Ok i’ve playing gears since December 7th 1941 and killing “Scrubs” or “Noobs” is just as easy as it’s ever been.
So what we can’t run out in the open an tank fire like before. The standard none perfect reloaded lancer still takes 11 shots to down you in gears 5. It’s just head shot damage that makes it feel more powerful.
Same with mostly every weapon. Just get your head off the centre line roll more as lancers slow your wall bounces and slides more than ever. Someone in 2 shot range with a shotgun will still delete a lancer
Just the approach of shotgun play was nerfed, if i’m in peoples faces don’t matter if you have a active lancer or not. You are still gunna die.
To me shotguns feel like 6 shot sawn offs in gears 5. I’m chunking ppl so much more at longer ranges so much more.
If not using shot guns makes you a scrub with no skill then why have them
No dev ever said sliding around running through enemy bullets one hit killing people made you good at the game?
Now there is simply more things to master more ways to kill efficiently
And horrible hit detection
Soon as the issues like that are fixed, only skill and accurate rifle play will feel effective, not just spraying in someones direction.
The whole time leading up to the game shotguns were still king. All the promotions and competitive streams. But now it’s only with these horrible servers shooting anything close to people feels like a hit, that with added aim assist… Of course lancers feel op because is hard to miss.
Fix the hit detection
Remove aim assist
Boom weapons feel alot less damaging because they are no lock on AI lasers
With all this fixed
Using a gnasher and wallbouncing everywhere still don’t put you above others who don’t
Where you are sliding everywere you got mr lancer taking your head off because you are in the open shaking your character left and right like your having a epileptic fit. Get in cover damn it. It’s called a 3rd person cover shooter for a reason.
Using 1 strategy simply won’t cut it no more. Got to adapt, get even better find new ways, incorporate new tactics as well as modrnising the old ones. With new games comes new gameplay.
Unless you play any sports game known to man 
Gears is like a 2D/2.5D fighting game. There is a meta. Metas get weaker or stronger characters and play styles get updated to keep them fresh. Gears is no different. Look the same, speaks the same but handles a little different, you can still do the OG combos to some extent but they are alot less viable
Gears 5 is that.
So adapt . The good players will remain good players the scrubs? Scrubs.
Only good players can adapt and over come significant changes to meta.

Gears Gnash and Dash meta has been there since the beginning. In every game known to man there needs to be mutiple different ways of playing. It’s why the pro’s are the same people game after game
Gears 5 brings new sectors of skill. one being highly accurate rifle players.
To me thats exciting. On one hand you have the rush down players, on the other the ranged sector covering players already 2 different type of effective play. Zoners and rush downs.
Honestly I can’t wait to see the competitive play half a year down the line
lets fix the hit detection
Work on that aim assist “AKA” (get it outa here)
Then after talk about scrubs and pro’s
The game has to many technical problems that impacts the fights to talk about weapons and balance yet
One tiny little bug or change to the games foundation/systems has MASSIVE effect on the universal balance
