New achievements

Saw on FaceBook Gears will be adding horde/versus mastery achievements. Will these be retroactive by chance? Thanks in advance!

If you are going to focus on forward looking challenges… then make them “challenges”… NOT achievements. You are alienating a whole class of players that appreciate completing a game. I’m SO sorry I EVEN started this game now… I won’t make the same mistake with Gears 5.

I gave up on trying to 100% this game when I saw how many horde achievements there are and realized how soul crushing playing that amount of Horde would be. Horde is so boring to me and I refuse to force myself to play it. It’s the first game in the franchise I won’t unlock all of the achievements for. Oh well.

Okay, these achievements are already a load of crap and you’ve only released two of them.

Longshot Mastery: Get 10 Supers and 10 Hat Tricks with the Longshot in Public Versus.

Let’s break this down for everyone. That means each player needs to get 10 Hat Tricks which consists of headshotting 3 enemies in a row. Also, they need 10 “The Super” which consists of headshotting a rolling enemy in Versus or Horde. I mean, come on that’s nothing more than ridiculous!

You have enough issues with quitters in this game and yet you add achievements into it that will not only cause players to handicap their team by going for weapons they’re not efficient with but also increase quitting because the map that was voted in doesn’t have the weapon they’re working towards. Seriously, do you guys sit around in a boardroom and intentionally discuss ways to mess up this community more? Sure, some will play Co-Op vs AI but not everyone will. You’re making the experience worse by doing this. Just stop while you’re ahead… please.

Spin it anyway you wish @TC_Octus but being able to be the one player that picks up a sniper and then headshot a rolling enemy is indeed circumstantial. It doesn’t matter how often someone rolls in this game you’re counting on another player to roll which means you’re relying on another players action. That makes it random regardless of how often or when they make such movement. This achievement is up there with the Underdog achievement in Forza Motorsport 7 where you’re required to Start Last, Finish First in a 24 player race. The game has to select you to start last and then you must win in a full lobby without anyone quitting out mid-race.

We’ve only seen two so far and the Versus one isn’t only ridiculous but also it is going to cause more issues. You should NEVER under any circumstances introduce weapon based achievements in a Versus mode. I highly doubt Co-Op vs AI would work because I don’t even recall bots rolling so most players will mess up Ranked as Social seems to be all bots now too. Rod Ferguson should know how ridiculous these achievements are given that Gears 1 had players constantly fighting with their own teammates for a weapon and costing the team wins for their own selfishness. But hey, who needs the lag fixed when we can have achievements that encourage selfish play?!

(Yes, I realize adding an achievement isn’t anywhere near as difficult as fixing the lag. It’s just frustration building up. But I’m sure most of if not all of these achievements are obtainable by me but I don’t want anyone, myself included, to jeopardize a victory because of a ‘challenge achievement’. There are enough issues with the community and we don’t need more quitters/selfish players who care about the achievement and not the victory. Don’t turn the ranking system into more of a joke by doing this…)

Yep horde is terribly boring in Gears 4. The percentage of people who even have the horde achievements are extremely low too. Just shows how tedious it really is.

I don’t understand why TC hate their fan base so much and are so desperate to add achievements which infuriate people and prevent them from playing the game properly.

I’m totally fine with the 10 hat trick ribbons, that makes total sense but the 10 supers? Why? So you want people to start bickering over the sniper for a chance at hoping someone rolls? And you want this to happen 10 times? Terrible.

Another achievement which has taken no thought whatsoever of the possible repercussions and shows how out of touch they are again…

The funny thing is it’s only available in public versus as they can’t program AI to roll… That’s it, so don’t force us to do this and ruin multiplayer because of your inability to do this.

Why 10 hat tricks and 10 supers? Like they’re even remotely comparable, it should be one super and even that would be a kick in the balls.

