There’s honestly nothing they can do to ruin it even further than what Epic did when it was released. It was literally a game breaking map. TC would have to be very impressive to make it worse but who knows.

#2 is Old Bones which will be a new map.

Having looked at Old Bones gameplay, it had two flights of stairs. That image had three flights of stairs.

I was there in it was originally released, don’t recall it having any issues (though it obviously wasn’t the best Versus map if that’s what you mean)

My point still stands that TC are incapable of doing a proper remake of Depths, whether it be to engine or limitations of hardware or whatever Depths wouldn’t be possible. They couldn’t even do a proper remake of Rustlung, and that map was much much easier I would argue.

The issue was that if you spawned from the side with piano, you could twirl your Smoke Grenade and spam A button to press / interact with piano. Few seconds later, everyone else freezes*.

doesn’t sound like a map issue, sounds like a game issue.

Edit: no reason to believe any future Gears game would have the same issue.

It was a fun map and nothing inherently wrong with it. This piano glitch, however, locked up everyone’s game and forced a game reset once the player did it. Its what forced Epic to take it out of rotation.

I hated when salty losers triggered the glitch when the match was already lost. Was the same thing with rustlung when it wasnt a KOTH match lol

Academy deserved a remake far more than Drydock/Rustlung did that’s for sure.

Note: there is a picture of Academy in the campaign, which tells me they agree.

Edit: I hated Gears 3 Versus but I still thought Academy was incredible, TC doesn’t understand why maps work and why they don’t and stuff like that, they just look at popularity for remakes which is a shame.

As far as I know, #2 isn’t a map that was released in any of Gears franchise game (though i habent seen all Judgment maps).

The layout of new section isnt somethong that I would recall quickly. Every map has something recognizable, and that set of stairs is something unique. Also, what comes to my mind is this map is situated in some closed area (last pillar is looking like its supporting top of an cave or a room - though irregular shape of wall behind it indicates at cave).

Also the tweet indicates that those are gears 5 maps, no other game si its clearly a new map.

My guess map will be called Nedroma (like that from Gears POP)

Nedroma is also in Tactics and that may well be it!

It wouldn’t surprise me if TC made that tweet to try to get people interested and guessing specifically on that, and if so, good job TC, and good on you if you have guessed correctly :slight_smile:

there’s a good possibility its just an earlier iteration of a map that has already came out though, we’ll find out sooner or later.
