I’ve spent hundreds of hours playing ranked KOTH, just because I’m “used” to people constantly camping and unloading fat clips of lancer fire into me doesn’t make it any less annoying, one could argue that the value of making any sort of significant changes this far from launch (9 months post launch) is sure to meet backlash as all the fans are used to how the games plays now, but I am of the believe that this is just more in line with what Gears 5 should’ve been at launch, so instead of whining about it being “too little too late” I’m a “this is awesome” type fan.
Also the game only has 2 “new” maps, Allfathers is generally percieved as a great map, whereas Pahanu is pretty much shaping up to be one of the most hated/unpopular maps in GOW history (I made a thread about this btw, in case you might be interested) and you can definitely tell why (one is lancer dominant, other isn’t)
I also want to ask (or expect) people who are commenting how many matches/games have you played of the playlist? The reason this is important is that biases are reduced the more one plays, and its easier to grasp how it plays on a general level, not to say first impressions are bad, but I value opinions of someone who’s poured hundreds of hours into something much more than someone who’s only spent like a few minutes.
When I first tried using the lancer in the playlist it was pretty jarring, I had grown so accustomed to the aim assist and how easily it made using the lancer that I honestly couldn’t do too much with it the first few games I played, but over time I kind of got used to it and had much more success. When you are crossing across the map it doesn’t make an enormous difference except for the active removal, the reason being that aim assist with the lancer is only there at mid range anyway so you kinda just use it as usual, but when you are crossing people mid range its really noticeable, the mid ring on District plays fairly different because its much harder hitting enemies within the hill, so I definitely think you can still excel with the lancer you just gotta “get gud” as it were, none of that handholding garbage. Must be hard for scrubs who can’t aim
