#NerfCole (Mastered all 26 hives Solo as Cole)

This is an interesting thread and all but I have to ask, why is Gerald on the rock? Off!

And in operation 3 the end can give you a challenge, rest of hives were easy.

Cole doesn’t need to be nerfed but he needs to be changed a lot. His haymaker card should count for tackles in that way his tackles will be really strong, and in the same time all his health and damage reductions should be nerfed a lot. All his damage reduction cards should give him 25% damage reduction each and his perk up card should also only give 30%.
These changes would make him serve his purpose. He’s an offenese character, but with his current status he can take more damage than all the tanks combined and deal a fair amount of damage.

I wouldn’t mind a buff to the fire damage, it does so little damage even at a level 5 torch tackle with level 5 pyromaniac.

I think this is just a reflection of the fact that the character roles are just too vague to be meaningful. You’re right that Cole is more of a tank based on his actual abilities, but I just think the role descriptions aren’t fit for purpose. We shouldn’t put any emphasis on them to be honest - Cole is very much a hybrid character - a tank mxied with offense.

I think stacking the Haymaker card on top of his tackle will make him too powerful too be honest.

Real quality comment right here. :stuck_out_tongue:

This … This right here is the greatest reason to not nerf a character. It is also the greatest post on the forums and if you disagree

Cole was probably created specifically for that room.

Funny you say that because I’ve gone through it as Lahni with little complications(not even using Electroblade if it was not necessary) simply by ensuring there was always at least one Juvie bleeding at a time so I wouldn’t go down in the middle of the mob. It’s not 100% reliable due to occasional/rare weird melee hit registration issues with Juvies if a lot of them are swarming you at close range, but I’ve done it before.

Of course, Cole is currently most capable of clearing this room out.

I agree. In addition some other cards also deserve a buff like others pointed out. It’s really mainly the absurd damage resistance that makes Cole OP at the moment.

Yes which is not right, he should be OP by dealing damage. It’s almost like TC want JD to be the main OP damage dealer.
Cole should be able to soak up damage but not that much, he’s making tank characters look like teddy bears

I’m not exactly clear what you’re trying to say here.
To me if you nerf something then you rob future players of the same benefits that past players had and robbing is unkind.
I can’t quite tell if you are conflating recognition of this unkindness as it played out to people who missed the benefits that Wolf had with hypocrisy or something else.

The logic is based on what is possible.
It is not impossible to achieve a match without a meta character. You can get that without a nerf.
It is impossible to achieve pre-nerf benefits from nerfed code.

Nerf is everywhere, and permanent where self achieved non-meta matches are merely hard at worst.

To put it another way to address the “selfish” term.

Allowing meta characters to stay strong might hurt you sometimes but it’s not guaranteed so in theory abstaining from definitely hurting people that enjoy the meta every time doesn’t seem selfish or at least not as selfish as forcibly guaranteeing a always hurt to some in order to avoid the mere risk of a sometimes hurt for some.

The possibility and frequency disparities do exist regardless of what magnitude your skill level gives them.

I was not defending Wolf or condoning his actions. I simply wanted to state Ektope had nothing to do with getting the XP farming with DFB patched out.

I reckon it was this part that I was confused about:

There was so much going on that I had to re-read it a couple of times and maybe was misunderstanding the “then getting bothered by” part .
Just the sentence by itself seems clear enough if that you mis-like being told not to get bothered when others then get bothered.

Sorry if I read into it wrong.

I’m saying ways to balance Cole not nerf him. With my ideas Cole can kill much faster and gain stim, but in the same time he won’t be able to run around soaking that much damage, in that way he will fit his role.
It’s not impossible to win without the characters meta? Fine. Beat horde on master on any map other than district, forge and canals without JD and jack on the team

#Don’tNerfCole just because you don’t like it or you think it’s overpowered doesn’t mean it needs to be nerfed. Make private games and then don’t play as Cole.

Why Keegan though? Lany is a MUCH better Cole-ish “replacemant”

I agree. Melee replace melee. So Cole, Emile, Lahni. These three char won’t need weapons and do most fighting with their fists or knives. A Keegan replacing Cole would change the dynamics where explosive weapons picked up and not entering or rushing close quarter to push ahead.

I was not saying Keegan is a replacement for Cole. But when it came to disposing of the Rejects on The Corruption it was easy enough to just lure them into a choke point and slap a few Boomshots or frags into their masses to clear them out. If any stragglers survived it wasn’t enough to be much of a threat(unless the team suddenly all had brainfarts and turned incompetent or lag happens).

So in a way, he compensates for no Cole but he is not a true replacement per se. And not having a melee character on certain hives is a much bigger disadvantage than on others(such as The Warren, where especially initially when you have no adequate weapons the Juvies would be very difficult if not impossible to kill).
