Level 1 vs level 2 barrier?

Want to know what is the spec of level 1 and level 2 barrier?

I can understand if u have lot of energy I will go for lvl2. Like in Horde Frenzy, I would prefer build lvl 1 barrier first and then get more lockers instead. But seems some engineer insist on start with lvl2 barrier, and SENTRY!? Wtf?

Is it better build more lvl1 barrier or just couple lvl2 barrier?

The barriers are very much different to prior operations like 1-4. Level 2 barriers is all you ever needed and there were only a few maps where you would actually use anything more than lvl 2. (Like forge in the control room on the left hand side stairs)

Even level 1 is more than enough most times. They are cheap and easy to maintain. Anything above lvl 2 gets expensive and is destroyed easily. Takes longer to repair also.

Now going back to what I said about prior operations. I found that barriers now don’t stop enemies as effectively as they used to, especially if you have that Aggressive modifier on. They just power through.

Bottom line I would never go past lvl2 (unless a situation calls for) and most times only use lvl1 unless your rolling in power.

I know, I never use more than lvl 2, it take too long to fix but is that more efficient to lvl 1 for early wave until we have enough locker and energy then we upgrade to lvl 2 barrier.

Only use lvl one early waves until you get your locker to lvl 4. Remember that lvl locker also recharges weapons faster.

It is slightly more efficient but not by much and not if power is scarce.

Level 2 ftw.

Other levels are easily destroyed.

Level 1. It takes less time to repair, cheaper and does the same job as Level 2. Armour Plating is great with Level 1. I’m not a fan of using Fort HP either, because when destroyed, you just take even longer to repair. You can get more stuff done and more productive, if stay with Level 1’s.

A Level 2 Barrier is worth two Level 1 Barriers. You’ll be way more productive to build many Level 1’s, right off the bat than doing Level 2’s. Level 2’s seem like a waste, especially before Lockers or whole base setup. And two Level 1’s cover more area, compared to a single Level 2,

When playing as Jack or bought a Repair Tool, it’s faster and cheaper to do Level 1’s and longer, more expensive to do Level 2’s. Sometimes, the two ends of Level 2 Barriers can block line of sight, so you end up hitting the Barrier. It wouldn’t be an issue with Level 1’s.

Sometimes? It always seems to happen.
It blocks sentries and standard gun fire.
Extra annoying if you’re trying to get cheap kills as a Robotics Expert.

I was thinking like you. Personally I prefer build lvl 1 instead of lvl2 in the beginning until I have enough locker for all team member. If I have shxt load of energy of course don’t mind lvl 2 right away. Also I like to lay the barrier vertical instead so the enemy have longer path to slow down. I hate see those engineer playing Master and Incon, start build lvl 2 or higher in wave 1 and build shxtty lvl 1 sentry.

if you leave it last, there is always a stupid player who is not mechanical to update him

Does level 1 barriers do damage? I know they slow them down and bleeding barriers use to be a thing.
If they do how does it work with the fortification damage card or does it?

I know lv 1 barriers does damage, I’ve gotten kills in jingle juvies from them. What I wonder, does lv 2 has any benefits apart from more health? Like more stopping power? In jingle juvies I’ve felt lv 1 are better, with having money to put more out. Someone who have tried it out?

Not sure if it was just gears 4, but I thought it takes an enemy longer to walk through a level 2 barrier.

I place lv 1 barrier all over first and see which barrier got broke down first then I might upgrade that barrier to lv2.

Last couple days saw a lot of “newbie” engineer doing daily, putting up lv 2 barrier and sentry in first wave. OMG! I will just leave the group when I saw them building first sentry.

I agree on the sentries on wave 1 but what’s wrong with lv2 barries right from the start? I’ve doing this since G4 and works perfectly fine all the time.

Yeah, if u have load of energy to spam, I don’t mind start with lvl 2, but when u do daily and limited energy to start with, I thought as a good engineer, is how u spend and build the base. I will use the energy I save to upgrade lvl 2 barrier to get more locker for the team. So they don’t need to kill them selves to fight for ammo box.

Ohh right, I forget that people still play Gears without stacking, my bad.
