I would make a joke here but octus already beat me too it.
The last time I played Social Quickplay, was yesterday.
I had 5 vs 5 human players for several games, before attempting five Ranked KOTH matches for placement.
So it seems to me that the two bots on each teams, or 3 vs 3 human players bug is probably fixed recently or at least for me.
Nobody in the right mind would go into Ranked KOTH, purely for the Achievement(s), unless theyāre okay with possibly losing.
These players may actually be around Bronze to Gold, I donāt know.
The more serious players would only go into Ranked KOTH to win, so these are unlikely to attempt the Super/Hat Trick Ribbons, and probably often the Onyx/Diamonds.
I know bots donāt roll often in Co-op vs A.I, so never mind that mode, only good for 10 Hat Tricks.
This form of Achievement is quite similar to the one in Gears of War 3, where you must play as RAAM and kill Minh 10 times in Versus.
It was also completed by either messaging someone in opposite team, or by random success.
Jokes are not luck based. Jokes are based heavily on a terrible decision and someone doing something wrong.
TC make bad decisions all the time. Jokes at their expense are on a lot of threads.
Also, in general, itās best to not make the same bad decisions over time.
Once again, another circumstantial achievement which shouldnāt even exist. How is that even an achievement? I remember shaking my head when I saw that one and I never got it because barely anyone I played against used Minh and I wasnāt about to try and boost that. But as for social, I donāt tend to get into full matches that often. Maybe Iām unlucky but I know for sure that Iām not the only one. But either way it doesnāt matter. The achievement itself is nothing more than them trying to keep the population alive by making achievements that they know a lot of players will struggle to get. This must be the only way they can continue to claim āour player count is higher than any other Gearsā. Funny enough Gears 3 has less lag and thatās with 83 regional/worldwide players in KotH⦠but hey new achievements!
I donāt think those Achievements being added solely for player count.
More like giving incentive to continue playing, additional challenges (not to confuse with Griffin-like challenges).
If anybody could pull these off, kudos to them.
They deserved it, real definition of Achievement.
Itās not a must have anyway, donāt let it bother you.
Unless having as many Gamerscore is something you want, you know what to do.
Thereās all sorts of Achievements, none impossible.
Why should there not be an Achievement which is really difficult to obtain?
Thatād make it even rarer, not a bad thing.
It could even make it to the list of āTop 10-100 most hardest/rarest Achievements in Xbox gamesā articles⦠
Difficult to obtain? Sure, such as:
Lone Wolf in Halo 5: Complete Legendary solo
Gears 4: Complete the game on Hardcore or harder with Iron Man
Not by doing these things:
Forza 6 and 7: Underdog - In a 24 player race start last and finish first. Any quitters mid race nullifies the achievement.
Gears 1 & 4: Kills with so and so weapon, but also now circumstantial ārollsā.
(Online play achievements should NEVER require a play style change or a specific action by other players)
Itās not that the achievement is hard to get, itās that it could lead players to play vs in a way thatās selfish and anti competitive, which is not what you should want especially in ranked.
Itās only alright in rest of Ranked modes, just not KOTH and Escalation IMO.
But Ranked shouldnāt be the place to aim for Achievements anyway, players want to win.
If want Weapon/Ribbon related Achievements, then shouldnāt be attempted in serious/competitive matches anyway, other modes are more suitable for that.

Where do you think these players are going to go? They want to maximize their opportunities for the kills and thereās no better mode for that than KotH. Unlimited respawns with players fighting in a centralized area. Of course thatās the mode theyāre going to go for. Did you ever see what the Co-Op vs AI lobbies were like for either Master at Arms or Slaying It (5000 kills)? Always KotH and I know this because I needed to use a Salvo and I never pick it up in Ranked KotH.

It should even work for Gnasher Headshots.

No, their achievement specifically states you must use a Longshot to acquire it. The ribbon isnāt the concern here.

