Killing the same person 5 times is not a killstreak. A killstreak is killing multiple people without dying.
Without them killing you once. It’s kind of like a kill streak to me.
What do you mean by proper ping system and no “marking” players? What’s the difference?
The other 3 corners are all a lot less sight restricting and as you mention, we already have enough on screen, we don’t need more to annoy us. It’s not like we’re going to get lost running around MP maps.
Weapon Reload and Game mode icons are small, up in the top of the screen out of the way during battles and somewhat see through.
Killfeed is see-through and not intrusive.
This new mini-map is like the size of a coffee mug and is not transparent. It also doesn’t sit cleanly in the corner (but that’a just my OCD).
Having it in the Tac-Com just makes more sense. It becomes an ‘as an when’ needed feature, keeps it out the way and doesn’t ultimately doesn’t annoy me.
I think it would be too much nuisance to keep holding tac-com to show us mini-map. Some of us would prefer it present 24/7, all the time. No button pressing.
Are you kidding? This is the system in place right now with the Tac-Com.
We do not need to see my teammates locations all the time. Besides if MP is anything like Gears 4, teammates will still have a little arrow above their heads showing you their location without needing Tac-Com.
Using the Tac-Com effectively in Gears has been a useful feature throughout all Gears games. It provides you a location feature for teammates, weapons and marked enemies, while keeping the UI clean.
Now you want to put all that on screen 24/7 in a mug sized, eyesore mini-map that you have to focus the majority of your attention on to effectively see and quickly understand this information.
This mini-map essentially makes the Tac-Com redundant.
Nah. When opponent is spotted, you only see marker in gameplay and mini-map. What happens when you press tac-com? You see their full body outline. And tac-com must let you see from greater range than mini-map which is proximity,
You only see about 2 tiles past you in every direction around you on the mini-map. The Tac-Com lets you see players everywhere on the entire map, it’s not made redundant with the mini-map, it’ll still be used alot.
Maybe a poor choice of words…
I’m not against the mini-map itself. Only that there will be 2 ways to show essentially the same information just in different forms and no way to remove the one off the immediate screen, which is a personal annoyance to me.
Yes, the Tac-Com will still provide much better, quicker access information than the mini-map, so it will still be used. I simply meant getting essentially the same information from two sources is silly.
And if that’s the case about the mini-map showing less proximity, then I can only see it’s main use to spot an enemy sneaky up behind you…
All i want is the damn thing to have an option to shove it in the Tac-Com, or if it proves useless to turn it off.
I where refering to the CoD version of killstreak… start to feel they add allot of CoD mechanics to the game. Instead of making thier own game.
You mean like using knives? Because they seemed redundant when Dom already had a knife on him. We had knives on our character after mantle kicking. It makes sense to let us use knife as well, if our whole ammo ran out. It’s a better melee option than elbow jabbing,
I guess you are refering to the overwatch mechanics added to the game inform of Class based abilities
I haven’t really played COD or Overwatch. But either way, it doesn’t have much to do with this topic.
Well i guess not. But im just pointing out that it isnt new mechanics or functions. They are just added because other games are using it.
Instead of teaching other games how to do it. They are just getting teached.
Well, Gears did have some if its own things that could inspire other games. Mini-map might also be one of those features that Rod said, leaning towards modern gun play. Taking features inspired from their games.
They used to be the inventor and leading the third person shooter genre.
Now iam concerend over how they glance at other games and designs rather than being the once making the blueprint
I would like to be able to mark/ping a specific spot on the map. I always thought that marking an actual player so that his activity becomes like an xray through walls was silly.
I use it extensively and constantly remind teammates to mark because it’s part of a winning strategy, but just thought the idea of the xray was too unrealistic and gave too much away about what the enemy was doing. IMO, it just encourages camping. Marking a physical spot on the map is much more believable to me.
Assuming change = growth is a mistake a mistake that I don’t want to witness the Gears franchise make again and again.
According to TC the Gears 4 playerbase was satisfactory so I’m not sure why we are getting greedy and attempting to cater to people that haven’t been interested in Gears Of War for 5+ games. If they aren’t participating in Gears already it’s unlikely they will gain enthusiasm simply because there’s a mini map now. I don’t think I ever heard anyone say “man I’d definitely be interested in Gears if they would add a gosh darn mini map”
@zimaknights The tac com already provides more than enough information at what point does the information become too much and ends up holding the players hand in competitive versus
LOL, I don’t think you could even truly believe that. The playerbase on Xbox definitely isn’t even close to what it use to be. On PC it never had a chance, being a Windows Store exclusive.
Atleast with it on Steam, the PC players have a chance to actually see it and try it out. On Xbox, with the Game Pass, tons of casuals will atleast give it a chance, and some old Gears heads may pick it back up.
I think all of us enjoyed the old games but there’s 2 legit schools of opinion about future games. Some want new content to be mostly like the old. Others want it to change.
I’ve already told my friends that if Gears 5 VS is just like Gears 4, I’m not playing it. I can’t spend another few hundred hours doing the same thing I did for the last couple years.
You just have to respect that no everyone sees it the way you do and that doesn’t make them wrong. They just get bored more easily than you do.
