Just throwing in a little humor into my idea man, and unless your some super K/d warrior or dont play as a carmine character this achievement concept wouldn’t take that long at all in versus
Sorry but that point doesn’t make much sense to me. Anyone that wants achievements is obviously going to try to unlock as many as they can, people that don’t care about them won’t try to get them or care about the challenges they provide. Which goes back to my original point, for the people that do wish to pursue these, they should be able to do it however they want to and not get in others way.
As much choice as possible seems like an easy choice to me from a development standpoint to please as many people you can at all times. So due to the restrictions placed upon these, I don’t find it unfair to say you are forcing people to do it in a specific way when it doesn’t necessarily need to be the case. That’s all I meant.
Octus, i am as veteran as you can be a veteran on GOW. Play since 06, almost always played the game with barely no break (just played much less during the last 6 months of GOW2) and honestly even if doing 5000 kills (let alone 10000) is not “dreadfull hard” or whatever for me, im not in favor of it. Not that late in a game cycle.
Its because i enjoy playing GOW a lot that i still plays it. Because all my friends have moved on a while ago. Usually peoples like to get and play new games as they release. To genuinly ask peoples to still commit hardcore to a game 1 year after release is way too much IMO.
Most peoples play hardcore the first 3-4 months. Using the “one game players” as an exemple is not a good one. I know there is some peoples who only play GOW, like there some peoples who only play COD and wait die hard for the next map pack every 3 months and then the new game. But the general population is not like that. Last time i checked there is 0.37% of the population who has currently the 5000 kills. Im a guy who play GOW fairly regulary altough not as hardcore as the first 6 months (mostly once every 2-3 days, for 5-6 games) and im not even one of them. 0.37% and the achievement has been released since March. We are in June, so thats 3 full months. Now tell me 5000 was not enough? Obviously some guys on twitter who play GOW 6h a day everyday would tell you 10k is nothing. They would probably had asked for 50k. But how realistic is it for the general gamer population?
Also ill admit one thing, im around 20k kills myself total in VS (short of a few hundreds) and i know i would had get much more if VS actually gave same XP as horde. You guys burned me so badly on horde because lets face it, i do 1 game on inconceivable with a bounty and i lev up once (wings 1 lev 85) , but i can play a full week of VS the same ammount of time and do fairly well with bounties and yet ill not even get half the xp bar for a level.
And the point who bothers me the most about your added achievements is that we have to start over all the time because there not retro actives. I should unlock what i already done in the game. Thats why if 10 000 kills would had been a requirement since release, i would had say fine no problem. If it would had been 20 000 kills, or 25 000 kills, i would had find it a bit excessive but i would had been “ok” with it. I mean i would had maybe play less horde, do more VS instead, and while working on other achievements i would had also done more kills. The difference if the achievements are there since release is that players can see them and commit to them right away, or choose to not commit to them by either not playing the game or just ignoring them.
Any added achievements should not be grindy ones thats a given. Especially not a whole year after the game is release.
Its obvious you are doing this to keep players on the game and therefore you expect them to spend real money on packs since there on it. If you cared only to keep players playing the game, you wouldn’t had stopped at 1500/2000GS on Judgment. And yes i know it was still epic games but a bunch of peoples including Rod are the sames as back then.
Anyway… i think you should look at the big picture more rather than the small one.
As for the funny achievements above like “die 100 times as Carmine” im actually super in favor of this. Its not like the game really ask you to die on purpose… Everybody dies on GOW, no matter how good they are, so all you would have to do is play as Carmine for maybe a few days/weeks. Not a huge sacrifice and there is like what… 4 different variants of Carmines (the 3 brothers + Gary) and every one of them as a Zombie variant so that make it like at least 8 different characters to choose from.
I have no idea how the achievements are chosen but my guess is that either TC will put a 50 achievement list and let peoples vote for there 10 favorite (or something like that) or they will have fans sugesting some, keep the ones they like, then make peoples vote.
No matter what system is used, i hope fans will be creative yet not annoying. I mean seriously i don’t think there is anything i haven’t done on this game since release. But since they refuse to make them retro-active, its not because i done something ONCE OR TWICE during a full 1 year and a half that i could do it again.
In GOW3 i did a Torque trickshot … ONCE legitly. Played that game like crazy during multiple years, even afer judgment release (my friends prefered to play 3 so when they where on i would join them on it) When it happened i yelled so much my roomate ran to my room. For peoples who don’t know what it is, its basically headshoting a guy with a torque and it goes into somebody else and give you a double kill.
In Judgment, even tough i fairly played the game(less than 3 but still much longer than most GOW fans, cause i actually liked the game lol) and yet i NEVER got one.
In GOW4 i only got one in horde and i actually had to work for it… I was on casual with the 2 last ennemies on recclaim and i had them run in circle while i tried to do it from atop the stairs near the spawn. My 2 teamates where also dead (randoms) , im sure they probably where cursing or wondering what “this idiot” (me) was doing since it took me a fair 10-15 mins to have them align and take the shot. Obviously that was for the achievement of having all ribbons (as part of seriously 4.0) I never did a “legit” one.
