New currency and store for OP 4

That’s one of the few parts of the update I don’t agree with. The cosmetic rewards for doing well in Escape are akin to the ranked cosmetic rewards, granted it’s much harder to earn the ranked ones. But that’s the whole point, if I want a Master cosmetic skin I’ve gotta earn that rank. If I want a cosmetic from a Hive then I’ve gotta get into the top 5%. And if PvP players struggle to do so, oh well. Lots of players won’t ever make it out of Silver and that’s the point.

I know I’m not good enough to make it to Master in ranked, but if I earn Gold or Onyx then I’ll be proud of what I’ve earned. If a PvP player wants the Escape rewards, then they should have to earn them, not buy them. I know this will be an unpopular opinion, but that’s the point of having rewards you have to earn. This is just TC catering to the PvP crowd, which I will admit is probably much larger than the PvE population. But let’s just be honest about what it really is.

Disagree with this opinion or not, but I also think skins that are earnable purely through skill(or mostly, since PvE difficulties also may require a certain usage of skill cards to succeed) should be permanently available to earn. Be it Horde(if they ever implement leaderboard rewards for it, that’s where I think it should definitely be permanently available rewards because a Horde run with Score cards is going to be a real stinker to complete), Escape or Versus. None of this time locked stuff.

(I don’t personally care for any of this “exclusivity” stuff, I just get things if I like the look of them.)

Not a bad opinion, and actually a nice idea. My point was that it seems TC is catering to the PvP crowd, understandable since it’s likely a larger population.

But my point is that if someone wants the rewards (skins) in a mode they’re not great at, then they need to earn them. If a PvE player really wants a Gold (insert weapon) skin, then they have to rank up and earn it. If a PvP player wants a cool skin that’s only from getting 5% in a Hive, then they’d better get grinding. That’s the point of the rewards, and with the exception of the final Hive, most Hives are around for a few weeks so you get multiple weeks to work on getting into the top 5%.

Then again, I’m more of the old school gamer where I’d want rewards for doing stuff in game like in Gears 3. You want this character? Beat the campaign on Insane (Inconceivable now). I know there are plenty of PvP players who never played the campaign. So I prefer rewards like that to encourage the players to try out and maybe finish modes they wouldn’t normally do (and the Tour currently tries to do a bit of that by offering rewards for all the modes).

I’m 100% feel this. Maybe they will say in patch notes Monday. Otherwise, we will have to wait until Tuesday and it will be too late to use scrap. Hopefully, we can still get 500 iron per ToD.

It was confirmed we still get 500 iron per tour

Just call them “Goins”. Really glad I just saw this after i used 1700 scrap on upgrading cards for horde.

The game is already full of suspicious sexual sounding things as it is. Gnasher, Snatcher, Longshot…

Was just about to ask this question myself, thanks for the info.

Thanks for the clarification.

I’ve been playing pop waiting for op4 to come out. Pop has a two level currency mechanism which works OK. One thing I like is you can use the "higher (crystal) " level currency to buy the lower, more useful currency. Some stuff you can only get with crystal so there is a useful strategy decision to be made. Really powerful upgrades are expensive as they should be, but not out of reach for people that can’t play that often. You sacrifice other stuff to upgrades.

Not a big fan of the clan system for horde. I’d like to see a lobby like system for choosing like big boy gears.

Anyway the point is there’s some interesting stuff in pop that my be useful in 5.

For the record I was throwing out “Goins” tongue and cheek. I mean its as original and creative as Gear Coins…ya know…just combining Gears and coins. I guess i could have said “Coirs”

no gears points for tdm?

how much coins do the horde cards cost?

Common - 60
Uncommon - 300
Rare - 1000
Legendary - 4000

20k to go from level 5 to 6 for epic.

Scrap got multiplied by 1.2 in conversion. But 4* cards had a cost increase of 1.667. So we lost value in scrap conversion. Gee thanks TC & @mjrdecision

You might have lost value in a scrap conversion if skill cards were the only thing to be considered.
But since you can now use the Gears Coins to purchase character skins it is considerably better value.
