Hopefully with Rod gone that policy can now change.
There are 10x more important characters to add than barrick lul even Jace would be more welcome and thats overlooking Tai, Dizzy, etc

Well we have Kim and Tai so if Barrick was considered then Iād like to think Alicia Valera would arrive alongside him. Then we have Zeta Squad.

I donāt see why Alicia and Alex havenāt been seen either, since Laura voiced both of them, it may be distracting and Iād recast Alex but Alicia has more of a rural accent than Kait.
I donāt think that makes it unlikely, that felt more like a marketing thing than a āhill to die onā pledge as literally no character except for Barrick smokes (at least often or on-screen). It felt more like an easy pickup since they had no intention on making anyone smoke to begin with.
It is a little odd though because the Locust War is 100x worse than any real war, and just about every veteran I know has/does smoke often.
I donāt really care for Alex but I agree Alicia wouldnāt be a problem voice-wise.
As for the smoking thing, that was Rod. Heās now, thankfully, gone so who gives a damn? Give everyone a cigarette! Make the Juvies burst out of their pods already smoking Cuban cigars for no reason!

Canāt speak for Alex as I never played J in the MP and as such havenāt heard her voice.

Itās just Lauraās voice. So basically Kaitās voice. Which would be distracting.
And maybe itās been awhile but I thought Alicia sounded more like native Mexican than French.
Maybe because I donāt have a lot of experience with French but living in a place with a large Mexican population, she kinda sounds like people I know whoāve got English as a second language, so their dialect is a little bit of the romantic Spanish layered on top of the English.
But who am I to say.
Fun Fact; I was reading the Wikis to try and see if it had any cultural hints for Alicia such as Dom would, I didnāt find anything but I did read about how Settlement 5 was partially built from the rubble of Ilimaās wreckage after it was sunk.
I like some of Alexās lines but yeah itās basically just a more brash Kait voice.

Probably from the Gears 4 collectible detailing how the new COG was salvaging rubble(and possibly other things) from old ruins, including Jacinto which seems to indicate it also has submarines of some form, not that weāve seen them. Probably also automated or manned by DBs rather than humans, or maybe they have a small human crew only while the rest is bots or automated.
I mean if the old COG could pull off a submarine Iām sure Baird has no issue designing a new COG one.
Hell if rooty-toot Americans in 1863 could figure out a submarine, Iām sure the new COG could figure it out.
Not even a joke, the Confederates (South) had a Submarine (HL Hunley) that operated from 63-64 and actually sunk a ship.
This has been Busterās unnecessary history lesson for the night.
Well, yeah, but it just seemed a bit odd for the new COG to invest resources into submarines(and other types of submersibles) if their only purpose was things like salvage operations of old submerged ruins and they likely would also have been needed elsewhere for rebuilding of society.
That being said, I wouldnāt be surprised if it was used as an excuse for us to go back underwater again, if we take to the seas again as well, and have a look through some old submerged ruins, not that I could currently imagine what reason there would be for that. Also would make a good point to give us a not so subtle hint if our good friend the Leviathan has survived or evolved like other Locust.

Gets my approval. Barrick was cool af, much cooler than any of the new squad.
Barrick was awesome, would be happy to have him back.
Nothing is unlikely now, theyāre adding LT Baird from judgment, theyād have to make Barrick from scratch ofc but its not completely out of the question.
