So, after a full day of looking into it, I figured out that my issue was to do with “CONTENT FILE LOCKED” , from Steam.
The specific file, personally was:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GearsTactics\GearGame\Content\B2\Launch.b2container
I’ve only ever had this issue with two other games and never noticed it before. After hours of failed attempts to fix the issue, this is what I did.
I first uninstalled the game through Steam.
I clicked on the windows start menu (default bottom left), and typed in “cmd”, and ran Command Prompt as Administrator.
From there I typed “netch winsock reset” and pressed enter. Waited a second for the completion message, then restarted my computer.
After that I clicked on the windows start menu again and typed in “Steam”, and ran that as Administrator (not sure if that was needed but I didn’t want to take any chances).
From there I navigated to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common and deleted the “GearsTactics” folder completely.
After that, I disabled my antivirus software temporarily.
Then I installed the game and sure enough, no “CONTENT FILE LOCKED” message was received.
I launched the game to see the result of what I did and sure enough it worked fine.
I then closed the game and re-enabled my antivirus software.
I relaunched and there was no issues.
I’m not sure if 90% of that was at all needed and it was just to do with my antivirus software, but it worked. It also has worked for one of the other games I mentioned before, the other game was refunded ages ago, so I can’t test it for a third time. But two for two is good enough for me.