And yes i do take the torque fairly often as i like to play with it, but ill admit i mostly aim for the torso as its a one hit kill anyway.
But you get my point that doing this ONCE in like 7 years of playing GOW means that it was totally luck based. Its something amazing when it happen, but its not something you put as an achievement !! An in game reward (like emblem) sure … why not. But not an achievement.
On judgment i actually never got all the ribbons. I never got “the quinn” if i remember correctly because bots kills didn’t count toward it, never happened that i killed 5 humans that quick (will admit lots of games had bots tough due to the lack of popularity of the game) I didn’t get the Trickshot with torque either as i said above (i think it was called William tell overture, something like that)
I never finished all the medals either. I would had loved to but GOW UE was coming out and i was already playing Judgment by myself for months and months, and most of the time there was barely 200 peoples on the game.
My point saying this is that completing everything in GOW may be fun, but i won’t have trouble to sleep if i don’t do every single thing. As long as i have the official achievements. Thats how most peoples are. At least completionist. They care about achievements, the rest of the “in game” challenges are fun stuff but not “must do”.
@TC_Octus Thanks for answering my questions and clarifying the conditions of the achievements. I take your ‘yes’ to my second question to mean that the kill streaks will stack.
But on the topic of Feedback, could you please take a look at my thread that I linked and respond there? I have a much more detailed description of my question as well as some proposed solutions. I really promise I’m not trying to waste your time, I just want to make sure TC is getting honest, constructive feedback that can better the community and I really feel like this can help improve TC’s relationship with its community. Thanks.
@TC_Octus As a gaming dad that gets on when I can – but it ain’t that often – I enjoy the new achievements. The idea of completing a game is just not on my radar (and I’m confident I’m speaking for many).
Still, I understand the disappointment of those here that want that perfectly completed score. But I just wanted to offer an alternative to that viewpoint with my gratitude.
The ribbon/s achievement is absolutely absurd to this day still. I find that most of these achievements are just long grinds or extreme luck based.
If you had something like get 50 MVP in core and competitive only. That would be more based on skill and it might actually help people put some effort into playing the game.
Things that help people strive towards being better at the game rather than stupid achievements that don’t help at all. That way you might even increase your player base.
My complaints about this issue are nothing to do at all with completionists.
You know what bugs me? NO NEW CONTENT.
In a year and a half since release, we’ve seen waves of new achievements out. Where the hell is the content to go with it? That is what gets me about all of this. Simple as that.
Season Pass holders were screwed over, we’ve seen nothing at all on the single player campaign front since launch. It’s been microtransactions everywhere and all we’ve seen is grindy achievements as a way of putting GOW4 on life support instead of proper postgame support.
I’ll grind to 100% if i have to, the challenge is not a problem for me (look at my achievements if you don’t believe me). I HATE that they are just adding cheevoes for the sake of adding them.
Competitive players don’t care about achievements, Completionists do but don’t play the game properly when they’re trying to get badly designed ones (boosting sessions, exploits, etc…) So who does extra achievements without content benefit? No one.
I’m not kidding when i say this, but GOW4 will be the last Coalition GOW game i buy because GOW4’s release has been so half-hearted and poorly supported, i’d rather throw my money at an indie game dev that will actually produce new content instead of attempting to rehash old material… yet again.
The Versus achievements were nothing but a grind and took a while to get but they’re done except for the Longshot. I need two Supers which of course I can’t for the life of me get a player to roll while I have a Longshot. Oh well, I’ll worry about it when they hopefully bring back OSOK. Too many of these are luck based; do you know how long it took to even get a map with an Overkill? It was out of our control yet it’s not considered luck based?
As for Horde, took some great teamwork but completed those. Much more satisfying than those awful Versus achievements and this is coming from a Versus player.
Yeah, I liked how the Horde Achievements weren’t really that simple, but an actual challenging feat.
It was the closest to playing flawless with no deaths, no Power spent like Horde 1.0, and even what happens if we have no Engineer or Scout (5 Soldiers Run).
They were amazing to try out and succeed, really satisfying.
Nice to have a challenge, might need more of these kinds.
There’s a glitch for the all soldier achievement and makes it way easier to get…I found that out after the fact we did ours the regular way…took almost 3 hours on Monster Mash but finally got it then I got the no deaths which took two tries only and then the no spending power Saturday night…took a few hours and finished the run around 230am lol…def the most satisfying achievements in a while
I think that whole community achievement thing is going to do more harm than good…if anyone thought that these mastery achievements were bad with the negative remarks, wait until these new achievements come out and people will say how come you didn’t pick mine, mine would’ve been better blah blah
Is it easy to get in these GFC events? By that I mean is there a limit on the number of people that can play at a given time and/or only on a certain day?
its real easy , for community nights just message the host usually Evil 0ne with community nights to get in , for our tournaments just get a team together and sign up and your good to go
here is the link for our Gods of Thunder Tournament if your interested
Yeah… see this was my point. it’s a specific day… in this case a Saturday.
This won’t work for people who work weekends during those hours and appreciate completing achievements.
Achievements need to be completed at the players convenience
