Campaign is very cool, Escape is nice also.
I don’t play Horde.
PVP needs some teaks and different gameplay direction.
I’ve finished campaign yesterday, i probably won’t touch this game again until a new update is out.

I like Escape. There’s that at least. I like the Medals and TOD stuff even if the rewards are meh. It gives me something to play towards. The VS is ok, but just feels off for some reason. Horde is too restricting to enjoy as much as GOW 4. Campaign looks great, but too short and open world segments don’t add too much and feels like open space just to say they added something new. Hate filler content like Blood Sprays, Banners, and expressions. No Baird as a playable character which has been my favorite since GOW 1. Weapons fell OP. Hit boxes are way off. Flash Bangs last way too long and are so annoying. They should be a pick up grenade not a load out one, since people super spam it in KOTH right after they infinitely spawn. Can’t customize separate skins for COG and Locust team. Even with all the stuff I don’t like I’m still going to play it at least to finish my daily challenges for TOD.
Love the game! Escape is a great mode, I like the different characters and levelling them up in Escape and Horde. The Tour of Duty gives some fun progression too. Campaign is awesome so far.

I love it. My son and I play it every day. We’re probably only about halfway through the story. We mostly play horde mode. And Mp/escape when we have a challenge for it.
I love it, finished the campaign before diving into horde, feels like ranking up is overall slower than 4 but having loads of fun with the game
I like the campaign, but horde, playlists, and multiplayer in general? not so much, im not liking this at all, find hard to be able to enjoy oneself with all the fun modes being ranked only, and constant flashbang spam. Escape is alright depending who you are paired with. I have the game pass i wanted to check if i should buy it or not, but looking at it for what it is , i guess not. With how it is right now i hardly have motivation to play besides trying to complete medals. To each their own.
It’s the next installment in the series so I’ll be playing this from now on. Does it have issues, yes.
F…ing hate it. Gone back to 4 and wow the movement is like 3 times quicker and the gnasher actually kills in one shot.

I like the campaign but I loath the Horde changes (Horde’s my traditional goto Gears MP mode),the overly aggressive intrusive monetization model with needless fluff like blood sprays and banners as well as the barebones launch content and the bad drip feed live service model. People here on the forums repeating “there’s more coming” ad nauseaum doesn’t justify this few launch characters, characters being tied to classes in horde, little ammunition in horde, or trying to made horde a hero shooter. In versus I don’t like the flash bangs at all.
Thought the Gears 4 campaign was pathetic so I was pleasantly surprised with the Gears 5 campaign, did well in developing character that bored the life out of me. However, I do find it peculiar how everyone just dismisses The first minister’s orders even though the COG are notoriously severe in punishments for disobeying orders…
I mean it certainly has foundations set for a quality gears, I’m personally happy with the fluidity of movement, (I know a lot aren’t) I can still wall bounce rather well.
But the multiplayer has serious flaws. Firstly the maps are seriously poor which leads to lancer fests, the ranking system is dreadful, if you’re not top two you lose points for some reason which has stopped a few of my mates playing since they’re supports and let others do the Gnasher work. It’s extremely difficult to get in a game with stack for some reason which makes it frustrating for me because whenever I solo que I’m matched up with teammates who are simply rather poor yet my opposition seem to find relative ease in clearing my teammates without too much hassle l.
The TC really needs to listen to quite a few of the issues already raised on here and elsewhere before the newcomers flock the next triple A upon release and never come back.
I play this gears casually, I don’t even play to get “sweaty” anymore. Gears 4 had a certain type of aggression you had to bring to each game. As a diamond level player from 4 to just an average joe on 5. I don’t see how Esports will work with 5. But the campaign was excellent.

I dig it. Half way through campaign and it’s awesome so far. Biggest complaint with Versus is aim assist in ranked modes. Weapons could definitely use some tuning (nerfed) but that’s to be expected. Movement took some adjusting but it doesnt bother me now. I also like ToD even if it’s a little grindy. I haven’t gotten to Horde yet but Escape is a fast and fun cooperative mode. I think the game is going to evolve a lot with all the post launch free content.
I really enjoyed the campaign, escape is ok and have yet to play horde. MP needs work for sure. I am hoping there are some updates to address some of the issues. Either way it gives me an excuse to drink beer and scream at the tv.
I only play horde and I like the new game. All the changes makes it some of a challenge now that demands you to rethink regarding ammo, building, use of power and strategy over all.
Sure I have gotten used to the amount of characters and maps that were in 4 at the end but it is coming in 5 eventually so the lack of them at the moment does not concern me.
i straight up lost all respect for it i dont mind campain tell the end i hate and mp is straight up a joke with the gun lagg and i see ppl body me not even aiming on me like 2ft left or right of me its trash right now absoulutly hate mp its a joke
I like the story, and it’s graphics are great. However, many are having issues, the game is a mess as far as playing it goes, and many find it too casual.

I enjoyed the story and the new Escape mode. I like the look of the game and the graphics. Horde is okay when you get a good group. The arcade mode is fun. However, the biggest issues are when you have a bunch of glitches on launch that are easily avoidable.
MP is a blast with me

The game as a whole, I’ve enjoyed for the most part.
Campaign was refreshing and much improved.
Escape is fun and challenging on the higher levels. Definitely requires thinking and team work at times.
Horde haven’t touched yet.
Versus is a disappointment
Honestly, the more I play it, the more I like it (I am talking exclusively about MP).
Although I am still not a fan of the slower wall bouncing movement, I seem to be getting the hang of it.
