Let's have an honest conversation about the state of Gears 5 and this community

My main thing is the complete lack of content. If it’s not reimaginings, it’s maps that don’t suit the Gears universe… at all. I’ve played all Gears of Wars, read a few novels and comics - and I can’t remember an environment that resembles Pahanu. Maybe we’ll get future content to show us, but it just seems so out of place

From the lore, to gameplay, to money-grabbing fingers, expressions, banners, Terminator/Halo packs…

Accessibility: while I’m sure it has done them well in sales, it’s still changed how multi-player functions. Everything is just too easy, and there’s aim assist. The sniper has never been easier to use - it’s ridiculous

And the STORE. The store gets updated more than the game. At least have half of what’s in the store earnable through challenges, instead of locking it all behind a paywall. ESPECIALLY character skins that have been available in previous Gears of War games

Not being rewarded for duplicated skill cards in Horde/Escape, loading times in Escape, the lack of content you get from supply drops, how the games progressions system makes it pretty much unplayable unless you have boost… They are greedy

8 months in, 2 tours down, 4 new maps, and a handful of characters
They should’ve stayed with map-packs instead of this “2 maps every tour” BS
The game is so dry

If you have the option of playing on PC then you might be able to get a VPN kicking to fool TC into thinking you’re from another country.
I’ve done that on occasion just to circumvent heinously blocked up intermetiate servers in the middle of the country while downloading from the opposite side.
If that can work foryou… The only bad thing is that chances are good that you’ll need to pay for it because the free ones are too slow.

Why would the Tank need a Shield. He or she would be designed to take damage, they should, and i say again, should, have abilities or Skill cards to increase the amount of punishment they can take.

Much like the Scout in Gears of War 4, increased health, increased regeneration and that other thing i can not remember. I created it just for Juvvies, my Son and i would create these beast of a Tank and equip with Boomers, stand close enough together to use Boomers on each other being surrounded by Juvvies and score some mental Experience.

It is the only thing i miss about Gears of War 4 Horde. When Tanks were Tanks.

Scout in 4 go in front line that was the point for why it’s was tanky to keep pick up the energie but in gear 5 it’s no longer the case camo replace that.

Even if tank should be the one to take everything you need balance with that Marcus right now is the close of tank I can see with his perk will cover damage is reduce I don’t see tank like in the middle not in cover that’s why I was thinking of that and give the option to place movable object right now only fabricator can do that and is very limited .

If you make a tank that can’t be kill just equip with op weapon it would be JD with tank abilities and balance would be broke again if put a tank to cover it will dodge the problem and can be kill will not in cover remember Gear is a cover shooter not a ultra fantastique op character Destiny and other game are made for that .

The balance is if you can tank you should do less damage and if you do lot of damage you are paper but yeah right now gear 5 is far from that .

All I can say about the Hero system is that it still breaks down to two types.

-An actual Hero that can do damage or fills a need for a Master run.

-Or the other 90% Hero’s. What I call the Tri-Shot Hero. Yea they have some cool stuff, but in the end, just use a Tri-Shot or you wont be able to kill anything.

With that in mind, all Hero’s need major rework.

Maybe someday this will happen. Until then, I have lost all interest in playing. As its just not fun anymore.

I still don’t understand why they completely re-drafted the OG Recticles/Cross Hairs on all the weapons , it’s just stupid

They should’ve kept the old crosshairs/Recticles and make it go red again when aimed at an enemy

Heavy Weapons of War.

It’s why I only like running Kait, JD, Keegan and Del/Baird in Horde.

You can play inconceivable with enemy health off and run whoever you want.
You’ll get decent cards out of it and nothing is too spongy till late game.

I hear Clayton is wonderful with his concussive explosives. It’s not killing things but stunning everything (even bosses) is apparently still incredibly satisfying and helpful.
I actually want to try him sometime.

Sometimes fulfilling a vital support role or just mainly being there as the fail safe that stops the team from, well, failing, can feel pretty decent. But it doesn’t beat “some good old hands-on action”.

So many issues that I see here would be reconciled completely if everybody were fortunate enough to be able to play with awesome people.

People say he’s OP because his support is amazing but I want that hands-on action too.

I do wonder however if he(Clayton) could solo a Kestrel with the right cards and circumstances or if he reflected a missile back at the Kestrel would the stun preventing future reflect backs :tired_face:

Fix the freaking servers and ppl will play. I would bet my next paycheck on it. Server servers servers haha

Jack was my first level 18 hero because every team wanted a Jack back at launch. Easy XP.

Agreed, Tanks should take an amazing amount of punishment, balanced with a damage reduction, however, they should be great at melee, whatever the level of Tanking abilities.
As for JD being a Tank, that is just daft, even as an example, but yeah, i know what you mean.
The Engineer starting with a crap weapon in the game is balance, the Engineer is not meant for attack, but to build and repair.
Gears 5 altogether has been a mistake with the characters, Skill Cards and balancing. Lets hope Gears 6 can learn from Gears of War 4 and Gears 5 effectively.

Also, after so many barriers are built the price rises, maybe have someone who gets them at base cost get some? Think about that!

Price on everything rises in incriments as you build more.
Gets worse with power drain.
It’s why people who aren’t engineers often build things for the engi to upgrade; it’s the cheapest option.

All points are noted but the problem is they have a good patch then erase it they don’t care what the hard core players want so thats why all the hate they want to make this a cod halo type game and I’m sorry this is gears they need people who understand gears they don’t have that anymore and in itself is the problem with the first 3 you never had this but with this one you have all the time from ranking system to everything else
