Meet your new Moderators team!

Greetings Gears Fans!

Please join me in welcoming our new Forum Moderation team! These passionate Gears fans volunteer some of their free time to make these forums the best place to celebrate Gears and each other, and encourage a positive experience for all.

In addition to TC Octus and myself, feel free to directly reach out to the moderators for anything. The team here at the Coalition is dedicated to listening to our community and taking your feedback to heart.

Without further ado, please meet the team in their own words. Thanks again for spending time with us, we will see you in game.

I hail from California, and have been part of the Gears of War community since 2008. What got me interested with the community was when I attended my first community event by “GearsCon” after that event I was hooked with being able to come together and play themed events with people from allover the world. There’s no better feeling! Later on I would become a host for GearsCon, and throughout the years I’ve hosted, created events, and tournaments with some amazing people within the community.

It’s a honor to be part of this community and will continue to help in anyway I can, please don’t be afraid to reach out to me directly with your questions, or concerns. I’ll see you on the forums, and the battlefield…

Hi all, my names is Jeff (Meme not intended). I am 23-years-old and live in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Gears have been a huge passion for me ever since my neighbour showed me the Mad World trailer and I haven’t looked back ever since.
I became a Twitch moderator for The Coalition during the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Beta back in 2015 and became a Forum Moderator back in 2016.
You can always contact me either here or on Twitter to talk about anything Gears & Esports related, feel free to contact me to discuss other games as well!

Hi all, my name is James. I live in Australia with my lovely wife and and 3 children.
I have been a Gears forum moderator since 2012 (back in the Epic Games era). When Microsoft purchased the Gears of War rights I was approached by TC (Black Tusk back then) to come along and continue helping out on the forums. It’s been an amazing time for me, I have made many friends, had my first trip overseas (to visit TC in Vancouver), been through several forum re-launches and Gears game launches. The biggest highlight and honor for me is having my name in the credits of Gears of War Ultimate Edition. I have loved every second of the experience and hopefully will continue on this journey for many years to come.
I’m for the most part a behind the scenes type of person. Happy to just work away in the background doing what I love, helping to make the forums a better place for everyone. I am aiming to come out from the shadows a bit more and am going to host the odd fun event here and there.
I’m mostly a Horde player and am an average mp player. I play Gears out of pure enjoyment of the game and I have been hooked on the Gears story since Gears 1.
I’m always happy to have a chat on the forums or Twitter, so please feel free to send me a message on either.

Hello guys and gals. First thing I’d like to say is what an honor it is to be part of this team with these amazing people. I’ve been playing Gears of War since Christmas of 2006 and haven’t stopped since then. I’m in the Eastern Time Zone but you can find me almost every evening and most weekends on Gears multiplayer. I am also currently the esports journalist for Crimson where our website will be coming soon and I plan to tackle gears esports from the community perspective among some other things. I’ve been modding esports for gears for about a year now and I’ve loved every second of it. I really enjoy helping people out so feel free to hit me up in any way you need to and I will help you the best I can. Even if all you’re looking to do is chat Gears I’m happy to do that also. I’m looking forward to interacting with you all through the forums as well as continuing to hopefully see you in the chats of esports sports streams. See you in the community!

Hello there, I am Ghostofdelta2, or Ghost for short. I come from the land of Kangaroos and Crocodiles. I am a manager at a Bottle-O, have an Accounting Degree, studying a Creative Writing Degree and am (very) slowly writing a couple of novels.
I have been a fan of Gears of War since 2006, and have played every Gears game ever made, including the extras made for PC and Japan. My goal is to have every achievement possible.
I have met many amazing people in this community and hope to engage and meet with many more of you over the coming years

Congratulations guys, nice to see some new folks on the moderation team!

Also what happened to the previous moderation team on the old forums? Are they not being transitioned here?

Surprised you’re not a Mod to be honest.

Congratulations to the new team, I also second the question.

Haha, I’m flattered but I’m sure there are way more deserving people than me. I really don’t actually contribute to the communitto be fair unlike those above. Plus I’m probably seen not suitable anyway.

Well you’re active enough in the community as a whole (here, streams, twitter etc) that it would make sense imo.

Who knows, maybe you’ll be a mod a few years down the line?

Congrats to the new team , keep up the good work

Maybe one day who knows, but I’m already a moderator on /r/Gearsofwar for a year now anyway. Going to be much more active there again since my I’m graduating soon. But honestly, being a mod actually means nothing though some people actually think otherwise

But anyway I’m sure these new folks will do a great job. I just mind boggled why the old mods not a part of this team, since they seem to have done a good job on the old forums.

Is that place more active now, back in the day it was so barebones?

My guess would be that they didn’t want to return due to one reason or another, but it is odd that most if not the entire team has been switched out.

Well it’s not a ghost town now, though while it seems the subreddit is dying there is still some fair bit of activity. I’m always open to feedback to improve the sub and hopefully with E3 round the corner, the sub will gain traction.

Indeed, also I would have thought Crobos would have been promoted to senior Mod by now, I mean he has been mod for quite a long time. But anyway I hope TC clarify this. I mean we’re not the only ones suprised about this.

I think the reddit (and this Forum) mostly suffers from a lack of interest from the general market as a whole. Gears doesn’t have the presence it used to on the 360 this generation (nor does Halo) so it’s tough to get traffic. The interest in Gears just isn’t what it used to be, sadly.

I hope whatever news of a Gears game we get this E3 is fresh and interesting enough to bring back some of the lost spotlight the franchise has suffered.