Yeah I figure maybe 1% if that will get that Supers achievement…plus with the lag this game has, that 1% might be a joke

Contrary to popular belief… Not completing all achievements in a game is not a mark against your manhood…

Lol, obviously. :stuck_out_tongue:

The issue is that they’re adding achievements that will affect the way a person plays the game in a Ranked setting. I don’t want to be playing KotH and have to deal with my random teammates fighting over who gets the sniper rifle while I’m trying to capture the hill and fend off the enemies. The game is saying it’s okay to be a selfish player and it’s okay to cost your team because we added an achievement you can only complete in Ranked. Yes, I said only in Ranked because based on what I’m hearing here and from personal experience Social tends to be mostly bots and good luck getting a bot to roll for The Super ribbon. If you want to add in Versus achievements you need to do it right. If we look back at a recent one, Getting Competitive, this was done incorrectly. It should have been Core or Competitive because there are a lot of players unable to even find a match in the Competitive modes. If they wanted to find one they would have to LFG a player from another country and in the end cause major lag for everyone in the match. My point here is your track record isn’t great when it comes to considering achievements. The key element is to NOT ruin the flow of a game. Adding challenges such as the Longshot challenge only brings back nightmares of all the ‘100 kills with x weapon’ in Gears 1. Talk about selfishness by players and you guys likely know this because you neglected to bring these achievements back in Ultimate Edition.

The Horde achievements are okay though. Especially considering anyone going for these will likely have a group whether all friends or by using LFG.

TL;DR: It’s not okay to add achievements that promote selfish play styles. Rank is based off wins and losses yet you promote playing as an individual by doing this.

Well I can understand that. I think I have one single “Super” ribbon. Maybe I’m thinking of another and have zero. That particular one is going cause havok in VS, I’ll give you that.

I have about 150 of them but the ribbon is for killing an enemy who is rolling. It’s not specific to any weapon so mine are for blowing an enemy to chunks with a Gnasher. Considering I have about 20K kills or maybe more with a Gnasher I’d say that’s a small number. And considering the challenge requires you to do this with a Longshot it’s an even taller task which means people will certainly be handicapping their team over achievements.

So much complaining, think of solutions.
There’s far too much negativity here.

Who would be crazy enough to attempt those Super and Hat Trick Achievements in Ranked KOTH?
It doesn’t even say to get those Ribbons in Ranked matches.
A logical thinking person would attempt to get these in Co-op Versus A.I, Social Quickplay, Competitive Warmup, Ranked TDM, Guardian, Dodgeball, Execution or Sniper Special Event like One Shot, One Kill.
Complaining about obtaining and limiting this play style for Ranked KOTH is exaggerating, especially if it’s the only mode you play.
If you’re at Diamond/Onyx Rank in KOTH, you’ll prob unlikely to see players being selfish as the “slayer” role with Sniper weapons.
One way of completing 10 Supers is going/hopping into Social Quickplay and messaging on Global or another player on opponent/opposite team about trying to complete that Achievement.
Who knows, they might actually help you.

I don’t know what games you’ve played recently but bots don’t tend to roll a whole lot so Co-Op vs AI is out. As for Social, it seems to be a lot of bots recently for a lot of people so again that’s not the best option either. That’s the issue here and nothing else. The Hat Trick portion can be done anywhere but you’re going to see players in a lot of ranked modes selfishly going for these kills. It’s not fake news by any means. These types of achievements didn’t go over well in the original game nor will they go over well here.

Now, if they programmed the bots to roll then you’d have a point. If you have to message a player to boost an achievement without ruining the game for others I’d argue that the achievement is poorly thought out too. By the way, don’t take this as aggressive towards you. I have read a lot of your comments and I have absolutely nothing against you or your line of thinking.

Edit: I say KotH because enemies pile into the objective so a player is more likely to sit back and try and snipe players who are in a centralized location with less chance of being flanked.

If you don’t fully understand what you’re talking about, it’s usually best not to comment. Bots do not roll, hence why you cannot do this in co-op vs AI, hence this thread’s negativity.
