New achievements

If the other achievements are really doable against bots then i don’t have a problem with them. I mean im not exactly thrill at the tough of going to play VS bots, its very boring, but at least there doable cause of that. Wait before calling me noob. I mean most of them i can do them legit, like torque, boom, drop, gnasher, lancer etc. But the armbar one… 3 kills in 4 bullets, again that mean either 3 headshots or 2 headshots + 1 bodyshot x2 or a teamate have to soft them up.

I barely ever take the embar tough as im not fond of it, so its a no brainer i won’t bother with this one, ill just do it against bots.

Other ones like the retro… man how much retro there is on maps? Not much, and actually sometimes if you play KOTH Social, you get a round where its something else instead !! So cause of that im more than likely to do it vs bots too, mostly.

Its really just the super that is a huge problem. You say you will reduce it, ok, better than nothing, but even if you put it at 5, its gonna take like uber long…

Maybe you are a guy that love the sniper Octus and play a lot with it. Some peoples don’t. I know its not my strongest asset in GOW, i rather have a better teamate play with it and do more kills, thats call teamwork. Now we will see a bunch of “beginers” running to it and wasting it because they will try for the achievement.

Thats damaging.

Plus i think you really need to figure things up eventually that its really not cool to keep adding stuff to do that we already did !! Historically DLC achievements where link to said DLC. Like for instance if COD release a map pack, they will add achievements for zombie mode on THAT SPECIFIC MAP. Thats the point. You guys on the other hand just literally laugh in our faces. You release an achievement that is litteraly stuff we may had done during the long time we played this game and expect us to do it again when the game is 1 year and a half old !! Normaly achievements like those release with the game, so you have from DAY ONE to do them. Not at the end of a game life cycle.

And its not because a few “anti-community” peoples, again to remain polite, complaint about the retro active factor that we all feel the same. Pretty sure you would do a poll and majority would say they want them to be retro active.

Why am i being punished because i did something on the game PRIOR to the achievement release. Again normally added achievements are related to DLC so they couldn’t be done prior to there release, as the content was not out. Here its stuff i could do since original release of the game.

If its the futur of achievements really (just being added infinitely without a real purpose) then achievement hunting will be much less fun. Cause its not cool when you are unable to complete a game because there is no completion possible as they keep adding random stuff without purpose.

Neverwinter did the same thing to me (screwing my completion with irrational achievements) to the point i litteraly quit the game because no way i was gonna grind 500 hours of the same content for an achievement.

BUT even tough i disagree with what they done, at least Neverwinter release FREE content every 2-3 months, they add achievements linked to the new content, its an MMO, its normal in a way that it keep adding content (endgame) and link new achievements to it. GOW is a shooter, and lets be honest, the season pass was a dumpster fire. But its not because you messed up that we should be punished by it.

You could had release your achievements during the season pass at least.

I get the “supporting the game” aspect, but trust me its not the support we want (or need)

Actually tons of peoples request a story DLC ever since RAAM Shadow, i don’t understand why you guys don’t do one. As for MP, there is tons of stuff you can add without going in the direction you did (lets make horde harder but boost the skills highter so basically inconceivable is the new insane, it ain’t harder since highter skills counter balance)

But i think the cake was to add a difficulty to the campaign… like 4 of them was not enough already, and you did AFTER most peoples where already done and out with the campaign. Replaying the same campaign 10 times ain’t what we call fun, we want NEW stuff, story DLC, stuff like that.

You have what, 15 years of locust war? You could make a whole game just filled with Locust war missions, wich a bunch of different characters, like mini stories of 3h or such. Or you could make those DLC…

The lore of GOW is so rich, its mind blowing its not exploited better.

I have some good news to share for those concerned about the Super aspect of the Longshot achievement.

We snuck a VERY last minute change into the build based on the feedback we began to receive on Tuesday. We weren’t sure if it was something we could do for this Update, but I just got word the process is underway.

This change will reduce the required number of Super ribbons with the Longshot from 10 down to 2. This change might not be active the day the Update goes live (we hope it will be) depending on parts of the process needing to happen fast enough - but if it’s not, it won’t need another Update to do thanks to the work we just snuck in.

Any Longshot Supers you get if that does happen won’t be wiped - you just might see the achievement requiring and tracking for 10 of them until it hits the Xbox Achievements side of things.

It’s progress but not the best solution. @TC_Octus it’s still based on circumstantial luck. Why does the Longshot have to have two requirements anyways? Just make it 10 Hat Tricks and call it a day. Requiring the Super even once is going to mess up matches so just let it go. I get it; you guys want to bring a challenge but there’s a difference between challenging and just poorly thought out ideas. This one falls within the latter.

We hear the concerns about it changing player behavior in the game, but it’s speculation based discussion at this point. It’s great to know what the concern is here and we appreciate it. It’s something we’ll be monitoring closely as we look at data, play and user reports.

