New achievements

That was my thought. I will also paste my response to his seeing as this is becoming a dupe thread (not due to you)

I have to say, OP’s achievement ideas are a bit much.

After watching the stream last night I was thinking of some, achievable achievements, but that wouldnt be super easy, just a bit of a challenge.

Earnables Related:
50G - I’m the Scrapman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop) - Scrap a total 500 cards (bounties, skills, skins etc)

Viral Achievements:
50G - It’s Contaminated - Play with someone who has this achievement.
(similar to the Lambency achievement from Gears of War 3 except maybe a few selected players are granted it to effectively be patient(s) zero)

Horde Achievements:
50G - Torches (and Pitchforks) - Have each player use the repair tool to kill an enemy in the same horde session on Normal difficulty or above.

Versus Achievement:
50G - Dont Mess with the Carmines - Have a COG team consist of 5 Carmine Variants
50G - Blight on Mankind - Have a Swarm team consist of 5 Locust Variants

I could sit here all day and think of reasonable achievements that aren’t insensitive to casuals and also give a challenge. (obviously the last two would be quite simple) but still require some scrap grinding if you were missing a character.

I guess we’ll see what sadistic ideas people come up with nearer the time.

I can get with these. The issue that I have with any more “grindy” achievements is that they have stated before that “future achievements will NOT be retroactive”. Why would we want to test them with stupid comments, and threads like the other you referenced, when it would just piss off 99.9% of the community if they actually put these in.

Does anyone actually think they will get 250k kills across all game modes, at this point in the game, without speedrunning and boosting, before G5 comes out? Well, if you do, you play games too much and need to go outside. Gears 2 had something like this but it was 100k and it dropped with the first set of achievements.

No, this last list (which in my opinion shouldn’t even be a thing) should be fun and painless or rely on teamwork to accomplish, like your “Torches” achievement. No more incon/ironman/whatever. No more maxing all of anything. All these ideas are dumb. If they were to be put in the game, it should have been from the start and not 2 years after the fact.

Achievements like these I can get behind.
While the Gears series is known for grindy achievements, hoping for more like these in the last batch. I know they’d like to keep the player count up until Gears 5, but I think we’re over the grindy things for this game, at least I am.

I’m glad people like my achievement ideas.

I hope I can have some positive input into them.

We’ve talked bout ur achievements before and I shared some disapproval.

But I like considering things from both sides - I’d say I’d probably actually enjoy your achievements if, AND ONLY IF, these were known since launch.

Releasing them this late would only cause conpletionists to forgo playing other games but mostly including gears 5 at this point.

I would only approve of such achievements if they were retroactive. To expect people to get 250k kills this late in the game from scratch would be unfair. I just don’t want achievements we can all get in a couple of days. I would like some that we could work towards for the next year until gears 5 comes out.

I want an achievement for uninstalling Gears 4.

Call it Reclaimed Hard Drive.

How about this:
Complete the campaign with only snub pistol like in the Gears 5 trailer.
Success and instead of receive an achievement you have access to the beta of gears 5 right now.

That wouldn’t be too hard, but I could see it

I’m done. You’ve just won my internetz for the day. GG, be sure to tip your bartender tonight.

Why do you care so much? Just play the game because you love it?

I do play because I enjoy it. I also like the feel of something to work towards. Do you not like hard work and the fruits of your labor?

I don’t like to work particularly hard when playing video games

I like a challenge of completing a games, but dislike when the bar keeps getting moves over and over through the same exact content. It’s annoying and feels like a waste of time. Normally it’s a fun endeavor, but now it feels like work. I work enough in real life. I don’t want to “work hard” on something that’s supposed to be a stress relief after working hard all day at my job.

I work 10+ hours a day. GoW is for relaxing.

I’m just ready to hear what we are voting on/choosing for September so we can get this over with. Any news on when we will hear what the plan is for coordinating “community achievements”?

I honestly hope they listen to fan feedback and do what most fans want… no more achievements

I’d love that, but you know it won’t happen. I’ll bet there will be a few per “game mode” with 1 grindy horde one and 1 grindy MP one.:gun:

Lol I really wonder what’d be the results if they did some official poll on here with the achievement options and one option was simply no more achievements.

I think I’ve seen only less than 5 people post on here praising new achievements but maybe they’d all come out of the wood work if some official poll was released

How do you know it will be September for the community achievements? It’s almost August now so not much time left and prepping updates takes a good while.

Oh and even though I have all the cheevos for Gears 4, if the option ever came up to vote ‘no more achieves’, I would pick it. I play Gears twice a week for fun now and I’d prefer to keep it that way so my OCD doesn’t get the best of me.
