Are there any plans to introduce a full war journal down the road? If not, I wish TC would just expose some APIs that would allow developers to create their own war journal apps; I know that’s what I would do if it were possible.

You mean that insanely useful feature introduced in Gears of War 2 to keep an eye on things like multiple different stats as well as collectibles?
They scrapped it, for unknown reasons.
It definitely should’ve been in the game.

I imagine they still have a ton of stats tracking happening in the background, but haven’t surfaced it to the UI in-game or on their webpage.
It’s a fair amount of work, but I don’t think it should be hard to do assuming they have all the infra in place to expose stats to the UI easily.
Gears 5 is looking to be my most played Gears game in a while, so it’s a shame I can’t keep tabs on the interesting stats that I used to right now.

Hey, that’s such an '08 thing.
We in 2020 prefer having a stats page and splintering all of that other nonsense in different directions to add layers of clutter to our usually bland UI and backgrounds.

Besides, the old one was also for tracking achievements on 360, Xbox one kinda does it itself nowadays so we know where Microsoft got that idea from…
Gears 3 tried to revamp the war journal in a new way and i liked it, tells you your level, if you can re-up, what you earned for ribbons, Medal progression, collectibles tracker, etc…
was specifically thinking of GoW4 when talking about bland UI and background lmao

Unfortunately no there wont be one. Octus said that the UI teams resources where focus on Gears Tactics and as a result the War Journal was not developed.
The War Journal from Gears of War two is perfect in my opinion. Simple layout.

If you compare the number of people who have cell phones to the number of people who have an Xbox. It’s pretty clear where all the focu$ i$ going. The people running the show for Gears of War Don’ work for the fans pleasure. And its not like they dont know what to do to please us. They know exactly what theyre doing. Isnt it obvious? They sell us the same ship over and Over and over agin. Its how the world works. what was I originally going to talk about again? Idk I just want them to redo gow2 again EXACTLY how it was with host well maybe no glitches but mostly because of the war journal. I loved the weekly/monthly war journal. Made it my goal back then to finish top ten weekly and monthly with less matches played and higher kd and win loss than others. those were the days…
Made a thread similar to this if you want to check it out, war journal/Leaderboards were such a fun part of the past gears of war games, condensed community meant fun Leaderboards where you’d recognise a lot of players.
No they butcherd that outa the game because they want less fans.
I don’t think it’s that they want less fans, I think they had a huge scope for Gears 5 and ended up having a lot of problems at launch that needed to be addressed instead of spending resources on something like a War Journal.
It’s frustrating for sure.
Is there even a function to see the recent scoreboard after the game…

I don’t think the release of Gears Tactics is a good reason not to introduce a War Journal at ALL.
