I was just about to make this thread lol.
Buying stuff seems pretty pointless now if I got that right.
I also think making it super duper easy to unlock characters isn’t too fun, reduces attachment to said characters.

On the store, I like the changes and I think this is the main thing TC just said let’s give the players what they want. The store was always a major complaint since launch.

Yeah but if I can just spend Gears Coins (that’s actually what they’re calling it btw, super lame imo) to get stuff a week after they’re in the store then why would I bother to spend any money on anything?
Forcing players to do stuff to unlock characters made the characters feel a lot more valuable, if a character is just given to you with very little effort it just cheapens the value.
Also, did they say what the rank past General would give to players?

I didn’t see anything on the rank.
I honestly figured the coins (which I agree. Is a lame name) will be a good or bad thing. It’s either going to make it super easy to get content or it’s just going to be another hard grind in the hopes you buy iron.

I would have preferred if we could’ve used those coins for conversion into Reup XP as well.
You currently still have it through the Tour unless I misread or missed something somewhere.

So you can only get Gears Coins from Tour of Duty? I know they’ll answer all this later today but just thinking out loud my guy.
Gears Coins are earned just by playing. The easiest way to earn them is by progressing through the Tour of Duty.
And for those that finish the Tour, we’ve introduced the new Legends rank, which sits above General and enables you to keep earning Gears Coins for as long as you play. We’re also giving Gears Coins as Ranked and Escape rewards.

Love this new system, Agree though that gears coins is not a great name (would have prefered credits even), but being able to earn all content is nice, also like the removal of scrap, have to wonder if boost will boost the amount of coins, because otherwise i see no point to boost now.
Like the way you get characters now, while i get some people liked the challanges it did prevent some people from getting characters since not everyone plays all modes.
Also putting things in permenantly is really nice, this whole FOMO thing was really stupid.
some people will want to get certain things before others, plus you probably wont get enough coins to get everything so over time there will be more and more things you wont be able to get.

So all iron will be converted to “coins” once op 4 comes?
Nope, Iron will still be Iron. However, your scrap will be converted to Gears Coins.

just going off of what the dev yesterday was saying TC probably realized that the amount of players that actually got the content (skins, banners, marks, whatevs) was incredibly low so this was their reasoning for changing it.
I suspect they’ll make some character skins/weapon skins take a boatload of GC to unlock, otherwise everyone and their mum will just be running around with dapper cosmetics