But that Achievement with Longshot only, my previous points still stands then.
I ask TC in the dev stream around the time when the march achievements camed out if their still going release any more achievements and they said there going to realeah one more set of achievements. The new horde one is a joke and yes I do have all the horde achievements I only missing 6 achivements in the game that is the campaign achievements. But I do understand why people are upset for the longshot achievement I just wish that count for the gnasher.
Iām partial to a cheveo or two, but enough is enough. Are TC setting a precedent with this huge number of cheveos and gs. Will Gears 5 and up with hundreds of them ?
Makes you wonder why MS still allow single title games to ship with only 1000gs.
I may go after a few depending what they are but I will try not to lose any sleep over them.
Ugh. I still remember completing the āMaster At Armsā achievement from the December update. The last weapon I needed to work on was the Mulcher. It took a while for a map to come up with that weapon on but I eventually got into a game on Mercy. Sprinted for the weapon, picked it up and for the entire game, I had one of my own āteam matesā either meleeing me or throwing smoke grenades whilst trying to stand in front of me to obstruct my view whilst all the while screaming abuse at me for the whole game.
I look forward to more of the same with next weeks āforward thinking updateā. But hey, if someone on my own team starts giving me ā ā ā ā , at least I now have my response ready. TC said itās good to have something to work for over time.
Also, not retroactive? Again? Seriously?! Whilst Iām not claiming that Iāll already have 10 super ribbons with the longshot, Iād definitely have a few so it would be nice if they counted. If I did have the 10 then personally, Iād want the achievement to pop straight away as it would be more like a badge of honour to say I done it before there was even an achievement for it. Not to mention it would save me having to fight over the weapon with everyone else.
Iām sure weāll find out tomorrow if itās true but can anyone else or someone from TC confirm if these will be the last set of achievements for the game?
Just going to voice my opinion and say that āluckā based ones such as headshots while rolling are super annoying. Hat tricks are fine, but supermans are going to be annoying. Iām going to get it, but now Iām going to have to fight for the sniper with my teammates for so many games until I finally get it.
Itās doable, but is annoying for sure. I wish they were less dependent on how the enemy player is playing.
I think this is just a ploy to keep us playing their game until GOW 5 comes outā¦I mean from the negative feedback seeing here, they may lose more players because of these achievements
Thatās all it is, desperation. Yet instead of actually thinking of fun things to do which take time they just settle with this game ruining bore of an achievement.
I shudder to think what else they have in store as this is just the startā¦
I never thought Iād say this about this series but Iām now looking forward to an announcement for Gears 5 at E3. Not because I canāt wait to play it but because it will mean these achievements they keep adding in a desperate attempt to bring people back will be coming to an end.
Before anyone accuses me of moaning. I currently have all achievements for this game but I still play ranked games regularly. Specifically Escalation as itās the only mode I get any enjoyment out of (when half of my team doesnāt decide to quit that is).
Therein lies another problem for me, if I want to get these ribbons with a Longshot, Iām going to either have to (a) Be MVP and lose a round so I can place the weapon of my choice or (b) Win the round as youāre supposed to and hope someone on the enemy team places it for me. Social Quickplay and Core Modes just donāt do it for me Iām afraid. Largely due to the weapon tuning and the drop in/drop out nature of the games.
TC have only shown there hand with one of these weapon based achievements and I can already safely say, these are going to ruin games in a lot of ways.
Also, to the people who say āyou donāt have to complete the gameā or ānobody is forcing you to get every achievementā, whilst that is true, personally, Iāve sank 600+ hours into this game. Iād estimate half of that time was getting all of the achievements and the other half was for fun. It will be very hard for anyone at this stage whoās put in similar amounts of time to say, āokay, forget it, Iām doneā. Whilst not everyone will understand that way of thinking. Thatās how a lot of people will feel over this.
Like I said, I still play the game regularly despite having all achievements. I actually prefer playing multiplayer without having things Iād consider to be a distraction but thatās just me. What I would say to TC is that if you canāt think of anything fun/original to add to your game achievement wise then maybe stop adding stuff altogether and just focus on making the game work and let that do the talking.
