As great (story-wise) as tge Campaign may be, Gears strongest point is in it’s Online Multiplayer. I am sure we can agree with that. I have been having fun after, more or less learning the new Gnasher mechanics as well as movement butit’s still lacking and here are some ares where I believe the game can greatly improve:
**PROGRESSION AND UNLOCKS
I feel I can’t be the only one alone in this… The content at launch is sorely low and even though there are plans to support it in the next month of October , I feel it still has to be mentioned how lackluster the rewards for completing tour objectives. All I’ve gotten for progressing thru the ranks are bloodstains which I can’t even see due to lag, or 5 scrap or 25 at most.
As multiplayer is the Bread and butter for Gears as a franchise, there needs to be more enticing reasons to play and grind online rather than for Scrap and VERY FEW characters, SPECIFICALLY THE SWARM.
CAN’T SEE THE TERMINATOR SKIN/CHARACTER
I think its a great edition to the Swarm team but the biggest problem me and a couple of my friends are having is simply just spotting the guy. And by spotting I mean just seeing the terminator. I play on a 65 inch 4k HDR enabled Samsung TV and even tweaking the back-light, Contrast and/or Brightness doesn’t allow me to see him if the area behind him is dark. (i.e. if he’s in a corner of the map or the Boltok are on Icebound as example.) That an simply not being able to hear him, He has no distinct sounds to his character which is so important, especially for modes like Guardian where a DB is the COG leader.
LACK OF TOUR OBJECTIVE VARIATIONS
To add to the first point, it’s been beyond annoying and frustrating when I don’t have the IRON to REROLL my objectives because I don’t play Escape or Horde. I understand clearly that it’s random but as someone who primarily plays multiplayer, I dont think it’s fair that I have to spend money on IRON just because I want to reroll the objective. It’s obviously trying to entice players to spend money on IRON .
All in all, great mechanics in versus and what-not and overall a really solid game aside from the terrible campaign connections and bugs. <---- A thread for another time. I love Gears, I bought the Xbox One X Gears console just for Gears 5 and Halo and would love to see the game succeed, especially with it in the spotlight now.
