“My tour” is a great concept for unlocking free content. It’s new and there are a few issues with it and I think that’s to be expected.
First off, it does not feel like “my tour”. It is more like someone else’s. I’m saying this because I do not get progress towards the tour when I’m playing the game how I want to play it. I have to play different play styles or characters that I don’t like, and this would be fine if it was only for a match or two, but it’s more excessive than that. I have to use weapons that I don’t prefer to use and although I understand that they’re trying to get people to play around with different things, the amount of time that I have to use the things that I don’t like is ruining the sense of progressing “my tour” and this brings me to my 2nd point.
It is very time consuming. Looking at the tour medals, I want to chase after the JD desert skin. It has a lot of horde requirements. However, I have spent a total of 6-7 hours in horde working towards this achievement and I am nowhere close to completing it. I work 40-45 hours a week, Mon-Fri and have an hour or two each night to play gears. I want to play pvp with my squad that I’ve been running with since gears 2, I want to play escape, and I want to play a little bit of horde. I DO NOT want to feel restricted to only being able to play one game mode for a whole week to unlock something I’m interested in.
To wrap this up, I think these achievements in my tour are too much. At minimum, each requirement should be cut in half to minimize players feeling restricted to specific game modes and play styles that they don’t appreciate. It’s okay to force these things if it’s for very small amount of time, but as of right now, it’s just too much.
Don’t hate me, but perhaps make it to where we can buy our skins directly rather than working on an impossible grind. I want that JD skin, but achieving that skin is impossible for me at the moment.
What do y’all think?
