting the issue Magnetism creates. Personally I think this needs to go also.

Here’s Domez’ video showing Magnetism.

It’s worth noting that previous Gears titles had both Friction and Magnetism. Adhesion was new to Gears 5.

I hope that answers you a bit

Uk player on console. It was difficult to get a good game going in the playlist last night as lobbies were missing players, I tried several times to join new lobbies but always short a player or two. This was around 9pm BST. But the game still feels meh… the gun barrel dances around so much compared to GOW4 / UE. I don’t know if it is an intentional game mechanic or a combination of stopping power and some other stuff but to me it feels like my gnasher is just flopping about in front of me. I still get my Gears fix on 4 with servers half a world away and random ping the games are still more satisfying than 5. Probably doing something wrong but this iteration still does not give me a reason to stop playing 4

I never use my melee button we must play differently. To each their own.

nothing will ever compare to the 2 piece in GOW2 though, people were meleeing constantly.

The one thing with the gnasher, I guess it maybe the inexperience but blind firing feels sooooooooooo off.

Agreed 2 piecing in GoW2 was the worst in all of them

Jamie said they would add an option to either enable or disable the auto screen center regardless of whether you play single or double stick movement in the future. @SpruceDust
