That’s the point. You do a long execution to throw salt on the wound of the player you despise. The aim is to crush his morale so he’ll never try that crap again. And you achieve this by forcing him to watch as you batter his brains in with his own severed arms for five minutes. The effect would be far less potent if the opponent was allowed to skip watching.
In reality it’s salty kids upset that they died to someone (usually more than once) earlier in the match 100% of the time. It’s unfair to expose me to unnecessary violence/grief so that bad players can get their rocks off.
Whilst I do agree, there are plenty of awesome Executions that are shorter but pack just as much of a personal touch of “■■■■ YOU!”
For example. My exclusive ‘Slicer’ Lancer Execution is about 3 seconds long, but the grim brutality of punting someone in the face only to callously rip them in half from shoulder to hip is FAR more invigorating and dominating than punching someone over and over for 30 seconds.
But hey, I still want TC to give me my Curb Stomp back without having to resort to making it a pistol-only Execution. Such a lameass idea to remove it from the controls…
Sucked him off his brain cells?
This also sounds like the type of thing that would cause me to dashboard. IMO TC needs to be more conscious of the psychological effects of witnessing this type of violence committed against one’s in-game sprite.
As much as I agree, if you have the gore switched off, all you’ll get is a boot to the face and a bloodless cut across your chest.
As someone who used to play without gore (because I was WAY too young when I first played Gears) I did find major enjoyment playing without the violence.
It’s rare to see this until the end of a sweaty match.
I have seen some social matches where it happens.
I take it as a sign of frustration on their part and take a few sips while waiting.

Nope I disagree if I downed and get to execute u without your teammates interrupting me, that’s The Who point of executions it’s like teabagging in halo.
I don’t condone this practice, either.
This feels like a vegetarian complaining they serve meat at a steakhouse. Sir, maybe a game with chainsaws on the guns isn’t the game for you.
Think of it as an accessibility feature.
I can understand wanting to skip the execution animation. Sort of like turning off kill cam. I do feel though that the respawn time punishment should still be long because you made the mistake of allowing your opponent to execute you.
My comment was more about the exposure to violence in this game. I just dont understand how tc’s supposed to chainsaw someone in half in a way that isn’t violent and more psychologically friendly.
If I turn gore off, there should be no chainsaw happening to begin with. Maybe instead of getting chainsawed, the opposing player grabs you and shakes you around for a few seconds before you die. This can’t go on for more than a few seconds, though, or I will get close to panicking and will be unfairly denied my respawn.
There can still be a chainsaw on the person’s screen with gore on.
The point is to humiliate the opponent it’s in the game for a reason.
Maybe you should go play something else, like an infants game and gt.fo of here. Why in the world would you buy a game that is EXPLICITLY FOR ADULTS, as per the ESRB rating, and then expect it to have a pus.sy friendly setting because you can’t handle playing a fkn game???
This does come off as a rather ridiculous thread, considering the game we’re talking about here. If you can machine gun and chainsaw and shotgun etc. your enemies, but you can’t take it being done to you, I’d really advise you to move on to greener less violent pastures.
It’s a tactical decision your opponent is making for a long execution. You’re not being robbed of a respawn, you’re being deliberately kept from respawning, for whatever reason your opponent decides. Maybe you’re so good that he wants to deny your assets from your team, maybe he wants to humiliate you for something you did to him in game, real or perceived. Maybe you just ran into a toxic a hole. If you want 100% gore off to appease whatever version of ptsd you claim to have, then I’m all for a nice Joe Pera type peaceful nature footage collage to pop up on screen for the duration of your pawn’s awful beatdown so you can remain calm, cool, and collected to continue to deal out havoc and destruction to your opponents.
But dashboarding out just makes you a quitter with whatever justification you apply. Get over it. Or stick to your store reviews…those were good for comic relief, which is, again, exactly what this thread comes off as.
Y button beat downs are not going to, and should not, change. Aside from them being the obvious glorious pub stomp humiliation, competitively they are useful for timing people out of respawns. That way, you can keep a player out of the fight for longer periods of time in order for your team to get an edge. Also TC have gave multiple very short executions for the pistols. If someone isn’t using them it’s not TC’s fault, it’s that players. But anyways it doesn’t make any sense to be Y button-ing a player just to have them spawn, run back, and kill you as you are still beating them from their previous life. It makes no logical sense. So no you shouldn’t be able to skip them and respawn earlier. And before you say, “but meatshields!” a meatshield is not considered an execution by practical means, and while it doesn’t keep you from spawning, it can delay your spawn for a while after they pick you up. If meatshields delayed spawns indefinitely then all people would do is meatshield the entire team and then the team can’t spawn back for the rest of the game and lose by default. Which would be hilarious but obviously completely broken.Could be a fun dodgeball like gamemode though
There are some Executions that just seem to go on and on and on, so yeah, i can understand your feelings on that one.
The Execution for the Retro Lancer pisses me off sometimes, upon completion of the Execution the character just seems to stand there for a while, enough at times for you to be downed. So, i try to remember to boot the ■■■■■■■ when i have downed an enemy.