We’ve had this said to us about other Versus achievements focused on weapons before and saw minimal feedback or discussion after the achievements release with regards to that happening. Many of us at the studio play often together and we have never seen that behavior impact a match either.

Additionally, there are other factors to consider. Many games out there today have challenges that are far more specific or potentially gameplay impacting than these achievements are - yet they don’t ruin the experience.

We hear you - and it’s a completely valid concern - but we aren’t going to pivot our list on ifs and buts when we’ve yet to see any evidence from prior achievements to cause concern. We’ve already considered the design implication of these achievements and feel they won’t be detrimental.

If you see this happening, please do send us video clips and feedback on it. We’re more than open to changing them if they have an impact that the other achievements did not.

The only achievement that will be an issue is The Super anyways. That’s why so many say to get rid of that requirement. The reason other weapon achievements didn’t impact actual matches is you needed 50 kills with the weapon. No specifics, just kills. Because of this players went into coop VS AI. The Super requires rolling players which bots don’t really do so they have to go into matches with players. This is why it can ruin matches. Unfortunately the closest thing to your new achievements is Gears 1 and that game was badly messed up by those weapon achievements.

I have an honest question to you @TC_Octus. It’s not meant rude, offensive or anything like that (if it does it’s because I’m not a native speaker as I’m from Germany) I don’t know if you’ll answer it, but it’s something I’ve been asking myself and wondering. Didn’t you see this discussion coming? Did you really think that the community would be happy with this new achievements? What did your team discuss? What was your team’s opinion? I would love to get insight how this could have happened as I could have told you in 10 seconds what reactions will be like. I really would like to understand you and your team. I just don’t get it.

Gotta say, TC, I started Horde and Versus about a month ago (bought the game for the campain May 2017) and I’m starting to see why people are getting tired of this game. I have been enjoying the Horde achievements (Verus in Gears is stupidly inconsistent and infuriating unless against bots). However, after grinding for Master At Arms, I’m pretty disappointed that you have added “Weapon Mastery” achievements. There’s so much overlap here and it’s very obvious you guys are only doing this to get as many people as possible to come back to the game to buy some more packs. Additionally, some like the Longshot Mastery are purely luck-based. Are you seriously going to try and pass that one off as a skill-based achievement? Guess how many are going to get it legit and how many are going to boost it.

I like the new Horde achievements though. They are different and seem like a fun challenge. I’m all for new achievements since I love going after them, but add something new! You’re trying to get people to come back to the game, but give a proper reason to do so. Change it up like with the new Horde achievements. Right now it’s sorta like saying, “Hey, do a more specific version of the grindy crap you’ve already been doing but get an achievement for it.” It’s true that only achievement hunters will care, but isn’t that exactly (or at least the largest) the target demographic for these updates?

@T0NY_HAYABUSA This is because of the dynamic of the discussion. Once the crowd is angry it’s close to impossible to calm them down easily. Even if your changing things a little into the direction they want, it won’t be enough. You saw that when Microsoft announced the Xbox One. Even doing a complete turnaround wasn’t enough. Damage was done and X1 is still suffering from the initial announcement.

Well 10 to 2 does make a difference. At least ill just have to be extremely lucky twice… Still a bit worried that it could take months before i get it, but maybe if im lucky ill be able to get in a match with a friend on the other side and have him help … looking at all the possibilities.

Its better than nothing for sure. But i really hope you got the memo this time. NO MORE OF THIS !! I get that this one is codded, but no more !

Ill agree with the guy above tough. Personally i didn’t had to do Master at Arm much as i was almost done with everything as the achievements was retro active. Think the only weapon i needed to do 20 or such was the markza (i hardly ever take it) , i loved the gun in judgment but i really despise it in 4.

But i imagine the guys who grinded the kills with every weapons… only to pretty much start over again :confused: I feel there anger…

The moral of the story here is that players get grouchy when you add too many achievements.

Stoic Slab : Yeah pretty much. To be honest at this point i just want my completion and be done… just play for fun. They added enough already. Not sure if they want to go to 4000 because GOW4… but i don’t want 5000GS for GOW5 :confused: Its getting out of hand, i get a game like Master Chief Collection push the 6000 GS but thats like 5 different games, not just one.

With GOW4 anyway they pushed so much the level grinding that im never gonna finish the wings, hell not even get close to half way by the time 5 release. So its not like i have nothing to look for progress. And thats somebody who did got the emblem and seriously 4.0 … Its just the wings level are atrocious… There made for horde speed runners, not regular folks who do 3-4 games of VS each day.

They really need to completely change the Longshot achiement. I’m glad they acknowledged fan feedback and nerfed it but it isn’t enough, the other weapon achivements unlock through more natural gameplay but that Super ribbon? Pure situational and luck based, skill my ■■■, no one has the reaction times to know and aim where someone is rolling.

I kinda hope he does. I would lol for hours. I’m more interested to see potential lag/trade issues and their reaction.
