Mini Map seen in Gears 5 multiplayer

I get your point except the big learning curve is one of the reasons why Gears gamer population is so low.

It doesnt take away from map experience and IQ it just reduces the learning curve. Its still an advantage if you know the map without the mini map, but its helpful for noobs.

So with that I approve of anything that doesnt remove the depth of the game but makes it more likely others will play.

So from your perspective a Mini Map = New players and a larger playerbase? That’s interesting but also very misguided.

Changing everything people love about Gears wont magically make Gears Of War mega popular we saw this with Gears Judgement the changes didn’t increase the playerbase it actually decreased it dramatically and turned many of the hardcore Gears players away.

I’m interested to see if your increase the player base formula with a mini map will work because so far all it has done is irritate much of the Gears community including me.

I mean why does it irritate you if you can just turn it off?

You still have a huge advantage over someone that has to constantly look at the mini map to see where they are lol.

If you turned off mini-map, all your other MP HUD like aiming reticule, kill feed, weapon, bullets and active reload bar would disappear.

And that’s why there’s Pro players, game testers, some or most being old school Gears players from ‘06 behind the scenes. If they’re okay with it, then… you see where I’m going? They are under NDA.

Even I’ve been playing since Gears 2 and totally okay with the new changes. Not everyone, old school or new is gonna be happy with new changes. The ones that complain are vocal minority.

Yeah but we dont know for sure whether that is the case yet do we? But i think the biggest discussion was that it takes away from people that put time into the game, it really doesnt. If someone has to look at the mini map they are probably dead by the time they look up.

People need to stop comparing these Gears 5 changes to Judgment. Judgment changed the CORE Gears formula. No DBNO, COG vs COG, 1 less weapon ect. Thats why Judgment was a FAILURE. Change needs to happen to keep this franchise alive. Other than the omen change(which I will reserve my judgment until the tech test) these changes arent as big of a problem that people are making it out to be

Here’s the thing Red when you say we are overreacting I have to wonder if maybe you are underreacting.

Assuming “change” is always a positive is a mistake.

You don’t like my Gears Judgement comparisons? Well I can use Gears 4 and the changes made in that Gears many of them having a negative effect on the Gears population and matchmaking. Often times TCs idea of positive change actually only fractures the Gears community even further especially when it comes to PvP.

Don’t attempt to blanket the disappointment that myself and many others have with a mini map being implemented into Gears Versus.

I never said all change is positive. But again changes need to happen or you’ll just have a reskin of the same game over and over. That will only leave it dead in the water.

Most of these people havent even played the game yet. Yet theres all this negativity going on. Hold your judgment until you get to actually play it.

But there has also been positive change that has come out of TC listening . Yea the last match making change wasnt good but again theres been a bunch of positive changes like wallbounce cooldown and more

I only said the Judgment thing because your not the only person that has made this comparison.

I can’t stand his vids either.

His intro is too long and annoys mes lol

I wonder if they are adding killstreaks aswell.

I kinda hope they nerf the spot system with mini-map … Like instead of a marker following enemy every where when they’re marked, only a symbol appears on mini-map.
Current spotting mechanic is just OP … especially when enemy is behind smoke !

Nope nope nope. More sh*t blocking screen space…
Having a constant on screen mini-map is more annoying to me than the new health omen.

I’d be fine with the mini-map if it ONLY popped up when using tac-com and it should only show teammates and marked enemies positions, or the last person left alive in deathmatch game modes.

The game has to grow and change. It used to be much bigger but it’s not attracting enough new players and the former playerbase is lower because people are getting bored. I don’t think a mini map is really going to change much but it’s a start. If Gears went entirely without changes, as some seen to want, it would die.

I have to wonder why some are so bothered by it. Because it helps newer players? Are we that desperate to stomp scrubs? That’s part of the reason why the multiplayer community is kinda small. The skill gap is awful.

One thing I’ve wanted in Gears is a proper ping system and no “marking” players. I can only hope this is part of that.

Kill streaks already exist in form of Ribbons. When you kill same enemy five times, you become Nemesis.

So a stationary symbol on map? That would make mini-map inaccurate. If marked / spotted opponents get followed in gameplay, tac-com and overhead map, then it should follow around on mini-map too.

Weapon and bullets blocks top right. Kill feed blocks bottom left. It won’t make much difference to me if mini-map blocked bottom right. Barely anyone looks at their screen, along the edges or corners.
